    That little end clip of you grinding had me clenching. I was expecting a belt blade grab or a knuckle into the belt! XD Glad it didn't! Thanks for another good vid!

    Yes agreed. The work and skill that goes into making fixed blades from scratch is extremely commendable. Good man you for showing us the process.

    That infernum model is just straight porn.... the slim handle profile without all fingers grooves and other crap you see on knives.. the tapering. Distally and along the edge then that modified swept tanto... I’m fanboying this one hard... the red pins.. straight sexy.. absolute perfection of a design there Dom.... I’ll have a sanmai blade with your rat poison finish on the flats and satin on the bevel. Acid Green liners and pins with titanium dust carbon fibre scales... do it now!!! Lol

    So I can understand, the sole purpose of using the foil, is to prevent outside oxygen and such from affecting the heat treat process?

  • @dominickmaone
    @dominickmaone Před 4 lety

    @6:15Why hollow grind pre heat treat and then flat grind them to finish?

  • @charliebowen5071
    @charliebowen5071 Před 4 lety

    I know I’ve left shit loads of comments but could you do a little video about how you do the tip grind like on the rock pattern one? For us fellow knife makers.. that looks the shit and I need to know Dom...

    What’s the coating you use on the handle in 10:02 prior to ferric chloride etching??
    Nice palette of options there!

    • @armageddonknives
      @armageddonknives  Před 4 lety

      Just clear nail polish to protect the timber in etching

    I wanna hear your full opinion on D2. Here in England and I the states D2 knives are pretty much unsellable! It’s seen as a basic and poor steel choice considering all the s30,35 and modern steels.. I’ve followed you for years and have seen that you use all different steels but time and time again you seem to come back to D2... is it all in the heat treat? I’ve had some excellent edges from it but show someone a picture and they say sold then they ask what steel and I feel I almost have to follow the words D2 with a load of explanations about how good it is... what do you think about it all Dom? Any issues with customers over it?

    • @armageddonknives
      @armageddonknives  Před 4 lety

      Pretty much what tiago said. Its a good steel when treated right. I have used the fancier stainless steels but they're nowhere near as accessible as D2 is for me and they would add 10-25% to the price.
