Love the guy, I really do. But I just can't help thinking his height and reach are gonna let him down at elite hw level. He'll steamroll his way up to the top 5 easily, but then,,, well I'm just not sure..

I think with some of the top boxers, his movement will allow him to slip a Jab, work on the inside and exit untouched. He has the talent to pull it off but actually doing it is a different story. I think he can school ruiz, parker, povetkin and ortiz but would struggle with the big 3. I believe he is capable of out boxing both Joshua and wilder but it would take the perfect fight to do it due to their power. I think Fury's boxing IQ and reach will be too much for Usyk though.
He will probably study Rocky Marciano who was master at fighting taller bigger opponents.

He looks the same size as he was at cruiserweight. Hell, I agree keeping your speed is the most important thing, but I was kind of hoping he could keep all his speed and magically grow much bigger, sort of like Canelo going to 160. But maybe Usyk doesn't have access to the same high quality beef? Either way I was hoping to see him bigger, stronger, and 100% as fast. Not 98%, not even 99%, but 100%. Like Canelo at 160.
But, maybe looks are deceiving. Hoping for the best. Boxing needs an ambassador for the sport, a true champion, as heavyweight king, like Usyk. Nothing against Fury and Joshua, they also have never ducked a challenge, but I hope Usyk comes out on top. If Wilder truly rematches a healthy Fury after taking the entertaining action fight vs the old Ortiz, then I will finally give him props too after it happens next February, but so far all he's done his entire career is fight 40 cherry picked guys, wait for Ortiz to get old, and then try to catch Fury before he was healthy.
Not a single PRIME HEALTHY top opponent. That's why if that continues, he would be a horrible heavyweight champion. But as long as he has to go through healthy Fury to do it, then he will have earned it for real this time at least in one fight. I'll give him props for the one, and then if he keeps fighting 2 top guys a year from then on, I'll support him.
@Billy Cain Every cruiserweight is technically a heavyweight on fight night unless they rehydrate 0 pounds, which is unheard of. But REAL heavyweights of this era are 230 to 260 pounds. Usyk at cruiserweight was probably 210 or 215 in the ring, although it would be great to know exactly so we could have a better gauge on this. At heavyweight I was hoping he could get up to 230 without losing any speed. At least 225. Maybe that's what he is now, who knows. Based on my _assumptions_ about his cruiserweight weight, he looks more like 220 now, but again who knows.
Some light guys can take a great punch. It's not encouraging Usyk went down on a body shot in the amateurs, though, or that Bellew snapped his head at cruiserweight. When punches land on him, his body responds a bit elasticky, like he's got lots of muscle but not the bone density to have an iron chin at cruiserweight let alone heavyweight. But he gets hit so little that it's hard to really say for sure. Gassiev hit him with only a glancing shot on the chin and it still wobbled his legs a bit, again a bad sign for his chin, but then again Gassiev even at cruiserweight might punch as hard as Joshua or Wilder at heavyweight, minus the explosive surprise aspect, who knows. It's always hard to compare without a lot of data.
We'll just have to see how it goes. Is there any info about Usyk's chin?
There is a video on you tube some where where usyk says 99kg is his optimum weight that’s 218lb so I think he is there and has been for a while

Watched him through Cruiserweight. The thing with him is he's very precise and particular about his skills he uses. He minimizes his energy and uses it where he needs it. Just because he hasn't shown his power all the time doesn't mean he doesn't possess power. I can guarantee you he will show his power in this division when he has too. Should watch some of his fights and you'll see what I'm talking about. This first fights definately going to be a good gauge for Usyk.
