I played against Luke aged 14 & 15, him and David Healey were the best players at MUFC by far. However, Luke was the most humble by far and no matter how hard I tried to kick him, he just smiled and carried on! Lol great memories!
Great interview. For those who knew this era.. Strangely, of these 3 ex pros, I rated. Steve Sidwell the most as a player. Solid midfielder with goals.
On the mental side, Luke's experience reminds me of going through school wearing thick glasses. So much taunting; 4 eyes etc. Also had a squint which ripped me to bits. Even some teachers joined in. And you couldn't speak about it then like is possible today. I had to fight myself (literally) to develop any shred of self confidence.
Different era back then and if nothing else, it toughen you up.
Loved Luke at United. Really dynamic player.

as a united fan i always thought LC was a decent player but he was always gonna give way to the bigger names. No ego with him though and he sounds a likeable honest bloke. He should be proud of his career and im sure hes done well out of the game. Good interview

Went to Meldreth Primary school with Luke.
Life long Cambridge Utd fan who finished his career at Cambridge Utd, enjoyed watching him play at the abbey stadium many times.

Keane is still the best Midfielder I've ever seen in premier league football history.
Wanted Keane at Liverpool. Gutted he went to utd.

@@CJ0101 never saw Gerrard get the better of him. Funny enough, Keane's last game was at Anfield. He was 36 and his two legs were gone and he needed a hip replacement and didn't give Gerrard a kick off the ball all game.

Reminds me of my time at everton was a great 4 years injuries ended up letting me down and didn't make it, then tranmere, Wigan and Wrexham all the same shit body just let me down left football for 3 years then had 6 months at chorley... man I miss football wish I would of had a little more luck and a little more talent maybe you would know my name 😪...😂 deal with the cards your dealt and make the best of it, life is too short 😉 💙
