- Simba is the star of Animal Watch's episode on the Chinese version of the Tibetan Mastiff. He is a Chinese import and looks every bit the way the Chinese have modified the old working line, to look larger, longer coat and brighter more lion-like colours. It is claimed that these new looks have only been achieved by the delivery of new dog DNA into the old breed from other dog breeds such as the Chow Chow, the Pyranees, other large mastiffs etc

@@marmitenot. Bro the showline dogs are super expensive because they are selectively bred for looking like lion. These dogs are not functional and can't survive as a livestock guard dog at 4200+ meter elevation Tibetan plateau. The actual working line tibetan mastiff from extremely rural villages of Himalayas will sell amazing dogs for 200-500 dollars. Yes, they don't have papers, but those are true working line dog

I never would have guessed that there were NO deviations from his core breed. It's amazing that he has been bred down to the specimen that he represents. He is truly an ambassador of his bloodline. What a beautiful beast!

Oh I remember Simba!!! He’s even bigger now, I’m dead!😱 I was shocked at his dna test results...def assumed there was something else in there. So glad to know he’s going to be a healthy boy💗 His coat is magnificent!! He still has a lovely disposition too-from those other dog’s photos, you’d think he’d take ur hand off, but he seems just as lovely as when he was younger💗

I’m fascinated by the dogs on your channel,
It would be great if you would make an additional segment on what is necessary to care for these breeds. For example, what size space they need for comfort and exercise, etc.
I in a historic neighborhood in Chicago, and I often see
very large breeds kept in small townhouses and apartments with little outdoor space. I can’t imagine that these owners or dogs are very happy
That was REALLY exciting I think you should do it with more breeds that have natural occurring mutations and then breeders come in and selectively breed them. Because people typically think they're not purebred and this was a great idea I was sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time 😂
Love the vids, I would love to see Simba with Maximus, the largest Tibetan Mastiff and Caucasian Sheperd in the UK. Same thing what you did with the XL Bully and Pocket Bully.

Fabulous result. I know a Tibetian Mastiff that looks like the working breed but he also has that immense coat. It's a giant fluff ball coming your way, I jump of my bike every time I come across him. So soft!

Simba is such a good boy to be able to take the swabbing without any protest.
The results could be skewed because of a narrow database. I will be watching for the next test. And I wonder if the DNA testing companies would reveal what they have in their database?
Embark has also been proven to only be accurate up to three generations back. Since you can easily have three (or more) generations living at once, that isn’t very far and doesn’t really “prove” anything.

Its a mix of Tibettian mastiff or himalyan mastiff with chow chow. Pure Himalyan mastiff are not like this and they don't need the care like this genetic modified dog. also they live upto 15 -18 years. unlike chinese tibetian mastiff whos life span is 8 years.

@@__siddop__4152 it's not necessarily mixed, they can be purebred, they've just been bred for looks solely they've been ruined, genetic reliability is a secondary thought. These dogs are going to overheat in minutes outside and are basically useless except for being cool looking.

That is such a beautiful and Mellow dog, I would think he would have Golden Retriever somewhere in his blood line. I did like the Tibetan Mastiff episode, but my favorite will always be the Newfoundland episode.

Are you going to use the company the person from Instagram was talking about? My husband brought up a good point, he suggests you test one of the original sized Tibetan Mastiffs to compare the results. I'm not sure if you're able to do that.

Ive just started a puppy training diploma and my 1st module is natural selection and artificial selection. Would it be fair to say that selective breeding could be different from artificial selection in the fact that by selecting dogs of the same breed to get longer coats like Simba versus artificial selection which creates mix breeds and designer dogs?

Good channel but with 600k you really ought to up the production value. Better lavalier microphones so we can hear you, better cameras so we can see you and possibly subtitles too. I think a new intro, logo and even editor might go a long way.
It's not garbage by any means but it still all seems pretty "startup" despite the huge sub count. I think an editor who understands sound values would be good because trying to hear the faint voices without subtitles through a music background track is kinda subconsciously putting some people off potentially.
But hey, I could be wrong. Just constructive criticism cause I like the channel and your personality

Tibetan Mastiff has two different types called Dokhai and Tyangkhai basically a working type which is leaner and more agile and the other is what Simba looks like in the video.
This woman is no ordinary human . All I have ever heard trainers say to people eis not to be in a dogs face -but all these dogs just melt for her in their faces even though she's a strangers

DNA test can only go so far in the dogs DNA, there are some CTMs that are mixed with other dogs to get that size, this is like when people say merle poodle is purebred and silver labs are purbred.

He's a beautiful dog. Regardless of what I think . I can go with selective breeding but still think something has been added to change a breed so much . Have use to groom my mate newfoundland dog I can say his grooming is a long old job . May the owner have many happy years with Simba
White is not a color marked by the ancient original lines of TM's. That alone makes him not 100% TM. It's clear he's not.
Glad to see this guy has not been shafted on this dogg and hes healthy atm, hopefully has a great life and maybe some puppies 🙏
