Illegal Civilization - "Summer of '17" - Episode 2 (Short Film)

- čas přidán 27. 02. 2018
- The second episode of Illegal Civilization's Summer of '17 moves away from a story of romantic love and instead moves to the love and tension of friendship, keeping with the themes of turmoil and familiarity presented in episode one. This time the films opens with a search for a lost wallet, the morning after a party. But as the film progresses it is clear that the search has heavier implications than just searching for some lost cash.
Directed by by Illegal Civilization founder Mikey Alfred, the second episode of the series is aesthetically consistent with the first. Afternoon light and summer days in the suburbs underscore the film's changing changing tone and building tension, while still maintaining the feeling of a teenage fantasy land.

i love the fact that mikey decided to keep smartphones out of the flick. Like throughout the whole thing not one person was sitting there glued to there cell phone like how everybody usually is. He replaced the act of being on your phone with handgames and things that everybody used to do before phones were so dominant. He also showed how skater dudes who have just probably finished high school struggle to get money when they cant find a job. Aramis did a good job in this i cannot let that go unnoticed, he has great potential. All in all, this is pretty relatable to a lot of people and i cannot wait to see whats next to come.
Kyle Dringenberg just realized that, what you said about the hand games
what about on 7:46, meelah's on her phone
ok boomer
Aramis deserves an award for this performance
josh_skatess But he was spittin facts tho
Aramis boutta get an Oscar for that performance got dam

Jayraab The main character Tony

I feel like I’ve done nothing with my life these guys are what I want to do in life, they have a clothing brand, they produce videos and movies like this and they are cool with some of today’s up and coming artists and
Damian 5 I feel the same way though. I just don’t even know where to start
Damian 5 i’ve felt that way, i use to look at people like this and think wow they’re just lucky i’ll get my opportunity eventually like they did. the longer i waited for it without doing anything those same people become more and more successful. these dudes all worked mad hard and they’re only just getting started. mikey the spike jonze of this generation!!

what am i supposed to do with 40 funky ass dollars?
Keziah Baker Los Angeles niggas
When he farted and said "safety" I k ew this film was perfect for me. My homies and I used to play that, and we would just chill, skate, and hoop together. Those days were gold.
She charging her son 500$ in rent? I know they in Los Angeles but Jesus lmao

@@steev1290 waiting forever to see if aramis beats up his dad
coming out tomorrow
THIS WAS SOOOOO FIRE BRUH WTF
this is WAY better than the first episode, like WAY better. i was so happy they decided to use Tony and Paul instead of Jeff for the main protagonist in this one, we didn't get enough of them in the first film. And speaking of the fist film, i was so looking forward to it and when i finally got to watch it when it came out, i was confused and disappointed in the main story and the main protagonist Jeff. But this episode just sucked me in and i went in doubting it because my watching experience with the first episode. first episode: 5/10 second episode: 8-9/10 (now i'm looking forward to episode 3) :)
anyone else thought there wasn’t gonna be a second episode to this short film? Whoa I’m stoked. TUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I fucking love this film
How is no one commenting on Blake Anderson's cameo???
unicorn cop I know, I was shocked when I saw him
“Congrats.”
Yea...i was like bllllllllaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkeeee
No ones’ gonna mention Sunny (Sunburn) from Mid90s?
The Hive Productions you stupid he’s in illegal civ dumbass
IC stuff are my favorite things to watch
i was dieing when he lost 100 $
the soundtrack, the way these are shot, and the general realism of the whole series is brilliant. I'd happily watch a few seasons of these dude on their shenanigans haha!
This was actually so emotional. Beautiful.
it’s so great to see like the parallel to mid90s with the would you rather and instead of making it the mom and dad scenario, it’s more pg in this. well done mikey !
The dynamic between these two guys was really good, nice job
“ I have a question for you .... what did you do today ? “ idk why that was funny to me
yo all of you guys are talented beyond skating keep this shit up. would love to see this on tv one day💯
dreaded devon maybe a netflix series
Whoa this episode was so good! So much deeper than the first, I wasn’t expecting that.
This was so good aramis had me emotional
illegal civilization RULES. I can't explain it word by word but there's something special in these series.
the ending was perfect i’m glad y’all posted this it’s relatable
Im 30 and this shit still hits hard. Thought all the turmoil of family would have leveled out by now, but it sure as hell doesn't. You depict the turbulence of that stepdad relationship with frightening accuracy, and I can attest to its effects. Having a true homie in those times can really be what makes all the difference.
Y’all did a Great job man can’t wait for an episode 3 Keep it up!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Very Nice! Nice work Mikey and THE WHOLE CREW! Amazing watching this work out so well
I keep re watching seeing the story unfold in ways I was confused to before love it
this is so fire we need more
The moment when things are tense as hell, then it's calm for a moment which switches to humor. Incredibile
Greatest thing about this still is Blake’s reaction to the free taco and the fact that they used him
Damn i hear BROCKHAMPTON and Cuco😧
BLEACH-BROCKHAMPTON(9:20-10:40)
Lo Que Siento-Cuco(11:51-whenever)
Nick Melo which scenes i didn't hear it ☹️

These kids are straight genius. I fully support the cause and brand. Very creative and real
I’ve literally never felt a more personal connection to a character than to Tony
The way the story goes on omg man
And the music used on the background its just amazing i fucking love this
there's a sense of a 60's feel to it but it has all this modern culture. it's beautiful.
