I’m rewatching this after he’s been found guilty. And listening to Poot talking this BS. I can understand why people in the beginning didn’t think the state had anything. They wrapped it all up in a neat little bow at the end of 6 weeks. When Waters gv them that amazing closing connecting all the pieces together, it was brilliant.
Thank you for streaming this for free! Y’all are MVP’s!!!
As it should be free. Court is a public event. Open to the public at no cost. I suggest you watch cases in your local courthouse some time.
Thankfully the sound in this courtroom is audible, unlike some other trials recently where it was a struggle to hear what was being said.
Like the Alex jackson one, where the defence lawyer was almost defiant about NOT using the microphone! He should have been heavily reprimanded, but that judge was too meek and mild to say BOO to a ghost.
I'm kind of surprised that (for whatever reason) the judge would stop the prosecutions opening statements less than 20 min. into them. It's not good for the momentum of opening statements (unless there's an emergency).
Also, I'm hearing someone in the audience who's hacking away. They should eject anyone in the audience who comes into the courtroom and hacks throughout. It happened during another high-profile case (can't remember which one) when someone just coughed incessantly throughout the trial. It can drown out the proceedings and is so distracting.
If only the dogs could talk, they seen the whole thing

If dogs could talk I’d like to hear from Dieter about what happened that morning in August in the house
The dogs were barking like crazy in the body cam footage. They were trying to tell their story.
I like that the attorneys introduced their team to the jury.
Alex had the motive, means and opportunity. Hard to argue with that

Hmm. He's innocent until proven guilty. So far, I've heard nothing that makes me think he's guilty, but it's still early. Need to hear all of the evidence. Very sad, disturbing case.
@@AllThingsSoulI’m with yo! So many in live chat are convinced he is guilty based on the rumour mill.If any one of those people were in his shoes they would want a fair trial !!!!!
Thank you!
Yall are THE BEST! THANKS!~
To bad this judge couldn’t be used in kohbergers case, he retired
Quite honestly, I think they gave him the benefit of the doubt when this first happened. If you'll remember, it took a minute before the original prosecutor removed himself from the case. They probably could have gotten more evidence from his clothes, etc if he wasn't buddies with all the people in law enforcement and the DA's office.
Money buys innocence in most judicial systems in the world unfortunately.
I think you are correct. 😢
I agree. I can't believe, in later parts of the trial, the level of sloppiness and inconclusive evidence from the SLED investigators. Either they dropped the ball or they were bought out
@blitznliz1865 Who was the original prosecutor in this case?
The defense attorney's descriptions of Paul and Maggie's injuries are so gruesome. I understand he's trying to make an impact, but holy hell, their family is sitting in the courtroom! How many times do you really need to say and describe Paul's head exploding and his brain flying out for the jury to understand the gravity?
I don't know, he just seemed so unaffected, there was no delicacy or sadness when he spoke about their brutal deaths. He talked about them the same way he talked about the cell phone.
What’s so disgusting is that the maid could die and her money stolen and life went on for these people until he killed his wife and son and it was uncovered that he was stealing money from the law firm. Bunch of hypocrites. Good old boy politics at its finest. S Carolinas finest on full display. SMH
Thank for sharing
I love judge Newman! This is the third, case I've watched him, try. He's an honorable, honest man of THE LAW.
I wasn’t sure a judge was there. He never has any input. Plus, he’s very biased toward the defense. He only knows how to say overruled for them.
"Thrown outside of the phone". Great defense attorney.
I'm rewatching. Still a facinating case.
Alec says he didn't go to the kennels (1/3 mile away) and stayed in the main house "napping" after eating dinner with Paul and Maggie between 8:15 and 8:30PM. The police believe Maggie and Paul were killed on or around 8:50-8:53PM. Why would Alec not hear the many shot gun and rifle shots at the kennel 1/3 mile from the main house? This is a quiet rural property where gun shots would surely be noticed so close to one's home and family members.
I share a country property with my parents and brother. Sometimes they start talking about how they went out, shooting off the deck or out the front but I didn’t hear it at all. Once he went nearly to my house and shot a bad bird who was killing the good birds, off a high line but I definitely didn’t hear that
I always believed if Alex stayed at his Moms for HOURS, he would not have been charged. The prosecution would have to explain why it was no one else on property for HOURS. Stupid Alex condensed the timeline and made it unbelievable that a stranger came on property and murdered in forty five minutes.
I may have a unpopular opinion but I thought the defense opening was good.
I also can look at this case with a open mind since I know nothing about it. From what I’ve heard, there’s not too many ppl who doesn’t know about this case so I guess I’m one of few. I wish all jurors were in my situation, this way ppl would get a fair trial.
I’m going to try & get through this trial without listening to anything about this case & see what my thoughts are as I go along & at the end.
If anyone sees this comment at the end of the trial & wants to ask my opinion then, I’d be happy to come back & answer.
I also don’t know anything about this case , which is rare bc I follow a ton of true crime cases. Really looking forward to following this case through with a non biased juror perspective! Love your user name btw! Bong cheers! 😂 looking forward to seeing your comments as this case progresses!
@@breemcbride8988 thank you! I also follow a lot of cases but this one passed me by somehow lol. Look forward to hearing yours as well. Ii just finished day 2 & so far the defense seems to be doing a ok job. He also sounded upset to me on the 911 call. I’m still on the fence because there’s a lot more to hear.
I wasn't too impressed with the prosecution's opening statement. I haven't gotten to the defense yet. I have heard of this case a little but don't know much about the details. So I plan on watching this with an open mind and let the evidence determine what I think happened.

Please Tag me with your opinion when the trial is over.
Paul was the apple of his eye until he crashed that boat which would eventually lead to Alex's downfall.
He had been in other trouble that Alex had to clean up
The opening statement by the prosecutor was stellar. That's how its done.
Really? I found it typical
When the prosecutor says " what's up? What's up? " 🤣🤣🤣 about why he didn't drive to the kennels before goin to check on his mom even though he'd called his wife 2 and text once before heading out and with the kennel bein so close 🤔
Exactly! I wonder if he would have to drive by the kennels to leave the property? Also, who's calling 5 or 6 people after 9pm on the 20 minute ride to mom's house, and why visiting her so late? I definitely think he was trying to establish an alibi
Why can buster listen to the trial, yet testify? Normally your not allowed to listen to testimony/opening statements etc if you are a witness.
Love this judge wish he could do kohberger case
So did Alex know about the kennel video on the first day or before it starts.
People in loving relationships do also commit murder when they feel like their hand is forced
So many commercials for such a short video.
So I guess the shirt with the high velocity blood spatters was not allowed in as his defence attorneys wanted?
If the defense believes that 2 people committed the murders, couldn't it have been Alex and his cousin from the suicide attempt or hired help?
The other person could hide the weapon and bloody clothes, and ditch Maggie's phone, while Alex tried to establish his alibi with the phone calls and visit to his mom's house.
You’re doing a whole lot of jumping through hoops (especially with circumstantial theories) and no sold evidence. The evidence should speak for itself. We shouldn’t be theorising because of whatever. We shouldn’t want people to go prison bc we ‘think’, they should be going prison bc we ‘know’. Even if there’s less convictions, it’s better bc it will save the many thousands of prisoners from having to be exonerated decades later. Many of the times those convicted on pure testimony or circumstantial and not linked on dna/or other physical evidences have been wrongfully assumed as the killer and the real killer is hiding in plain sight.
Ps. I’m not saying he’s guilty/innocent , but he’s presumed innocent rn
Sounds very improbable
The fact that he stands right next to his own son and literally blows his brains out THEN has the gall to tell his attorney to blame the whole thing on Paul because he was “very irresponsible and left guns everywhere even in the dog kennels.” Trying to allude that the “killers” had access to the guns only because Paul had left them there. Pure evil, spineless, despicable human.
Was this the only part of the trial today? My country is a day ahead on time zone, and trying to figure out if the openings were the only thing on 'day 1.'
Thankyou kindly
It only goes by day 1 day 2 day 3 etc.

has anyone noticed that the police tried to take him && he put the finger up to tell them to hold on....
He went to Mommies and cleaned himself !
Well he showered and washed his clothes at home with copious amounts of detergent. The housekeeper ended up washing some plus the bathroom and picked up a wet towel. He took the blue jacket to mom’s. I think he threatened the caregiver to say he slept there for 40 minutes instead of 20 because she cried hard at that point in her testimony.
Ok...objection your honor! The defense attorney is coming on a bit too strong and honestly, he's making us a little uncomfortable. Thanks

😂
Did his trial already end for the day?
Yes they are finished for today. Starts again at 9:30 tomorrow morning.
Probably. I think it started late due to picking jury members
Have not seen Alex’s clothes in the video of him and Paul driving around looking at trees, so it will e interesting to see if he had a coverup or different clothes.
Did he hire someone, provide the weapon and, watched?
****He could have fired/checked the gun and, loaded it.
Yes it will!
Didn’t they find a blue raincoat that Alex had taken to his parents and left at their house that night? Gun residue was found on the inside.
Maybe he stripped naked and put the raincoat on inside out, then redressed in the clothing he previously had on in the Snapchat video. He could have also been the one texting on Paul’s phone after the shooting.
People tend to forget about "Remote Start " on vehicles and just because his phone linked to the vehicle when it was started doesn't necessarily mean he was in it. I believe they said he had a Suburban so I know without a doubt that it can be started with an app on the phone. (Of course depending on the year), which would link his phone automatically via Bluetooth.
If he has the Bluetooth connected it would

Why does Buster always look giddy?
Can someone help me understand why witnesses (such as Buster) are sitting in the courtroom during the testimony of other witnesses? Isn't that usually NOT allowed? Thanks 🙂
Depends honestly. Depends on if other witnesses have information that can affect their testimony or what they are going to testify about. If they have information that can change from learning what others say or using other witnesses to back up a event. They generally won’t let them watch until they testify.
I asked the detectives this question when they asked if I was willing to testify against my stepbrother in my stepdads murder. I wanted to sit in from day 1 and watch him go down. Sadly, I never got the chance. He killed himself the day rumors started of a indictment. 🤷🏼♀️
I liked the defense attorney's opening statement. I especially liked the reminder that a jury is there to protect us as citizens from false imprisonment and tyranny at the hands of the police and the government. I think that often geys forgotten. He's right, most of us do assume guilt as soon as the cops say they've made an arrest; "innocent until proven guilty" seems to be the exception, especially in the age we live in, with social media and the internet, with everyone else's opinions right at our finger tios.
I k ow nothing about this case going into it and I'm really interested to see how this plays out, to see if the stare is able to prove to me, beyond a reasonable doubt, that he's actually guilty.
Sounds
Paul and Alex riding around at 7:30-8:00 at night looking at some trees they planted? Yeh, that's the way I spend my summer nights with my parents, too.
Eerily enough it sounds like the exact kind of nostalic wholesome stuff someone would do before k*lling you
Why does his Atty KEEP SAYING BUTCHERED!!! 🤷♀️
I don’t like how the defense lawyer talked here, talking about “ put one on the back of her head” or the watermelon about Paul’s head.
Herman Munster vibe.
We don’t know yet if he’s innocent or guilty I know what I believe, but him in the dock, trying to come across sincere when he’s acknowledging he got millions through his job, and still stole off his clients, I think he thinks he’s coming across as a nice guy , but it’s letting us see exactly what sort of person he is, vile is one word that springs to mind. I do hope he’s gets his dues. Despicable. 🇺🇦💙💪
*1:25:50* Just because they didn't find bloody clothes at his house doesn't mean there isn't any somewhere. Just saying.
I will keep listening before deciding one way or another.
Right? He threw the phone out of the window, he no double could have had a plastic bag and thrown it out down the road
*34:00* He gives me the creeps. Just something about him. Especially his eyes.
*44:00* That was a great analogy of circumstantial evidence!
*49:00* How many perpetrators use the victims' own gun to kill the victim? 🤔 Doesn't seem likely.
*51:40* He's killing this opening statement.
*53:52**-**55:00* I don't know much about Alex Murdaugh and his family. Pretty much going into this blind, having only heard something here or there. So far, I'm gathering they were extremely wealthy.
*1:02:30* Are there any videos of Alex's interrogation?
I have never been in a courtroom where the defendant gets to turn around and interact with his family… plus that sister Lynn is a warhorse..Lynn, Lizzie and Brookie have resting B face…Poot even said Elick checked the bodies first before calling 911….
Nobody is going to use two weapons unless they run out of ammo
You say stuff like that because you're not very smart.
Southern Baptist Preacher style repetition at the end of a statement they wish to emphasize...
Ok I've watched the prosecutions opening statements, it was good. Now I'm watching the defense opening statements, and yes he did an amazing job, "WOW" .....since day 1, when all this happened , I had 1 opinion, and yes I thought for sure, he killed his son and wife. Murdaugh...does have a very good attorney, I still think he did this , but let's see what happens, and which way it all turns out. Going to be a good one.
He has terrible old fogie attorneys who can’t remember anything. They are driving me crazy I think I’m about on day six, but I’m not seeing any solid evidence. I am thinking it’ll be circumstantial evidence, which I can’t stand.
How can defence say conclusively say it wasn't Alec who shot his wife and son when he wasn't there either.
Well he is recorded on video minutes before Maggie’s iPhone was shut down.
He did not ask for a tissue when he cried supposedly for his son and wife ... because he had no tears or snot . Therfore it had to be FAKED.
Oh course he gave them the code to get into his wife's phone. He wants proof he tried to call her. He did this before and after he killed them. He said he ran into the house after he found them. Probably plenty of time to clean up and change his clothes and get a different gun to show the officers. I think that is why there were so many tire tracks that the officer saw, because Alex drove off and got rid of the bloody clothes, gun and wife's cell phone on the side of the road. Then called 911, when he got back. His other son Buster, doesn't even seem upset. I think it was all about money and greed!! Defense can say he is innocent a million times, but until all the facts are in, he really shouldn't be saying that.
OK...TELL THE LADY COUGHIN HER HEAD OFF TO LEAVE!! DISRUPTION
No judgement here yet. Waiting to hear all of the FACTS before I make my own decision 💯
He got a little aggressive with the shotgun demonstration lol
What the hell objection for stating a fact and the prosecution got up there and speculated and got away with it they want him convicted this case will be currupt
White t-shirt and not a drop of blood on it - so he didn't touch the bodies of his loved ones to check a pulse- didnt turn them over (if face down) he keep away from the bodies then he def changed his clothes and knew to keep away so no blood transfer no dna transfer no nothing nice a clean white t-shirt and his dead wife and son . 🤔
But he said in the 911 call that he did touch them already when the dispatcher asked him not to touch them
Lotta peeps there 😂🎉
How come he's not in handcuffs?
Those are removed as they would bias a jury of guilt
Because he’s presumed innocent.
He’s likely shackled at the feet.
Thats right! Forgot!
I’m just now watching this trial, saw the retrial case, the Becky Hill jury tampering, with judge Toal, she was awesome. So I never knew he stole from his firm, I know he was convicted for murders, just hope they investigated for all the people he cheated $$ from that might want revenge? I don’t know what happened with a boat accident, I’m in California so I never really heard of the Murdaughs, hope the trial will answer some ??s I have! Btw, I am a huge dog furrbaby lover, was in rescue/adoption a long time, think he should be jailed for keeping poor furrbabies in kennels & not in the house! Those shots probably scared those poor furrbabies so bad. 🤬
Alex is totally acting today,,,,, He did this and he's going to get away with it,,,, Prosecutor has Nothing! 💔💔💔
Except for circumstantial evidence
Prosecutor has a double murder conviction... YOU are the one who has nothing.
If I Was On The Jury It Would Of Been A Hung One. And Because They Have Him On Trail For Murder But The State Called All Witnesses And Questions About His Financial Problems. So Was He On Trail For Murder Or Embezzlement... I'm Confused. Out Of This 24-26 Day Trail Only 1 Or 2 Of Those Days Was About The Murder. The Rest Was Souly About Financial Crimes And How Much Money He Stole, And Honestly I Don't See The Motive In That.
After the trial the jury said they found him guilty based on the kennel video, Alex's lack of credibility when he took the stand, the telemetry and on star. Nothing whatsoever to do with the financial crimes. Nice try, but in this case justice prevailed.
@@melvonmonkers3823 i Think You Misread That. What i Said Was When He Took The Stand They Asked About Nothing But His Financial Crimes Trying To Make That Motive. If You Watched The Whole Trail Which I See You Didn't, The Prosecutor Said More Times Than One That His Financial Crimes Was Catching Up To Him He Was Stealing From All His Friends & Partners And His Motive For Killing His Wife And Son Is So That All His Friends And Partners Would Forget About All The Money And Be At His Aid Feeling Sorry For Him Which In The Beginning Actually Worked Until He Became A Suspect.
I understand what you meant, now. However, South Carolina Court does not even have to prove motive. So, as the Jurors said, the kennel video convinced them. I personally think the financial crimes did show desperation and urgency to shift his situation in his favor. None of us can understand why someone murders. I appreciate your opinion.
He might have done it
Am I the only one who, if on a jury, would want them to get to the evidence? The narratives and story telling drives me nuts. Tell me the facts....
Seriously? Its day one. It's oral arguments, Opening Statements. That's the Procedure in a court of law. Nothing is cut and dried, or quickas you desire

Originally i was thinking Alex killed them but to be honest there is a part of me that thinks somebody else COULD have done this. Paul had a big target on his head after the boating incident. I could see somebody seeking revenge
Nope. That guy is a drug addict and his wife was going to divorce him.
Did he hire someone, provide the weapon and watched?
***He could have fired/checked the gun and, loaded it.
Yes, I see Paul having a target on his head….but that doesn’t explain Maggie’s death. Maggie was well known & liked in the community & no known enemies. I don’t think this has to do with the boating accident due to Maggie being killed & Alex being at the scene. I am very curious about Paul’s Snapchat that he sent to friends that is rumored to be the smoking gun!

Harpootlian and his team blocking the camera from seeing Alex at 55:38 is very intentional. It makes him look guilty as hell. Why try to hide the camera from seeing his face when he is not "on". Disgustingly guilty.
Ridiculous...Alex is seen many times on the camera. The attorneys were talking, nothing more.
There are several cameras in the courtroom. I doubt it was intentional
Can someone explain to me why he is not in handcuffs and wearing shackles, along with the usual orange prison clothes. This is the first person I ever seen convicted of murdering his wife and son. But is dressed like his lawyers. Yes I know he was a bigshot lawyer around that town. BUT WHY?? IT IS NOT PROTOCOL!! Suppose to make him LOOK innocent and professional? What a bunch of crap.
Easy to explain. Because there are TWO "America's" America #1 = Global Elites, Billionaires, Politicians, Corporate Heads, Lawyers, Tech Giants, etc. etc. America #2 = you and me. Alex is a member of: America #1 (he is above the laws that WE obey)....so, no shackles, no orange prison clothes necessary.
Are you not from the USA? He’s not been convicted, this is the trial, presumption of innocence. If found guilty he will THEN be in a jail uniform and in handcuffs but not until.
Defendant's standing trial are allowed to cha ge their clothes to regular clothes for trials...family or their lawyers usjally.provide them that....the Defendant's to you see at trial in their prison uniforms probably don't have the family support or decent lawyers that can provide them regular clothes
First of all he's a white man of means. Secondly he hasn't been found guilty of any crime. Third the only thing that the prosecution has to stand on is his financial records which makes no damn sense. Where's the insurance policies out on his wife and child?
Motive....there is none.
This man would have to be Superman ; giving the prosecutors time line.
Innocent until proven guilty
Why would he not kill his other son if he wanted to kill his family? He's innocent
So you have to kill your ENTIRE family in order to be a family murderer? Odd logic…?
Buster was out of Town at the time, hours away. Also, Alex was trying to make it look like it was due to the boat case, which involved specifically Paul
The defense is pretty weak..
No they're not. The prosecution doesn't have a leg to stand on their whole theory is Ludacris. The man is going to blow his family away you best believe he's going to be sitting right there waiting for the police to come get him or either he's going to shoot himself also.
This is an old Vendetta that someone pulled out all the stops to get this man.
The prosecution is downright disgraceful. No indication of domestic violence at all. He loved his son and his wife. Looks like somebody was waiting to take down his family for quite some time
