i really gotta say that domination right now is muuuuch more interesting for me than land battles!
suddenly i find myself skipping land battles in search for domination. the strategies and build are all so varied and every faction seems (kind of) viable, just awesome!

What are you talking about, only milkandcookies is still putting out content about actual armies instead of this thing. Turin hasn't put out a land battle in ages.

I just won a game with 2 Doomwheels vs WE, it was so fun.
Sweet game with cool builds on both sides. I can honestly say this embodied the spirit of what the ideal match of domination should look like. While it may have ultimately came down to winning the value trade the objectives were still key in shaping the battle and how engagements took place. Which to me is how the game mode can be MUCH more compelling than land battle, when the objectives can't be ignored even when a game doesn't necessarily get decided by points.

What a match! A real nail-biter with those two huge demons just looming over the field. Love to see the way strategies and builds evolve to fit the new game-mode.
I'm terrible at MP, but I really like watching these matches.
Something I only just realized myself on my recent Brettonia play-through is that Blessed Trebuchets actually have pretty terrible explosion damage compared to normal trebuchets but hit single targets like a truck.
Really Loving the direction this game is taking by now^^ Variety feels like it is steadily growing as patches come out and players start experimenting around!

There was one other player that took dwarfs to the finals of your faction wars. I believe it was "Grombrindal/Chad Thorgrim". But Eumaies was the first to do so.
Dom certainly looks more interesting seeing Bloodthirsters come out! I loved running an Exalted BS for a long time, despite the meta being more Skarbrand or Herald, which I was sad cause imo Exalted BS is cooler than Skarbrand, more versatile than "point, click and die", can use it for so many different things.
Only thing I worry about is the artillery focus it's gotten for any faction that has one. I love Bretonnia, but I hate babysitting the trebuchets, equally I love playing Khorne but I hate having to worry about mass artillery that'll be camping by a reinforcement point and you're gonna be forced to probably run mobile sacrifices just to trade out the trebuchets. In land battles you don't have those issues or forced into the playstyle, there's more risk to the reward.
That doesn't feel like a versatile and flexible meta. Atleast on heavy terrain maps you can work around it, but with tournaments leaning on flat open maps (and wanting to create more like them), that feels very artillery favored with little risk and high reward.
Hopefully that's not all true and I hope for more better changes to keep ranged viable but not as heavy on the camping for those that has them and forced rushing for those that do not.

Cool game and the builds were awesome, he had the counter to your trebuchet spam that kinda failed, and you had the counter to his bloodthirsters that worked ;p

Damn, that bug where the units just decide to rub against the enemy rather than fight hit Khorne hard there holy shit, I think those minotaurs threw like 6 strikes that battle. That's like 1500 gold evaporated. What a shame, because I've seen firsthand what those minos can do, they beat basically everything large not called Kugath.
How would you feel about giving up a trebuchet for the beastslayers? feel like they would be good here against all the large targets like flesh hounds and would trade okay into chaos warriors

14:15 looks like the minotaurs aren't attacking alberic, I think this is a known bug but it's a bit sad when it's happening to as expensive a unit as GW minos
Yeah, I did notice that he took NO damage from that engagement, but didn't quite understand why
This explains it, bugs killed the minotaurs, Khorne could probably win without that bug

@Turin I want to suggest a small change to the stats page for Total Tavern. I suspect this has been brought up before but I think the win percentage calculation should exclude mirror matches. Mirror matches are counted as 2 games and always have a 50% win rate so they weight the win percentage towards the 50% mark. I think this makes the win percentage a bit misleading when it comers to faction strength. It is a small difference (e.g WOC are at 71% but go to 74.5% when mirror matches are excluded) , especially now when relatively few games have been played but I think excluding mirror matches gives a better indicator.
Those Khorne marauders really don't enjoy baths.
Lizardmen get the unlimited ammo bug too, they've been really fun. Solid infantry backed up by beast artillery that never run out of ammo.

Are Brettonian bows no longer viable, or can they still be used effectively? Does this apply in campaign too?
Would love another best/worst unit for each faction video. A lot has changed since your last one.
@Turin Maybe instead of changing the ticket count, CA can make it so that if you control 3 caps, you get extra 1-2 ticks? What is your thought on that? I think that's better because some factions can still play the mouth-breathing strat of standing on 2 caps and win currently.

I guess lance formation isn't good since good players like Turing isn't using it? Would be cool if they buffed it since that's like a pretty huge part of bretonnia and why their cavalry is special/strong.

Don't think it would've affected the outcome of the game whatsoever but its still a bit frustrating to see all those minotaurs just stagger in place instead of attacking when they got the surround on Alberic. Not sure if they got even a single attack animation through.
In my experience, khorne halberds are really hard to beat with brets

The blood effects look so terrible on the pegasus knights. Just giant low res splotches everywhere in nonsensical location. The blood DLC is such a low effort cash grab.

The problem with Bretonnia is the fact that they are just too predictable.The only playstyle Bretonnia provides is cavalry and people will counter that quite easily whereas plenty of races can play in various ways - melee infantry focused, range focused, monster focused etc.

The change seems to be a good one... but the details are not there yet. Now there is very little incentive to focus your attention on capturing points. If I were a sweaty player, I would focus my attention solely on killing enemies. Its interesting in its own way, and my original hopes way back when were close to something like this. On the other hand... if the players could customize the experience, then I could just set the capture points sliders to the sweet spot, once I find it. Because now we have to play the game and generate data and feedback so CA will hopefully change things in October. Still, its a good direction. The trash spam meta was the dumbest meta in the history of the trilogy.

It gets boring seeing yet ANOTHER army with 50% missile cavalry or an army consists of 3 x SEM's and nothing else of note.
