- This is the 5th Tire I have tested on my Tesla Model Y to see how tires affect the range and comfort of the vehicle. Continental works with Tesla on the factory 19" tires so in this video we see how it does compared to other tires in the same range.

Absolutely LOVE your videos!
Clear, concise, and hard-hitting... With a bit of comical relief. 👍
Thank you for these tests. Unlike so many people testing/comparing products with inadequate test parameters, I really appreciate your efforts in making these tests as fair and consistent as you can.
You're welcome
Hey love your videos and have been watching them for a long time now. Your videos are actually the reason why I traded in my Mustang and got my first Tesla. Just picked it up less than a week ago! Thanks again for all that you do on here.
I appreciate the support!
Our model Y came with Continental Pro Contact RX tires. Extremely puncture prone! In 6k miles, 4 punctures, including 3 that resulted in ruined tires.
Yes, they are very quiet and good for range, but very soft.
Our neighbor had the exact same experience with the same tires. Numerous punctures.
We have moved on to Michelin now.
Omg I was just watching your recent tire videos and this came up man so glad you did
Wrap it in Scheffler Orange! Let’s go!
THE TREE EDIT 🤣
WOW! What a beautiful, professional , concise and informative video. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice shot staging on this one. 👍
Also appreciate the tire content.
did they forget the performance model again?? still only 2-3 options for us
I really like your content and how you do serious work for your community but never take yourself too seriously. Wish more CZcamsrs were like this.
You had fun with this one and it made an otherwise boring subject just a little better
Wow . . . the Continental tire is .05 seconds quicker from 0-60 . . . clearly within the margins of error. How does that test translate to better tire performance, and why?
You always crack me up.
would you recommend the continental tire over the Hankooks?
I’ve been watching your videos for a while now great videos. I love your one liners. You leave it in the part about the girls yelling, but it being a guy was the highlight. it’s little things like that every single video that I appreciate and keep me coming back
Thanks for posting. Didn't see the Continental link in the description.
Purely coincidence, I just put continental extreme contacts dws06 plus on my model 3. In love.
I just took delivery of my Model Y with the 19" wheels and it came with Continental tires, but not these with the T2 marking.
Hey Gjeebs, what auto frunk opener do you recommend? If you dont have a current video on this accessory, I for one would love to see your thoughts.
I have these tires with my 2024 Model Y LR. It has the T2 marking on it.
How are these different than the stock Continentals that have been OEM since 2021?
What is your thought on the Nokian WRG-5 tires?
Now the Pirelli Scorpion T0 Model Y 19" tire?
@Gjeebs, just picked up a set of Falken’s Ziex ZE 960 all season performance tires. Are you open to testing non specific EV tires? The Falkens have a high wear rate and are rated to be good in dry and wet conditions. I’m not worried about range decreasing, I’m curious what you’d find compared to the EV tires you’ve tested.
I bought my 2021 MY Standard Range brand new. I'm still rockin' and rollin' on the stock tires (yeah, they're hella bald, but no metal wires poking out yet). They are the same Conti's that Ben is reviewing here, except that mine are marked as "T0" not "T2". Soooo that kinda contradicts what Ben was told about only S&X's getting the "T0" cohort. Who cares, anyway?
What’s our best tire option for the 21” wheels ? Peacefrom510.
How well do those Vion wheel covers hold up in car washes?
Does any company make them for 19” wheels?
are you trying the continental DWS 06 plus?
Ben, why are you finally reporting on the Continental ProContact RX T2 tires which were the OEM tires on my 2022 Model Y LR car? My 2nd anniversary of ownership is this week. Looks like my ProContact's will not make it to 36,000 miles. So, should I replace them with Hancook EVO ION AS tires?
Best tire for my Tesla? One that doesn't blow out unexpectedly while on vacation!
First road trip in my model 3 with 7000 miles had driver rear either blow out or sustain a puncture on the inside wall.
Tesla service didn't cover the area but they said they would send a flatbed and cover the cost of the tow. Tire and service $400.
Tow company kept saying would be another hour after 2 hours and with tow, Tesla shop would have been closed. Thank God two Rhode Island good samaritans jacked my car up, took off the wheel and left me borrow their vehicle to drive it to a tire shop for a new tire (non EV but similar tire tread).
So, my OEM Michelin caused great stress. Otherwise I was super happy with how the Tesla performed, the supercharger network and how comfortable it was to drive from Pittsburgh to Newport.
You all growns up jeebs. Look at that transition and editing work. You're like the new Casey Neistat of Teslsa reviews.
Do u still have the luxury kit on your Y or is this stock. How do you feel about the kit…
Perf tire comparison might include a braking test. And a skid pad for lateral grip - I know, that might be harder to setup, but it’d be cool to see the comparison.
Please could you give the Goodyear Electricdrive 2 a shot?
This is great info but it does not give us any inkling of the expected number of miles before replacement. The Hankook iON evo AS and iON evo AS IH01 tires come with a 50,000-mile limited treadwear warranty. The iON evo A/S tire is designed for electric vehicles (EVs) and focuses on mileage and performance. I dont know about the other manufacturers in the test but you should at least state theirs. This is extremely relevant information as many of us have gotten only 20 or 30 miles on a set before the bars of the tread demand a replacement. But thank you very much for what you have done. Its another factor in the purchase of a replacement set.
He mentioned it at 2:50 in the video and also put a link to the warranty. Looking up the tire, it looks like it's 55k mile warranty
@@GraysonA This has to do with the 12 month limited warranty for road hazards like nails and has nothing to do with the regular pro rated tread warranty which we want to know about. And in real like how far will these tires go. Its important because many of us have older teslas and have gotten only 20 or 30K out of a set.
@@shepardsmith3235 It's not the 55k mile warranty that I mentioned? It's 55k for V rated version and 65k for S/T rated version. I have no clue then.
@@GraysonA I see what you mean. This is great most V rated tires are not that high. Also too what is their pro ration percentages. And most important, in the real world how far do these tires go before they need to be changed. . He didnt even discuss it as he should. The Evos are OEM on the 3s I believe which says alot. Would love him to go into the whole issue of how long are the treadwear warranties on the five tires he had and how long did they last and how did they perform in ordinary driving and stopping. Its a bit much for the above limited comparison but its a big issue to us that have to by the best replacement tires for our Teslas. Fortunately now manufactures like Hankook are designing EV specifc tires that can handle the added weight of the batteries and has lower rolling resistance for mileage. We all dread range anxiety and it finally happened to me. I left my S at a Marriott outdoor lot when we went away for a week and never considered powering it down to save battery life. Well now i do! It was tough getting the 62 miles home with about 30 odd percent of the battery left. So I went on the turnpike stayed in the right lane with my flashers on and went 45. You cant imagine what kind of mileage I was getting. Now I try to keep it right at 70 and things are not bad. My S is old though I love it. its a 2016 D with a 70kwh battery. You learn something new about your tesla regularly. N'est Pas.
Is there a tesla tire that is harder to get more range?
Are you testing 0-60 with 100% charge? My 1/4 miles time improves the higher my state of charge.
Yo Gjeebs, where do you get all your tires mounted/removed?
Wheel specialists in Tempe AZ.
I am ONLY interested in range enhancement ! 💪
continental is 400 threadwear compared to 600 for hancoock so...they are pretty soft
You can't compare that number between different brands
Continental kommt bei uns hier aus Korbach/Germany, die Reifen sind sehr gut.
I just need a tire that's going to last more than ~20K miles. My first set of Goodyear Eagle F1s lasted like 18,500 miles on my '23 MYLR.
You got me interested in looking at these instead of the Hankooks for my 2024 M3P, but man are the reviews bad on the continental site.
try the hankooks then. I have those as well and they are great
@Gjeebs that's the plan. The continental offer far more tire sizes though. Bet it would easier to pair a good size combination with those.
This would be way more interesting if you tested the cheapest no name tire on eBay
It sucks that this tire doesn't fit the 20" rims. Tesla 20" tires are 255/40/20, the only size in 20s from Continental is 245/40/20.
My parents got pirelli tires on the model y they ordered
22MY, 19,000 miles, 19” Contis have 6.5/32” left. They start with 9/32”. This puts me on track for about 40k miles. I don’t understand all the poor mileage reports. Also, no punctures. My 2 cents.
No matter what tire I review people say that. They most likely don't rotate their tires or drive aggressively
If you're putting numbers on the screen, please consider adding metric.
It’s great that these are great all around by for 50% more money than the sailun tires, I’m not sure it’s worth it
The sailing tires are 250
Continental tires suck on a model y they lasted me 21000 Miles went with the new Goodyear EV tires. They're awesome. No problems like I had with the Continenta. Goodyear EV tires are quiet and they even protect the rim. Can't beat it and Goodyear came to my house to install them. I got four tires for $1100
I have the Goodyear EV. Love the way they hold the road even in rain that made the continentals slip and slide. But they ride ruff.
Continental's have been great so far. 33k and still going
first
Most reviewers complain about the short life of these tires. 10-20k miles
Exactly my tires has only lasted a little over 20,000 MI Continentals suck. I went with the Goodyear EVS. They're quiet. They grip the road. Great! And they protect the rim from curb rash
My tires on Acura lasted me 40k miles and still have some 10-15k juice left .. I guess this is the only negative maintenance for electric cars
400 wear rating is a deal breaker
Michelin CrossClimate is the best tires for the Model Y
unnecessary
Stop buying EV tires. Buy good quality standard SUV ICE tires matching the same size. They have a higher load and speed rating. They are quieter and smoother. The rubber sets proud from the rim, preventing rim rash. Sure, you might lose a fraction amount of range, but it's well worth it! Finally, they last twice as long.
You think the only downside is range? Or is there anything else?
@@qman66 None that I can tell. I think foam-filled EV tires are just a gimmick to sell more expensive tires that wear out faster.
