I do love the characters that you come across, as I think they make life more entertaining. 205 man seems to be on the neurodiverse spectrum and probably has a harder time dealing with situations that you or I would take in our stride. A good Xantia is a bit of a unicorn nowadays.

@@carukchannelTry coming and working in the public transport industry……some of the “characters” we encounter there make the likes of man on a bike, suitcase woman and 205 man look positively “normal”! I have lost count of the number of times I have encountered both odd members of the public and colleagues in over 30 yrs……have to say though that having relocated to the Manchester area a few years ago from Hampshire, that you certainly have an impressive number of characters per square mile here in the north west! I reckon it’s why so many of the greatest comic acts come from around these parts….. so much good material to work with 😂😂

Regarding the polo, saw bangers and cash restorers episode today where they had the exact same problem with an Audi 100 avant. They had to sell it on at a hugely reduced cost due to the unfixable issue.
Aygo/ C1/ 107 brilliant cars for cheap ,fun motoring, can't go far wrong especially a very clean, tidy example 🎉

I was right about your auction RRover not using lots of fuel, because when it's on bricks with the wheels off it won't breakdown of it definitely use any fuel.

As a former Volunteer in a former Wildlife Rescue Centre on the lesser haired fringes of the south London Area, 10+ years ago, Badgers 🦡 🦡 were admitted after being RESCUED from ( DANGEROUS to them ) Injury Causing / Life Threatening Situations, & NOT being unusual for a Rescued Badger to go through a period of Hair Loss, whilst in captivity / recovering from injury/injuries ( Stress CAUSED by the Injury/Injuries . . . ? / Stress through unusually being in captivity . . . ? ) but usually the hair loss was only temporary & the hair would grow back after a period of time . . . young Badger Cubs in the Rescue Centres care, were known for going through / recovering from hair loss !
205 man would make a good. Pal for the gateman at the auction they could freak each other out.

Man times have changed. £2,500 for a 13 year old Fiat Punto. Not that long ago would have been about £300 quid at my local auction.
It’s proper daft,BUT the valuations on late letter ANYTHING are eye watering.
The only bright spots I know of is unfortunately a negative for first owners who often lose tens of thousands in a couple of years, yet they’re still pricey.
The other is modern classics, which i have a hunch are going to do well over the next five years.
Grab a 20 year old decent make and model, low tech, buy on condition, history and mileage last. I think it’ll pay you to drive it next few years so long as you’re not needing to slap 70,000 more miles on it.
I just bought a Porsche 996 for just that reason. I don’t need to make money on it, but I think it’s unlikely I’ll lose much!
And, in truth, I don’t even need a car. I just wanted one of these for the first & only time in my life.
Your right. If I had some spare space I'd be collecting some future classics. I'd like a Fiat Coupe. They should go up in value.

Mini’s are the way to go Lee - span all social classes, male/female and even 20 years old they still look smart especially in a good colour. You really should do more of them
I know nothing but I’m pretty sure I heard Lee say that reliability turns on what kind of engine it has.
I like Mini myself. Not owned one but I’ve had several as hire cars & really liked the way they’ve driven.
Gotta love 205 man ❤ My run around is a 1993 £200 1.9 turbo diesel Xantia. Check it out L202 LBA. I've owned it since the mega fail over 12 years ago. I bought it off a trader who didn't know how to sort the suspension. Cost me a tack weld. In fact the original plate was L155 AKM and there's a place down south called Liss and it's also Lissa, so i sold the plate and got £400 !!! This car owes me absolutely nothing and it's been to Scotland and Land's End in my ownership. The only reason i can think as to why Citroen stopped selling them is because they were just too bloody good. In fact they didn't stop production in 2001, the Iranians made them until 2010, so send 205 man to Iran because i'll never sell mine or my spare one. 😂

Whats up with that Zafira ? I remember when you got it and thought it had been sold. Ive always had a soft spot for the 1.6 petrol as its a good handy workhorse
After 2014 the mini became reliable I have a 2016 5dr hatch cooper D f56 white silver is reliable it’s the ones with prince engine that are not as reliable

Simular to you, I ran a small car Auction in the nineties and remember a character we named trousers !
We would see trousers in all sorts of odd locations with his trouser bottoms half way up to his knees!
….and I have a mini with that poxy psa engine in the corner that I’m scared to sell as I know it’ll just bounce back!
Tell me about it, we have one going out this weekend, dreading it tbh. We have had to put a timing chain on it also which we did not budget. 🙈

get bike man a xantia if u can find one lmao!! i had one 3 months old it drove lovely at first but electricly it was bloody awful everything stopped working sunroof windows central locking!! Had its cousin after Laguna electricly fine but didnt have that wonderful suspension ! the citroen had!

Enjoy the channel so when/if I sell-on my 2018 Skoda Karoq for a cheaper automatic now I'm retired I may give your site a viewing. Unusual to find a specialist in cheap cars under £5k that cares about its customers. I'd probably go for a 5 door auto Focus or Fiesta I can pay cash for instead of a monthly PCP as I've done for all my other cars. Keep up the videos !

I read only recently that road tax is eye watering for 2006+ cars. Earlier than that and tax can be surprisingly low.
Depends on the emissions these days, some 10 year old cars can be under £35 road tax still

We had a character turn up at 1755 on a Friday 3 weeks in a row wasting time. Turned up for the 4th Friday and the salesman on duty sneaked out the door and locked him in the showroom. He had to be rescued by the pump attendant.😀

I would suspect ECU fault on the polo to be honest, have had a few go that way on VWs.. exactly as you said, so time consuming trying to narrow it down, its not worth the time spent on it. Onto the next one!
agree, we sold the last low mileage one 16k miles before xmas, this is another low mileage one with 21k but also in need of the same treatment

painted, we do sometimes send wheels of to powder coat but these were for the wife. They will be marked within 2 weeks so thought I would save a little money 😁👍

I've sold a few Xantias in my time. Each and every one of them was a pain in the arse, #bloody French rubbish, and none of them ever earned me any profit. Apart from one. Did really well out of it actually. I was literally £20 up. I still have nightmares about mineral oil and suspension cones.

@@carukchannel We have a bus driver colleague who has an automatic licence. Even though it was a requirement to hold a full manual licence. It soon became a problem when he was asked to take a non automatic car back to the depot. Since that is what we rely on to keep the buses in service.

Why are small autos so popular. Can see the point in large luxury cars - but superminis, more thirsty, not as much fun to drive as a manual, and probably not the best auto boxes out there?

Is it that the Gen Z will only take the test in an auto because it's easier? Seems short sighted if it means they have to pay over the odds to get an auto when they're buying.
In my time it was mostly older people with bad knees/back/sciatica/hip replacements from my experience. Also you'd get the occasional younger person on a budget who would happily pay a bit over the odds because they knew the previous owner was probably an old lady.
