I’m this video I show how to swap engines from the old 5hp Briggs to the harbor freight predator 212. No other items needed aside from the engine and motor oil
Got one for free last year from a relative. Said it did not run. Started second try and tilled the entire garden. This year, not so much. Started second try, ran about 3 feet and started screeching. This is just the ticket! I can sacrifice reverse given the cost savings and no machining required.
If your transmission seemed to all sound then that definitely sounds like a good plan, as seen very simple and straightforward swap, I tilled for a couple hours the other day with this set up and no issues, tons more power and the lack of reverse didn’t bother me at all since it’s so light. I hope things go well for you!
@@malarkeywithmatt2396 Harbor Freight has a sale this weekend. Picked one up for $99.99. Such a deal! Just need to replace the belt as the old one is trashed. Spacing was quite a bit off on the pulley. Seems the pulley spacing is different between model years. I saw another guy who ended up using some extra machine bushings. My spacing was way too far off. I ended up swapping the pulley around backwards and it lines up perfectly.
@@AlanTrulock oh interesting, that’s good information to know there that some models are different like that, I noticed mine was different as mine was not a bolt on pulley unlike the other video I saw
Im working on my dads old tiller it's been sitting almost 10 years out now we're getting back into gardening and need it ,would it be worth rebuilding the original engine or swapping as you have?
What model is the engine? If it’s just been sitting around, I’d clean the carb, change the oil and try to see if it’ll fire off on the original engine first.
I have a carb and gas tank @ewetubesuxass can have , not sure how to connect.... The back round music made it hard for me to hear you, just my 2 cents... I'm going to HF now... TY
I have a 1981 Pony 2 tiller and my solid tires have very little tread left. The original wheels/tires are unavailable. It looks like yours have been replaced. I have looked everywhere for the recommended replacement with no luck. Do you happen to know what wheel/tire combination you are using? Thx.
I thought the bowl style carb engine would bounce around too much to run properly , thats why you see tillers with the jet style carbs

The screeching sound was probably the recoil. Common problem if it’s been sitting around.

Hey Do you still have the gas tank and carb you took off, if yes how much you want for them?
I do not, I gave the engine to a small engine shop
I have them.
