    I used to set my brakes at about 5 and coast around the turns. My new racing style now dictates having the brakes set at 9 or 10, charge deep into the turns, then hard on the binders. This lessens the likelihood of getting rear-ended by the hacks behind me.

    Thank you for posting this. I bought a Carrera Evolution and started buying all of these accessories (position tower, etc...) only to learn they are for the digital version. As I priced the digital control unit, controllers and a few other necessities I concluded it would be cheaper to buy a digital set for around $375 or so after Christmas. The combined track alone makes it worth it. Thanks for posting this video.

      @@outreachvideo The track piece I was talking about is the lane power extension track. This is the track that plugs into the main power track to go from 2 lanes to 4 lanes (And 6 to 8 if you buy 2 more). Originally they only offered the analog piece, but not a digital one. Well...the analog lane extension piece does not plug into the digital, but I didn't know that and bought one anyway.

    completely new to slot cars - bought a brand new Carrera 132 digital set for my son this Christmas, we have four cars and four wireless controllers. Any time we start racing we have an issue where the control unit seems to go into a frenzy - all lights flashing, cars come to a stop - very frustrating. I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting everything, I’ve tried with only a couple of cars, all cars, etc - all possible combinations - but it still keeps happening.
    As you can imagine not great when you have a 12yo kid that was extremely excited to begin with!
    Main unit is definitely pointing the right direction, same with lane changing track parts.
    When this happens the lights in the control unit seem to all go off, cycling through all lights for about 5 seconds, then lights in cars go back on and it lets you race again. Extremely annoying because it then seems to happen every few seconds. Hopefully something “easy” to sort?? All help much appreciated…

      With our track, it would do that if something crossed the track poles...what I mean is that if the left and right hand pickups made contact. So like putting a nail across the tracks. Another thing that can do it is something wrong with the motor of the cars.
      All I can really offer beyond this is to contact Carrera. They might know of something i don't.

    Great video, really helped as just got a Carrera digital set. Thanks for the information, much clearer than the book! One question I have is concerning running my old analogue cars on the Carrera digital track.....the book says not to connect the analogue power track into the digital system at the same time. I was going to do this and only power up either the analogue power base or the digital (not both together). Carrera seem to strongly advise not to do this. I have seen other racers running analogue cars on the digital track(obviously you can’t use lane chargers etc), but I don’t know how this is done. Do you have any ideas, tips or tricks please. My analogue cars are slot it, NSR, Carrera etc. many thanks. Stephen😎👍🇦🇺

      @madcapromanian it's the same 2 pin you use when you use a shaver or electric toothbrush. The adapter for these doesn't fit the carrera set 2 pin socket & does it need to be the same voltage as the transmitter? I think it does .

      @monsterhobbiesonlinestore  Před rokem

      That would be annoying.

    • @monsterhobbiesonlinestore
      @monsterhobbiesonlinestore  Před rokem

      Ok...let's see if we can solve this together....
      1.) Does England and Germany use the same voltage? (Canada and USA are 120 volts...I think Europe is all 220 volts from the plug outlet in the wall)
      2.) Sometimes hardware stores or stores that deal with travel supplies have those adapters for when you need to travel to Germany, for instance. If the voltage is the same, this should be a simple plug in solution.
      3.) Usually a 2 prong plug means that you have a positive voltage wire on one prong and a negative voltage on the other. In the 3 prong setup, you have positive and negative and the third prong is a ground wire. I have had an extension chord in the past that was 2 plug, but I could plug in a 3 prong plug because the third prong went outside of the two plugs, if you know what I mean.
      4.) The transformer (Big box at the middle of the wire) will convert the voltage (120-220 at the wall) into 18 volts for the track and cars. You just need to get power into that transformer from the wall.
      5.) I'm not sure if I should recommend this or not....cut the German plug off and replace it with a UK one that fits into your wall socket from a hardware store. In our hardware stores, they sell a plug that you can unscrew and inside are all the contact points for the wires. You just screw the new wires into the plug contact points (Positive wire to positive blade, negative to negative, etc) and then screw the plug housing back together and you're all set.
      I hate to recommend that, because you REALLY have to know which blade is positive and which is negative before you get into that job, otherwise you could damage the transformer if the electricity from the wall goes through it in reverse.
      Also, the grounding wire would be routed to the negative blade if you have to go to a 2 prong from 3...but research that first...don't quote me in case i am wrong, not being an electrician.
      Also, make sure you are the same voltage because 220 v going through 120 v transformer will overload it. - Good luck!

    • @monsterhobbiesonlinestore
      @monsterhobbiesonlinestore  Před 5 lety +3

      Glad you liked the video!
      It really depends on where you want to start. If you have a small budget to work with and/or not a lot of space or if you just want an "introduction" to decide if it is right for you, I would recommend starting with a simple analog set.
      If money is not an issue, then digital would be better as you have more control over the set up and speed of the cars. For example, you can program the digital cars to run at 1/2 speed to get comfortable with how they operate, or if you want to teach young children how to drive. they won't be able to run the car at full speed, potentially sending the car flying across the room, into a wall on the first corner. Once they learn how to speed up and slow down in corners, then you can put the cars at full power. You can't do that with analog.
      Also, consider the type of driving you want to do. If you like "One car, one lane" then go analog. If you want to pass other cars, run out of gas, hook up to bluetooth, and more...go digital.
      But either way you choose, Carrera 1/32 analog cars can be "chipped" to Digital, and digital cars can be "turned off" to run on analog. And all track is interchangeable...just not the switches and power tracks.
      Hope that helps you in your decision.

      To answer your questions on lane changes, it doesn't really matter where you place them, but i personally tend to make sure there is at least one left and one right hand switch to each lane. This is so that cars can pass one another and then come back to their original lanes.
      The "forced crosses" are there to prevent guys from running the outer lane all night long.
