@Hyper Sane because they haven't met that many foreigners and when they see someone they can't stop but stare and some also ask for selfies because they probably want to show it to their friends or family as they met some foreigner today (as a human nature when you're not used to seeing a particular type of people it happens) . I am an Indian btw and though a lot of the people are not like that but still there are many . And honestly i hate it as a lot of foreigners may find it uncomfortable like here and even mistake the stare as unsafe or "bad" but just know that the stares are a result of curiosity and it doesn't happen when they are used to seeing "foreigners" and the selfies to just brag that i met a foreigner . I really feel sorry and would never do this (and a lot of Indians too ) as we know it's uncomfortable but some don't understand that they are making the other person uncomfortable .

Humans wants to preserve things in memory and clicking pictures is the easiest way. You take selfie with monuments/ Art/ Artists as well. Is it because of inferiority complex? Absolutely not!! In India if you want people to understand when they ask where you from. (Country name), You can say “ Aayerrrr Lyand “ With more stress on letter R. For Indians you sound like “ Hoyelon”. Again key is letter R. Same thing applies for any word that has R.
About the selfie thing - people who ask for selfies are tourist themselves coming from small towns and rural parts of the country who have never seen a white person in real life. So for them, it's like a big achievement. They'd go back to their village and show it to others. It's weird, but comes from the colonial hangover. You could just say sorry no photos and keep walking. It's not rude. This only happens at tourist hotspots so it's better to avoid such overcrowded areas and explore places where bagpackers go, not family crowd. Baga and Calangute are to be avoided at all cost 😅

If time permits visit beautiful temples of Goa namely 'Ramnathi temple', 'Mangeshi temple'. All these temples were devastated during Portuguese invasion but they are now reconstructed. If you want to taste Goan Cuisine i.e. fish visit 'Swagath Goan and Malvani Family Restaurant' in Ponda, Goa. Dishes are authentic, tasty and at reasonable price. Do visit Bambolim Beach if you want to enjoy nature with peace. It is less crowded and very beautiful. Goa is super small state, all the above mentioned places are very close by, you can visit these places in a day or two.

hahaha the selfie routine tired you out more than the walking. Actually there's two things that happen, one is when someone approaches you for a selfie and then the second is when there's a crowd and people see other people taking selfies, especially foreigners, they think that you might be a celebrity (which you are ;), at least in no time you will be, at this rate of amazing, wholesome vlogs that you keep giving us). Also I just want to inform you regarding torn money, people are very picky about the slightest tear and will not accept them, you were kinda lucky with that one. Best thing to do is go to a bank, any bank and exchange those torn notes for new ones. And if you're given torn notes, you shouldn't accept them either. That's how it goes here. Always fun to watch your videos :)

Regarding selfies, just say no if you don't want to take selfies. If people still request then again say no. They will simply walk away. And regarding the torn note, people in India try their best sneak torn notes between good ones. This is quite common with Indians as well. So we Indians check twice the notes we get and if any of it is torn, we return it back. Also since you guys are foreigners, the man who gave you that note found it easy to hand it over to you. The man at the parking was doing the right thing to not accept it. So next time when you guys take notes from anyone in India just double check them and if any of then is torn (even a tiny bit) or is scribbled too much with pen, then don't accept it. We are staying in Calangute Beach at the moment and had to learn to say no to selfies. In Aurangabad was crazy as we obliged to a whole school tour and a full class for selfies.. Us Irish always learn the hard way..😄😄

Also, Appam and chicken curry, Kerala Fish curry, Kerala Fish fry, Lamb/beef fry and poratta, Chicken roast and rice, masala dosa, fried squid rings, banana fritters/appam, also try the semyia payasam and kerala style halwa (black and orange type).
