  • Dishwasher Won't Fill? - Top 5 reasons and EASY DIY instructions to get your Dishwasher back to working order.
    Reason #1 - Water Inlet Valve: If the water inlet valve is clogged or has dirty screens and filters, the dishwasher may not fill with water. However, there may also be larger issues at play. If you clean your inlet valve and it doesn’t solve the issue, make sure that you inspect it for other damage and test it for continuity.
    Hit that Subscribe button now and make sure the Notifications are ON.
    Reason #2 - Float: The float rises with the water levels and once the right level is reached, the float is supposed to trigger the water to shut off. Lift the float by hand and drop it a couple of times. This piece should move freely and if it doesn’t, you will want to check for foreign objects or damage that could be preventing it from operating properly
    Reason #3 - Float Switch: The float switch is the mechanical part that responds to the float and tells the machine to stop filling and can sometimes malfunction or become defective. Inspect this switch and ensure that it is engaging with the float properly.
    Reason #4 - Door switch: The door switch is a mechanism that ensures that the dishwasher isn’t going to operate if the door isn’t closed properly. If the switches are defective, the dishwasher will not fill up with water as it should.
    Reason #5 - Main Control Board: If you have tried the other fixes and nothing has resolved the issue that the dishwasher won’t fill, it may be that the electronic control board is going bad. The various components run the dishwasher and tell it when to cycle through the various processes, so if something is damaged, this is all interrupted, including the ability to fill.
    The 'Top 5 Reasons Your Dishwasher is Won't Fill' video covers all major brands of Dishwasher, including: Whirlpool, GE, LG, Maytag & More.

    This guy is great he explains how to test stuff and where to get parts from as for me at turned out it was the valve leading to the dishwasher it's a one-way in 2out I pulled it out I checked everything it wasn't until I put it back together then I realized it was the valve water wouldn't even turn onto the sink so I would suggest checking that first just like he said I obviously didn't listen to that

    I don't usually comment. I liked this video - he got me to think. Replaced a part in Gallery dishwasher and it would not fill with water. Turned out the reason was user error on my part but I would not have gotten there without the video. I blocked the float switch. Now it runs great. This video saved me hours of time - money and frustration. THX

    This was great. I assembled my tools, turned off the water supply, turned off the breaker, and was down on the floor taking off the floor plate. Turns out it was a cat food can lid stuck under the float. ;-). What did people do before youtube repair videos? Thank you!

    With mine, After talking to my youngest ( the Geek guy) I listened and thought I heard the click on valve, so I assumed it was trying.. He had me ensure water was getting to valve then As a "try", I shut water off and undid the water inlet feed then I used the bristle end of a battery terminal cleaner- gently scrubbing inside the valve.
    Son said Newer dishwashers have a check valve in the drain valve that sends a signal allowing the fill valve to engage. Mine does not have that feature but He did have me run 3 coffee jugs of vvery hot water and forcing the drain cycle each time. This he said would clean out any grease ect that could be impeding operation.
    Put it back together and Mine ran like new and had much better sound during drain cycle. I cleaned the screen filter while I had it off checking for debris in pump sump area also..
    I have run 4 cycles.:)))

    that's a really nice concise video. I tend to pick up broken dishwashers and try to repair them all the time. I find a lot of the whirlpool type of dishwashers made from about 2013 to 2018 have a control board failure where the dishwasher won't activate the fill valve. Maybe it's common to the ones I keep picking up.

    I have the Kitchenaid KDFE104HPS0 dishwasher that will not fill. I watched this video and purchased a new float switch. Still having the problem. Then I purchased a new water inlet valve. Still having the problem. Then I used my multi-tester and checked continuity on the original float switch and water inlet valve. They are both fine. I have since tested the latch for continuity and it was fine. On all continuity tests I followed what was described in this video. The float is fine since it is not electrical and I can see that it is not being obstructed by anything and that it is pressing on the lever that is pushing in the small swich on the float switch. According to this video the only thing left is the control board. Is replacing the control board going to solve my problem? I am not sure how to even do any type of test on the existing control board. The machine is 5.5 years old. It is worth fixing? If I purchase a new control board and this does not fix the problem can I return it for a full refund? Does anyone have any advice for me on this issue?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  Před 10 dny

      You can test for power coming from the control board to the water valve when it should be filling. If there is no power there then the control board will need to be replaced. If you have power from the board and it's not getting to the water valve then you have a wiring issue. You will want to locate the tech sheet on your unit so you can see where to test. If you have more questions you can call us at 1-877-477-7278 and we will be happy to troubleshoot further.

    • @markparrent8816
      @markparrent8816 Před 12 dny

      Sandi, you must go step by step, starting with the shutoff valve, and flex water line to see if there is any pluggage. With one end in a bucket, turn of the water to see if there is flow. If so, move on to next step.

    *** I changed the water inlet valve and still no water. Turns out my feed line was clogged with debris right before the water inlet valve. No idea how that debris got in there.

    • @markparrent8816
      @markparrent8816 Před 12 dny

      Glenn, the debris could have come from your angle stop (shut off) valve if it is the type with a rubber washers. The washer deteriorates, breaks apart, and plugs the line. A kit with a new washer and packing bushing gasket for about 6 or seven dollars with fix this. just pay attention as to how everything comes apart.

    • @appliancepartspros

      In order to know if the valve is bad you would want to test it to see if it has 120 volts coming to it.

      Was hoping to find an answer to this. I replaced the intake valve (but it didn’t test as bad before) and I tested the float switch and it had the correct continuity, but there is still no water coming in. Everything else runs and the machine properly waits to fill when I manually hold the switch (as in, no water comes in, but it will stay in “filling” until I let go)

    Changed out my water inlet valve and my plunger electronic device and it still doesn't fill up all the way. In fact u can manually hold down the button on the overflow plunger device and it still shuts off way too soon, then the dishwasher goes through it's entire 4 hour cycle with no water or no agitation or no spinning arms....just dry!
