Every time there is a female conductor, I take it as a sign that the world is going forward.

Why such a sexist commentary? For me, every time there is a good conductor, I take it as a sign that the world is going forward.

What matters is the sound the conductor produces. Everything else is second - being nice to work with, for example. Gender is way at the bottom. It really doesn’t matter to me. Man or woman, as long as they’re competent, I wish them all the success in the world!

@tobiaspeter6555 not true.. because music, for a long time, is a very sexist world, so this commentary has a sense...for this reason...

Noa is of course as usual astonishing good! If it is right she is only 19, then we have someone that will dominate the classical scene many ears ahead. Best luck in the future, Noa!

Nice auditon with orchestra for the post of concertmeister. I know at least 30+ capable for the post, many of whom already are leader of top orchestras. And superb soloists.

It's interesting; whenever I watch a conductor, I find myself thinking: "How would I feel were I playing for him/her?". If I'm honest, I ask it even more frequently when I'm observing a female conductor - this is perhaps an indication of my age! There are some really good women directing orchestras these days. This is the FIRST time I have watched one and been absolutely sure that there would be no doubt where you were in the bar or what she wanted. She is as clear as a bell. If her rehearsal technique is at least as good as her stick technique, I predict that she will become a leading figure as time marches on. The only criticism I have is ... those shoes!

@@romanreshetkin There's a lot of truth in that. However, it depends what you mean by "look like nothing". Perhaps you could give an example. In my view, those who really don't look good are often riding on the backs of excellent professional orchestras.

By far the best conductor I ever played for was a woman, and that was over 25 years ago. (Sadly, she died young, at around age 50.) Never had any confusion about her beat, and she could draw incredible power and expression from the orchestra, which sounded a lot better than that level of orchestra normally would. Incredible attention to detail and efficient rehearsing too.

@@matthewv789 I've only ever been conducted by one woman, an amateur who did wonderful things with an amateur string orchestra in Hereford, UK. But there are more and more impressive women taking up the baton these days ... and more power to them!

Die Solistin sieht aus als wäre sie am Strand. Aber abgesehen von ihrem freizügigen Outfit gefällt mir ihr Spiel sehr gut.
