Great video! The first couple of days the fit felt like they could slip out but after about a week it’s like my ears adjusted and the fit was more secure. I love these things.

Having the same experience. I think it comes down to learning how it feels when they sit right and trust it, I don't think the ears physically adjust in any way. I'm wearing them right now and it still kinda feels like they could fall out, but despite that feeling they stay put even if I shake my head very vigorously in whatever direction.

Please review the WM5 call quality using the latest 3.2.1 firmware. I noticed a very clear improvement. In my tests, it is now one of the best for calls in noisy places.
Good point regarding the lack of battery replacement. For me however, Multipoint bluetooth is one of their very big plusses (phone + laptop connected simultaneously).
Another great review! I've tried a lot of different brands of earbuds including Apple, Beats, Sony, JBL, and others, and always find that the right side bud always falls out after about 6 minutes of wearing. Yes, I've tried various different sized ear tips, silicone, foam, other things, and have the same problem across brands. I'll more than likely end up buying the XH-000XM5 headphones as a solution. Maybe my right ear canal is too big.
I love the xm5 headphones. Considerable noise canceling improvement over the xm3. Bummed to hear the earphones aren’t as good as I’d hoped. Guess AirPods will have to do for a better overall experience as an iPhone user
You're not alone, my right ear does the same thing. I normally go a size smaller for the tip
for issue connection I just tap many times the bud on my ear with clicking the WF name on your phone Bluetooth then it will connected, it's similar way with my Marshall buds
Considering they caused the older m4 batteries to self destruct with a firmware update I'm sceptical. Still bought the m5 but run it without the notice cancel feature.
Is there a solution to this, they are useless all of a sudden!
Been using since last year pre-order. I ditch my XM4 because change battery for 2 time.
But I used 700+ hours on XM5 and not a single problem on the battery~ Glad I give Sony another chance~

@@syafihaziq6176 I sold it away last yea. So not sure about it. But the XM5 I can say is a big improve. I use it almost everyday with current 900+ hour more than my XM4 which is 700+ hour. The battery havent give me any issue. So sorry for not ans your question. But I prefer you just get the xm5 better
I've been rocking Sony WF-1000XM 4's for 2 years now having previously used Pixel Buds, and wired Sure SE 215's. I use them several hours per day, every day, and they are a joy. Glad to hear the XM 5's are also good and even improve on some areas, will definitely consider them when the time comes to buy the next headphones.
Hold onto those XM4's. The batteries Sony put in those are defective and pop. Sony's will replace them with XM5's if it happens.

Just had them sent for repair under warranty, curious if they will replace it for the same or the newer model.
I clocked 1944 hours and 38 minutes of work time on them.
@@PleaseHold-il5eq they told me that they only replace with XM5's because they no longer make XM4's so you're in good shape. I'm loving my new XM5's, they fit my ear far better than the old model.

After 2 years and 1 month of ownership, of a WF-10000Xm4… i want to say. sony, go f y… The draining on the right is huge. After 1 hour no more battery.

Couldn't agree more... in my case, it's gotten from an hour to 15 minutes in 3 days, and they also get scary hot now. Xm5's got realeased about a month after the warranty expired, and the first softeware update after that ruined my xm4's. What a crazy coincidence it is indeed
@@jozin_z_bazin i managed to contact sony. Apparently for batteries issues they extended the warranty by 1 year. They offered me to repair or to take the new xm5 for 100€. I choose the last option

I am a Google Pixel and iPad user, currently I have the Airpods Pro 1st Gen, but I was wondering if it was worth it to upgrade to the XM5s or maybe the Pixel Buds Pro. I do use a lot my iPad Pro, as it is my main work device, so Im unsure if I should upgrade.
Mic quality of air pods is much much better. For sound quality air pods pro 2nd gen are nowhere close to xm4 buds. If you are planning to stay in apple ecosystem air pods is the way to go
WF-1000XM4 also had volume touch control....I've had them for 2+ years and used them a lot! Now suddenly battery started to last 10min so I just ordered XM5! :)
Great review. I'm not sure why, but I actually prefer the sound of these more than the over-ear xm5s. I've tinkered with the eq with the wh-1000xm5s, and no matter what I did, the vocals were too recessed and artificial sounding. These make vocals feel more realistic and natural and still allow them to stand out from the other instruments. The bass feels tighter and less boomy, too. I dont even eq the buds because they sound excellent as is imo.

With the Sony XM5 earbuds in transparency mode, does it reduce "outside" noises that are "loud?"
Like if I wore the earbuds in transparency mode and a gunshot was near me, or if I worked in a factory with a loud constant sound; then would the software "mute" the loud sounds?

I'm going with this pair of buds, since I have had 2 pairs of the Galaxy Buds2 pro break on me in 2 months, they sound great and work well, but have terrible quality control. First pair one earphone stopped registering that it was in my ear so I couldn't use ANC or touch controls, second pair after a month started getting mic feed back so using ANC caused this horrific feedback screech. It's a shame, since I have had my Galaxy Buds+ and the only reason I upgraded is because the charging pins are starting to play up, and they don't always charge when being put back in the case.
I still love them after 6 months. Battery and sound quality are excellent, and they are really comfortable. I use them 6-8 hours every day, without realising that they are in my ears. I am still using my xm4s to watch my telly. I'm as happy as I can be. 😊
@8RBrain Hi. Look, I purchased a Fio bta30pro to transfer the signal to my earbuds, I was going to have a dedicatedLdac transmitter. . I have a supa dupa tv, but it doesn't have LDAC option. I have dropouts in my bedroom, which is weird because the same headsets were completely fine in our previous flat, so I guess it has something to do with the walls, I guess.
I'm using my xm4s indoors only, and I'm really happy.
I think you'll be happy with them. I had to implement something because my partner was complaining about the "noise" all the time. 😅😂🤣

I am still using the original tips. The left one stayed in the charger twice in the last two weeks. I washed both with soapy water, put them back, and they are good as new.
So my answer is no, I don't have any issue with the 1000 xm4 ear tips.
Unable to get them to cancel any background noise. Ive returned them twice to Sony who state they are working fine. Compared them to Bose Ultra and Jabra Elite 10 in various enviroments. The Bose are fabulous and the Jabra very good especially when one considers the price. Plenty of reports around now noting the very poor noise cancelling performance of these buds. I suspect the problem is in the foam tips that for many people will not allow a seal, making the noise cancelling ineffective. My advice would be to check that if they dont work for you that they can be returned.

Speak-to-chat also lowers the volume when you laugh or even giggle. That got old really quickly for me, because I like to listen to stand-up on the go :)
For better sound, have you ever considered (300.00 USD price point) the Sennheiser earbuds?
I do not agree with you at the comfort in the ear. When I conducted the test, it suggested a large size, but it is not comfortable at all, and when I put the smaller size, the sound is definitely different. There is another thing, if I lost one of the headphones, I did not find a way to find it. This is a simple feature that should definitely be present in the program.
The foam tips for the xm5s are hit or miss, unlike the xm4s. I too have to use the larger size and it took about two months for the tips to become comfortable for me. I think the reason for this is the foam is harder and longer lasting than the xm4s.
None of the other ones you talked about is on level with the sonys. However the Beats buds + is the best I used for phone calls the best for anc is quietcomfort earbuds II but I'm curious to try the xm5 earbuds .

Can you do play/pause, next/prev, vol up & down AND cycle between ANC and OFF all on the buds? The XM4 you can't do that.
Technically, but you either select from a suite of playback controls or ambient sound controls per earbud. Can't customize tap controls beyond that.
I got the xm4 but they Fell in water and they have somme trouble with charging but it works do you think it's worth picking up the xm5 for 190 euros?
xm5 for 190 Euros seems like a good deal, I just bought them for 220 Euro lol. I bought the XM4 2 years ago also for 200 Euro so I think that's a good/normal price for them.

Instead of taking them out of your ear and putting them in the case and closing it and all that tried double tapping the budget isn't seeming like it's on. I've always had that problem with the XM4s and I've had it happen once or twice with the XM5 and if you just double tap it it seems like it just wakes it up and sometimes the sensor that sits against your skin to know when they're in your ear maybe a little dirty just try wiping it off.
I got these because as much as I like the airpods pro for the ease of use, my ears just hurts so much. Putting these on was like night and day in terms of comfort and the noise cancelling feature doesn’t give me weird headaches.
Theres currently a sale on them for 90$ should i get them??

@@phantombigballs8165 unfortunately it turned out to be a mistake on the employees part, they put xm5’s instead of the c-700s and they found out just when i went to get them, was really heartbroken

The #1 obstacle for me is how well will they fit in my ears! Which is why I continue to shy away from these and use something else.
Plus, not supporting Dolby Atmos & Spatial Audio with the music streaming services is just a crime

I've had the previous generation (xm4) and bought them, among other reasons, for long plane flights and they were really good. Cycling through transparency mode (a lot of noise), off (much less noise obviously but still some bass frequencies from the engine noise) to ANC (very less noise and just slight hissing, no bass) made a big difference. I could sleep on the plane with no music playing, just ANC on. Just note, I always feel some slight pressure when the ANC is on and no music is playing. Maybe also some feeling of artificial silence idk. But playing some music resolves it for me.
I have an iPhone and I can’t make phone calls. People can’t hear me whatsoever or they say I sounds like I’m super far away
Theyre pretty good so far but for nearly 300 dollars i expected a better fit. I feel like im constantly touching them to get them back in my ear and by doing so i accidently hold the side so it either skips songs or activates the google assistant
Everyone has different shaped ears, you can get different tips

I bought em second hand off of eBay. Right ear stopped working. I threw it at the wall. It worked again. I use em for immersive movie watching on my Apple TV and my Sony Walkman earbuds. For the $150 I paid for them, I bought a second pair and gotta say I’m pleased.
I'm considering copping these off Ebay as well. How is the phone call quality?

No. Sony rectified the xm4 battery drain issue on the xm5. So it will run as advertised.
@@Robbo-eh3wb I've started to run into the issue on the xm5s. The strange part is every other charge results in the problem alternating between which bud drains faster than the other.
Fit is number one for me, then battery life, then sound and anc. I am surprised these work as well as they do in the fit department. I am a pixel owner and my gf gave me a pair of Pixel buds pro, which would be what i want for the extra phone functionality. The fit on those didn't work, took them back and tried out everything under the sun and got the sony headphones you showed here, which are amazing.
Then i got these over the holidays and have been impressed with the fit and comfort. They're not perfect, but the best one I've tried even better than some that had wingtips for me.
The only earbuds i would consider over these are a new pixel bud whenever Google refreshes and the bose ultra earbuds.
Appreciate you highlighting the battery replacement. Here's the kicker, the wf1000xm4s do have batteries that can be replaced easily through repair shops. The xm5 buds come with battery hard soldered into the buds and not at all repair friendly. Sony is walking apple's path.

Odd, I just had the battery drain issue with the xm4 and I sent it back to Amazon which sent it to some repair shop they partner with. They said it's unrepairable and refunded me the whole purchase price.

Is the support for spatial audio limited to certain apps like this paid Tidal that Sony promotes? I found this so stupid, to announce some feature which 99% of users won't be able to enjoy because nobody has that Tidal subscription...
I'd really like to try xm5 but xm4's pathetic battery performance and ugly customer service stops me. My xm4's left side completely died after 80 hours of use and right side going 1 hour at most. I don't understand how sony managed to ruin such a premium quality product because of simple battery errors. I'll just wait for at least 6 months more to see whether battery or any other issues'll come up or not.
You say the xm4 battery life stops you from purchasing the xm5 earbuds which honestly doesn’t make much sense to me. Can I suggest you consider buying the xm5 based on the xm5 benefits? Look to the future and not the past.
How do you know how many hours of use your headphones had? I'm really curious cuz some other comment on here counted the same. I was a hardcore user of the XM4, got the battery drain issue, sent them in and got full refund. I still have the headphone app installed, wondering if I can get my hours.

I jumped from XM4 to WF 1000 XM5, and the comfort is better, the music is louder, noise cancellation is a bit better, and mics are way improved.

@@shum_pulpp have you had any earbuds before so I can help guide you? Until now no I have not had any problem with it, with updates it became a real upgrade over my old WF XM4, my only complaint is the battery life of the case itself it’s a bit short only 2 charges and it is empty
@@ehabal-hanash2533 actually Im a bit behind like till this day Im using the regular wired apple ones but since i start going to gym and also upgraded to ip 15 pro I wanna buy my first one. All my friends are recommending the AirPods pro 2 but i kinda feel that the sony is just a better option. I don’t use the earpods very often probably like 2 hrs a day so if the only downside is the battery life I don’t feel it would be a problem to me

@@shum_pulpp until now no, it’s pretty solid, other thing I wish was better is mics in noisy environment especially if there is wind, they are better than previous gen but still could have been more improved, if I were you I would check the new sennhieser
I would say the the Sony LinkBuds S is an all rounder and comes with an balanced sound quality and price.
As long as you don't run into the hissing noise when the noise cancelling is on.
I've owned the Sony WF-1000XM4 for over two years and have enjoyed using it in various outdoor settings. However, I recently chose to upgrade to the WF-1000XM5 and was quite disappointed. It falls short compared to the WF-1000XM4, especially in windy environments where it's practically ineffective. I also feel it underperforms in noisy indoor environments.
I would advise against purchasing it based on my experience.

It seems no one is raving about the noise cancellation on these. Are they comparable to apple pro buds? The noise cancellation on those are even effective on flights. No cabin noise whatsoever. Does anyone know if these Sonys are just as good?

I've been using the XM4's for 3 years now and they are by far the best earbuds I've ever used. I did buy them for the noise cancelling which works sooooo gooood. I forget I'm standing at a busy loud intersection with cars flying by. It's almost dangerous. I'll buy them again if I ever need an upgrade. Oh, and yes, I sleep with them no problem,

My 5 right battery failed within 30 days.
my XM4's had a much better fit , these are almost as good but fit is really the most important thing. Both these and my xm4's had issues and my current XM4s have just been fixed by Sony . Ive only had them for 3 months. Sony does have good warranty support but id rather they hadn't both developed issues . The sound on both is amazing but better on XM4.

i always find it weird some one would have and iphone and use any other earbuds but apple for this price point. You can't even really abuse the earbud an all its features and the quality of everything goes down once you use and iphone. For all that you might as well get cheap buds that allow universal features and only support aac an sbc. paying almost 300 bucks for you can't use half the features or even listen to high res audio is wild.
also in terms of eco system its basically the same as the others. apple themselves havet done anything new they just copied old stuff from samsung google or sony and put a new name on it. apple 360 audio was literally sony old spatial audio but just 5 years late lol. If you are using sony on a sony phone you get access to ldac which great but 90 percent of other products support ldac. apple has its own codec only for iphone 15 using apple music and using airpods pro 2. even in thier own eco system its limited barely cd quality music for just those 3 working together. sony laptops, tablets, phones, earbuds and other devices support ldac dolby atmos etc.

Do I need the app
No. You don’t need the app but it will allow you to activate features you may want such as configuration of tapping the earphone and firmware updates for the earphones. To use the earphones you don’t require the app to be running in background memory.
mic quality is crap in a slightly noisy environment. Pity he couldnt figure this out "6 months later", seems more like a 6 minutes later review!
Absolutely agree, five versions over the span of two products and 10+ years of rnd it’s still one of the worst mics around. If you want good sound but also a good mic I recommend Jabra hands down.

@@Neo-nw7fo i expect much better! Huawei freebuds 3 pro - try that if you could and then u gonna be wondering how good bluetooth could be. The point is - the mic placements and the AI needs to be functional.

I use them on a daily basis and find the mic quality brilliant. Maybe you should be less critical of the reviewer and smell the roses. @av365.
Bose Quietcomfort Ultra is the best for ANC right now, nothing comes close to it.

I bought them as soon as they came out and gave my xm4 away.
Two things bother me with the Xm5
1) Either i am getting crazy or the cancellation of voices has gotten worse after every update reaching a point where now i can understand 100% of what people around me are saying when i am not listening to music and have noise cancelling on. I have the feeling but that the Xm4 where better in this and its the first time it bothers me that much. I was in the train and the earphone completely blocked the train noise so i could then clearly hear the much too loud lady with her gang loughing and talking . They were sitting around 4-5 meters away.
2) Dunno who made this choice with the „piano lacquer „ aesthetic but i must have dropped them more than multiple dozen times till now. They are extremely slippery especially in the winter when fingers get cold and dry.
Airpods pro is more comfortable

The wind test was a joke tbh. Test them on a bike or whatever with wind, you get a different result.
DO NOT BUY XM5.I just bought the xm5 and returned them with WITH 10 MINS. the earbuds burn my ear and are extremely uncomfortable. Sound is meh compared to samsung

the X4's are terrible, a huge purchase regret, a clunky product built seemingly without any user friendliness. I will not consider Sony earbuds again

I disagree. They don't stay in my ears and none of the included ear tips could get a good seal. I wish I could return mine. I think they suck.
Just get aftermarket tips....

Why dont anyone compare and review the mikes on this earphones, they suck and suck bad, for 299 earbuds not to even be able to use them for talking is horrible, every review should include how good are they with talking and this are super bad how can this be , why do people keep giving them heigh reviews when they cannot be used to have conversation, sounds horrible muddy and unusable, lets not forget that buds are used for talking too not just music , please pay close attention to their mike funtion

@@jaredccain Try making a call and find out yourself, i have to talk without this earbuds or my family and friends complain and it sounds muffled and inaudible across various apps and unusable in my opinion for audio i resorted to use my old jabra which performs lot better with phone calls
They sound hollow. Bass is terrible. I gave them to my mom. She loves them. I'm running Momentum 3's. Much fuller sound.
Edit: I went to this channel's history and didn't see any Sennheiser reviews. None. Look elsewhere for sound advice.
