  • Worldwide, around 16 million girls between the ages of 15-19 give birth each year. Many are forced to drop out of school after becoming pregnant. The Advancing Youth Project (AYP) in Liberia gives out-of-school youth, mostly young mothers, another opportunity to build a better life. Pregnancy is just one of the barriers young girls face when trying to get an education.

Well this is great, and I'm proud of USAID for trying to do what they do. The one problem is that our own country has high illiteracy with our own people. Sure, they may be able to read, but can they comprehend? I know plenty of people who have graduated high school but can still not read the "big words". Let's use our own tax payer money for our own people before supporting the welfare programs of other countries!

Ryan Quade Ryan- our Aid programs to countries like Liberia make up about .01% of our budget. Do you really think that money would fix the education problems we face here at home?

Adam Parr yes. For ASAID in 2013, there was 33 billion helping out other countries. 33 billion could go a long way in many rural and inner-city schools.
