I would really love to hear how Bart’s mom grew up (childhood, the place she lived, parents, siblings if any, best memories, hard experiences growing up as a child and as a adult, how certain events shaped who she and how it affected her raising Bart’s)

I would totally read and buy 100% Bart Kwan's book, "A Bowl of Cucumbers". I hope you continue telling these stories. I totally relate to all those stories about getting beat and studying. Instead of finding a stranger beat me, my mom had her brothers and sisters beat me when I did things incorrectly. Once when I was elementary school age and was learning math over the summer, I didn't understand how to do a problem and my aunt yelled/slapped me multiple times in the face because of "how stupid" I was, that I got a bloody nose. And even when she saw I had a bloody nose, she dragged me in the bathroom yelling at me that I was so stupid that I made her make me have a bloody nose.

IRIQUOIS right here. One stereotype of native americans is that we all lived in teepees. My tribe did not. We lived in big longhouses. We also have clans and still recognized them today. Im wolf clan, so my whole family would live in one big longhouse. Wolf clan, bear clan, turtle, deer, eel and snipe clan. Thats how we knew who was our cousin and wouldnt end up marrying them. I still have to ask if another native american is my cousin before i developed a crush lol we have huge familys. I have about 70 cousins i know about. I still meet new cousins

Yo, this episode was a bit on the dark side but I can't say I didn't like it. A lot of ppl can relate to you, Bart...my dad also came from an intense background, leaving the Philippines during Marcos then trying to eke out a living in Ronald Reagan's America. He raised us hard to the point that I said fvck you and joined the army as soon as I could... now that I'm 33 I look back on the lessons that he tried to impart from the end of belt/ fist/ slap and I can confidently say that the wisdom was valid.. just not the delivery system. Anyway, write the book buddy.

18:30 A lot of Korean vocabulary that correlates to Chinese is said to be influenced from the Tang Dynasty when the dominant language was Minnan or what is now known as Hokkien. Compare the two side by side and there will be a handful of terms that sound similar in pronounciation. Other variants of modern day Minnan are Taiwanese, Teochew, Hainan, etc.
