Always start as small as you can lure wise for perch mate then size up when you get into a shole for a bigger fish iv been fishing a super small fox micro lures and iv been smashing 20 to 30 perch per session and the odd pike and zander
Bouncing the gel, ticles and bites bringing in the small Perch, knowing that only patience and determination will later bring in the Daddy of them all. And, as you say, 'It is as it is', and as in the film, Field of Dreams, he called and they did come...! If you put love, tenderness & care on the hook as bait, leaving any ego at home, they will bite...!
