  • Welcome to my latest adventure on the stunning Jurassic Coast of England. In this video, I'll take you on a paddleboarding trip from Lulworth Cove to the iconic Durdle Door. We'll also explore the breathtaking Stair Hole Caves on the way back.
    The sea is calm, the sun is shining and the weather is warm and dry, making it the perfect day for paddleboarding. However, despite the beautiful surroundings, I'm having a tough day emotionally as I'm still grieving the loss of my son, Little Dom, who passed away 20 months ago. I hope that this video can serve as a reminder that even on tough days, it's possible to find moments of joy and peace in nature.
    Throughout the video, I'll also be sharing tips on how to stay safe while paddleboarding. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner, it's important to take safety seriously when out on the water. I'll cover everything from checking weather conditions to wearing a life jacket and avoiding dangerous areas.
    So come along with me on this paddleboarding adventure, as we explore the natural beauty of the Jurassic Coast and take a moment to reflect on the importance of safety and self-care. Don't forget to hit the subscribe button to stay up to date with all of my adventures and outdoor tips.
    About Durdle Door:
    Durdle Door is a natural limestone arch located on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, England. The formation of Durdle Door began around 140 million years ago during the Late Jurassic period. At that time, the area was covered by a shallow tropical sea, and over millions of years, sedimentary rocks including limestone and chalk were deposited on the seabed.
    Around 10 million years ago, tectonic movements caused the land to rise, and the sea began to erode the rocks, creating a series of bays and headlands. The softer rocks, such as clay and sand, eroded more quickly, leaving behind the harder, more resistant limestone to form the distinctive arch of Durdle Door.
    The arch was also shaped by the processes of hydraulic action, where the force of waves erode the rock face, and abrasion, where stones and pebbles carried by waves grind away at the rock. The arch continues to be eroded by the sea and weather, which means that it may eventually collapse in the future.
    Today, Durdle Door is a popular tourist destination, attracting thousands of visitors every year who come to marvel at its unique beauty and learn about its fascinating geological history.

    Hey dude! A good but chilled water is that of Salcombe. Usually calm and many beaches to discover in the estuary! Then it's just a beautiful when you get onto the sea.
    Another is abersoch. Anywhere around the twon of abersoch is explorers heaven. Brill content. Love it.

      @@TheOptimisticAdventurer Finally did my first Lulworth to Durdle door as a solo trip early morning on my 50th birthday in August. Little too rough to go into stair hole that day but managed it on the same trip in early march with a nice group of 8 other paddlers.

    Thank you for sharing. What a great video with helpful advice. As this is one of my to-do plans for this year it is perfectly timed :)
    How long does it take to paddle between Lulworth cove and Durdle Door?

    • @TheOptimisticAdventurer
      @TheOptimisticAdventurer  Před rokem

      Took just under an hour each way, but I was stopping to fly the drone and land it back on the paddleboard (stressful). So 2.5 hours there and back with the cave explore. i was worried by some kayakers who said they’d heard the swell was building so i rushed it.
