Making a Lure Turner/Tumbler Turner, Space saving turner that folds up.

  • If you use a lure turner to clear coat your lures, or you use a tumbler turner for your painted tumblers, you need to watch this DIY turner video. I know lots of us making lures are working in tiny spaces that maybe doubles as a closet or utility room. Using up a bunch of space for a big bulky lure turner is just not feasible. So I decided to design a lure turner that collapses into a small easily stored box when not in use. This video shows you every step.

    If you're wondering where to get the small 110 volt low RPM motor, I put a link at the bottom of the description. But just a little tip, those are microwave turntable motors. If you have an old microwave you'll see at the bottom a small access plate. The little motor is easy to remove. As always if you choose to work on appliances you do so at your own risk, be careful.
    Here's the link to the motor I used.

    I don't have any sch 20, so what I did was insert a 3/4" sch 40 into the adapter and used a 7/8" forstner bit to widen out the reducers. The 1/2" PVC fits well. At the back end of the reducer there is a stop in which the 1/2" cannot fit through. The 7/8" forstner bit remedied that issue as well.

    I build one with your design with some modifications but just for materials. It work pretty well but in time the shaft attached to the motor has been loosen a little so it vibrates during rotation from time to time. The reason why is because the pins are plastic. I intend to change them for metal. I suspect that the abuela is from Colombia due to her accent wich pleases me a lot since I ‘m colombian too.
    I enjoy a lot your videos and that is because you are so technical and scientific in your concepts. And being my self a surgeon well I get your explanations relatively easy and apply those to my lures. By the way they are not so perfect like yours but allow me to make some nice captures.
    Thanks Franco for your teaching. You are and avid angler and I’m eager to learn and I have achieve that with you.

Soup, tuna and coffee cans are key.)

    When you made the insert tube and filled it with resin. You drilled a hole that is parallel. Please explain to the others how you did it, as not to make it a wobble thingamajig. I used to turn pens. So, I used my tube centering drilling jig and drill press to make that perfect in line hole.

    • @EngineeredAngler
      @EngineeredAngler  Před měsícem

      I simply found the center by drawing lines across the diameter then drilled it by hand. The motor turns so slowly that even if my hole was slightly off center it would not affect the function of the turner and would be difficult to notice. Thanks for the question.
