      ELEPHANTS in CHAINS, being POKED AND PRIED with METAL SPIKES. CHAINED, HURT with METAL SPIKES, and made to stand around in water TO MAKE TOURIST MONEY!
      UNCHAIN the elephants!
      LOSE THE SPIKES!
      THE IS ELEPHANT HELL. IMPRISONED HELL for any living being.

    Just for clarification as to why a few elephants are chained and not free as others is because they are bit more aggressive than the others and in order to stop the animal from loosing control they make sure certain parts of the body are chained to restrict the elephants movements. On my last trip to the orphanage saw this method probably save a life as one tourist ventured too close to take a picture of very young elephant calf as they crossed the road on to the river, almost immediately one of the larger male elephants quickly cut across thinking it was threat to the baby elephant and charged at the camera guy, the chains around the elephant stopped him from moving quickly and probably saved the guys life. Mahouts quickly got the situation under control but sometimes we need to understand that these are not domesticated animals and certain precautions are necessary to protect everyone. Other than such precautions Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a truly a magnificent place to visit, happy these orphaned elephants have a home of their own ❤️ Loved this video very much, the staff are doing a great job looking after these beautiful animals.

    Guys this is not abusing elephants.. If one elephant get out of control you cannot simply put him down he will attack each every elephant as well as the tourists.. and most likely in a situation like that other elephants can also run out of control but the only thing that will keep them slow is those chains.. dnt forget elephants are cute and nice to watch but in the same time they could be deadly and life threatening.. I Live in SL..... and has witnessed a lot of sad incidents..

    i really like this place, especially the bathing corner. if you want to see more elephants in Sri Lanka, you may want to go to Minneriya national park which is located on the road to Polonnaruwa.

      Yong De Tan Thank you! It's always special when I see elephants. It's a privilege. I'm going to Africa in a month and I'm sure we'll see some, but I hope I'm blessed to visit Sri Lanka again for all the wonderful things the country has to offer, including the elephants.

    • @NancyIoannidis
      @NancyIoannidis  Před 2 lety

      I believe the chains are for the safety of the public, so unless there are no visitors, I guess not. Better chains than drugs in my opinion. The best is for all animals to be free of course!

      Those are matured animals it's hard to handle them in groups, they don't chain the little ones. or
      Probably they are about to start it's musth period which it gets really aggressive due to hormone reaction.

      Would u take responsibility when they start killing people ? Elephants kill nearly 80 people in Sri Lanka every year.
      In the old days Europeans thought elephants had no bones. People in western countries still don't know anything at all about elephants.

    Give the elephant that hook stick...it’s no funny when the rabbit (elephant), got the gun (chain, pole, etc..)!!!
    They are too thin! The bones in their hands should not be showing like that!! Especially given that most of them are not old elephants...😰😰😡😡😭😭😭

    What kind of conservancy is this? It abuses and exploits the elephants. Stop riding elephants, stop beating elephants. You are full of pretense.

    • @NancyIoannidis
      @NancyIoannidis  Před 6 lety

      Mary Edel Guzman The elephants that are used for riding need the income to survive. They can not be released to the wild. There is a law now against new elephants being used for riding, which is great.
