This is a training course we built from scratch with materials donated by our local Home Depot distribution warehouse. This course has an add on at the end (not included) pertaining to skip breathing, regulator failures, hose coupling direction, and RIC pack connections.
We put this together to show various obstacles that can be created with minimal space. It is intended to get comfortable and confident with your SCBA and gear. Enjoy.

I got to do my first confinement course at my school today cause they offer a fire program and man when I got to those wires and started getting caught definitely hard to keep composure for a second but I just took a deep breath and moved slow and figured what I was tangled on and how to get out of it. Absolutely amazing didn’t think I’d get to do that until fire academy

It's made with carriage bolts so it comes apart and can be rearranged in different configurations and or transported. I would say everything in the video can be setup in a single truck bay. Packed away obviously less space. Good to hear from you John.

Currently getting started at the local VFD. I am not going to lie, I kinda dread the obstacle course. It is going to be different that what we have here („here“ being Germany) but the principles are going to be similar. The guys who are already SCBA certified have told me that yes, it is tough but it is manageable. Just go slow, and remember that you are never alone. Here, it is always going to be a team of 2 going through the course. It is impossible to do alone because there are passages like a 10 ft long narrow tube that you have to crawl through. Unless one pushes or pulls the other, it’s not going to work. The course is also meant to teach you to trust your teammates.
I was also given to understand that this course simulates every conceivable extreme situation, one after the other.
And the rookies who do it for the first time will just tag along with an experienced team, while not wearing a SCBA. Later, they will carry a dummy tank and wear the mask. Only then will they get the „full immersion“ with an actual SCBA.

With zero visibility this would be quite a challenge the first time. The obstacles seem fairly complex and more like a building collapse perhaps? I notice the use of the palms instead of the back of the hand which is unusual. In Sydney Australia we never do that due to electrical hazards.
I believe BA training in zero visibility is the best way to prepare for our work. These environments I think can create anxiety and this training really helps.
