A bit more of a longer relaxed one!
lot of love to all the musicians in this 🫶 and wish them the best on their movie careers.
You know my favourite thing about this video is that it feels like a video
😅Thank you!
I hated hearing the song Shallow on the radio all the time. I finally saw A Star Is Born on TV and I was blown away by Lady Gaga's acting skills.
Eminem "coming out" is such a great scene in The Interview. Not taking yourself too seriously and making yourself the butt of a joke is such a good ability to have.
Definitely! I think the fact that Lady Gaga already had so many different characters in her music videos helped her transition into acting similar to Eminem! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the topic 😊
"Hailey Steinfeld has such a great catalog. I can't pick an outright favourite but I really like her character in Hawkeye. Great onscreen chemistry with Florence Pugh too.
Definitely! She’s been in so many incredible projects as well as Florence Pugh ! Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🫶
I always learn new things when watching your videos. Keep up the good work. And I hope your 20th is special.
I’m go glad you enjoyed thank you so much for your comment! I really appreciate it!
Out of the singer-actors you mentioned on the wall, Harry Styles in Dunkirk was the most believable, but overall the most impressive were the Haim sisters in Licorice Pizza.
Don't worry, it's pronounced _'Argylle'_ . So, now you know, you're welcome
Thank you so much ! ☺️
Great video keep up the work
Thank you so much!!
Bad accent aside, I thought Lady Gaga was so magnetic in House of Gucci. Can’t wait to see her in the new Joker. I didn’t see the first one.
Definitely! Really interesting to see what the joker will bring 😊
Great video and great editing.
Ah! Thank you so much 😊
Wow thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed ☺️
Bob Dylan has acted very sporadically since his small role in the Western “Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid”, and Levon Helm from Dylan’s sometime backing band The Band acted in various films starting with “Coal Miners Daughter”. Also singer-songwriter Kris Kristopherson and Roger Daltrey from The Who have had extensive acting careers. And Aaliyah was starting branching out into acting just before her tragic death. Plus John Lennon was in one film “How I Won The War “.
Did Hailee start out as a singer or an actress? I thought she was in True Grit first. Plus she generally seems more loved by the film community than the music community.
Loving the red string and photo background in this one! It’s only missing the cork-board to *tie* it together! 😆 Another common Abbie W lol ✨
Ah! Thank you so much😆 I’m so glad you enjoyed!
@@AbbieReeyeee! yw yw. It’s very good!
@@Clark_O_Tron ty 🥺
I feel that when it becomes to a musician, you tend to see the musician and not the actor in the big screen!
Interesting topic and great work on this . The first singers whom acted I can remember from the top of my head are Bon Jovi , Eminem and Lady Gaga the rest I couldn't care to be honest .
Wow that means a lot thank you so much I’m glad you enjoyed! ☺️
Another good video
Wow thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed 😊
Eminem, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears are my favorite performances ever!!! On the other hand Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa does not convince me at all hehehe
They have played some iconic! Roles, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the topic I really appreciate it!
Taylor Swift was also in the Lorax, for some reason they didn't get her to sing even tho it was a musical.
I did see the video of her doing the voice acting but like you said they definitely missed out on the opportunity of letting her sing!
I feel like you could fill your whole wall if you covered all the rappers who have become actors, just to name a few Will Smith, Ice T, Ice Cube, Queen Latifah, Common, T I, Ludacris, People forget Aquafina was also a rapper, Sticky Fingers, Eve, Cardi B, it’s like a rule that if your release two albums in rap you start acting 🤷♂️
So true! There were so many rappers > actors that i would have been here for hours! Thank you for pointing that out 😊
Btw The Weeknd had a cameo in uncut gems too
adam sandler fights the weeknd haha
I feel like singer to actor is like a standard career path. You are already trained for the camera while shooting music video so getting into movies is like going from TikTok to long CZcams videos.
I didn't know Matt Damon was a hip hop artist so among the one's listed in the video he would be my second favorite after JLo.
I think you’ve explained this perfectly, Great comparison! Matt Damon you mean leonardo dicaprio? Thank you for taking your time to share your thoughts on this topic I really appreciate it ☺️
It was my setup for a "they all look the same!" and tie it in with the topic of Hollywood beauty standards from your previous video because while there many singers turned actors, their numbers is only a tiny fraction of the number of playback singers not considered conventionally attractive who will never get the opportunity to be onscreen.
David Bowie in The Man Who Fell To Earth is great and Ozzy Osbourne in Trick or Treat was short but really funny.
Oh ! Will have to check those ones out, thank you for sharing your thoughts I really appreciate it ☺️
Jared Leto is probably my favorite singer who acts. He's even said that he does acting to fund 30 Seconds to Mars
Will Smith is a very close second, though. Phenomenal actor but Leto is just better in every conceivable way
Interesting points! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the topic ☺️
This is your best video yet, keep up the great work! I think the best performance by an artist turned actor would be Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker in The Social Network. I think the combination of charisma and sliminess feels so distinctly him (no offense to Justin) and I honestly couldn't imagine anyone else in the role.
Wow thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed! Oh great point he did play the role perfectly like you said, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the topic!
& then there's tom waits, a much better musician than anyone on the wall, who has been in soo many better movies than what is listed. "Down by law", "rumble fish", "iron weed" etc... tom waits is proof that musicians can progress into acting rightfully
Oh definitely one I should check out! Thank you for your comment!
@@AbbieRee you're welcome in advance
No rabbit :/
But on topic i think the more performative (big show and persona) a musician is the more likely they can make the move. Wahlberg was mostly known for being a muscle man. Lady Gaga is known for big spectacles like David Bowie was. I think that's why it's harder for the ones that are more music oriented to make the jump or make it permanently like Eminem.
Don’t worry he’s still living his best life will make a cameo in my next one!
I think you’ve put it perfectly! I agree that musicians who have created characters through their music find it easier to adapt into a movie role like Lady gaga, Eminem extra.
Thank you for pointing this out and for sharing your thoughts on the topic I really appreciate it ☺️
I've adored Hailee Steinfeld's voice work in Arcane and the Spiderverse movies. But I'm really excited to see Lady Gaga's take on Harley Quinn. Cant wait to see how they incorporate music. Folie à Deux is looking to be pretty experimental.
Definitely! Hailee Steinfeld has been apart of some incredible projects. I’m am really interested to see how lady gaga plays Harley Quinn looking forward to see how it turns out, thank you so much for your comment I really appreciate it ☺️
What camera are you using? It looks really good
Thank you so much! I just use my iPhone XR camera and Photo Booth on my laptop nothing very fancy! Hope this helps ☀️
Just logged a lot of movies in letterboxd cause you summarized them 🌚 (Which is great cause I never intended to watch them)
Ah 😆 always happy to help…
The Music Artist becoming an Actor is as old as Hollywood. Consider the first talking picture The Jazz Singer with Al Jolson in 1927. Then in the 30s radio star Bing Crosby comes to mind which leads to the 40s crooners Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin then to 50s Rock & Roll Elvis. By the 60s, the Beatles have a try at movies and so it goes...
But I figure you know this. The question is what is different with the current generation of musical artists turned actors compared to their predecessors?
A great point to make! It definitely has been done several times in the past with some performances being better received than others.
I’m not quite sure, I think it’s always been somewhat the same where a musician may want to try their hand at something else. With social media it is a lot easier for people to start a conversation around a movie/performance which can bring a lot more focus onto an individual and with trend culture if one person says something is bad and gets lots of attention others will hop onto the trend. Where back in the day it would mainly be articles and potentially interviews about a performance. I’m not sure if that really answered your question it’s a lot of speculation really! What’s your thoughts
Thank you so much for you’re comment I really appreciate it ☺️
@@AbbieRee - Thanks for getting back. I like your inquisitiveness. Many performers back in the day came from the theater tradition whether Vaudeville, Burlesque, Follies or Broadway. Often they had to be proficient in singing, dancing, stand up comedy, etc. to keep up. A situation that carried over to Radio and then Television in the form of the Variety Show.
Of your list, the only one whom I sense truly understands this tradition is Lady Gaga. Not only did A Star Is Born play into her strengths but she joined the ranks of musical artists turned actors - Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand in playing the lead.
Look forward to your future efforts.
courtney love also had an acting career
Interesting one! I will have to see what she’s been in
rihanna in battleship was so good that for a long time i believed that that actress just looked like rihhanna, i was surprised when i found out it was rihanna,
eminem and lady gaga would be the best performance for me, i think acting in something familar to them helped them.
i'd like to know what you think about maya hawke, the actually talented nepo baby, she can act and sing too
I know! I honestly thought she did incredible, I definitely agree I think Eminem and lady gaga had the most successful breaks into the industry and like you said them acting in something similar to what they do already probably helps.
Oh I think she is a great actress! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts I really appreciate it ☺️
As a game of thrones youtuber I have to comment in regards to Edd Sheeran, it was a terrible idea.
Now Game of thrones has had guest stars before, Chris Stapleton, Sigur Rós, Mastodon, Will Champion, and tons of other people we are not in the music area.
But what made them work was there was less.... how should I put this. Fan fare about it? Yet even as someone who had never heard of Ed Sheeran when his scene came up I just knew. "Ah, this mf is famous."
Everyone else passed me by without a seconds thought and it does not help that it is a scene that overall is quite useless to the show. I mean come on, you guys are already cutting episodes out but you also will have this stuff forced in there?
To be clear the hate Ed got was completely unjustified though.
wow interesting point I haven't really thought of that before! thank you for sharing your thoughts on the topic! :)
Well, there are a few artists who did a terrific job as an actor and actress.
Someone who proved to be a good actress and a good singer is Cher. It makes sense since she won an Oscar for her role in Moonstruck (good movie by the way) and got a nomination for Silkwood.
Lady Gaga is also another good example. While I haven't seen A Star Is Born, I did see her in House of Gucci and she rocked the house.
Heck even Tupac Shakur was a great actor. He appeared in amazing movies like Juice and Gridlock'd.
I am even surprised that Nicki Minaj can act. I mean her role in Barbershop 3 was great. Then I realized that she went to acting school, just like Tupac did.
And there are those who are actors and actress just because. Ed Sheehan, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, The Weeknd, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Camilla Cabello, etc.
I understand that these artist wanted to be actors and actresses. But that's a different ballpark. While some like Harry and Taylor had some ok movie roles, most are just there due to their stardom or trying to move away from music.
Wow some very interesting points made! I definitely agree and think there have been so many great examples of musicians who have done excellent in their roles. For some I think it’s a lot easier for the audience to see past there fame and see what they are trying to portray on screen I do think for some celebrities this can be hard for instance Harry styles and Ed Sheeran not saying they are bad at acting but it can be harder for them to be taken seriously.
There has also been several rappers who have done incredible films like you said!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts it really means a lot to hear your opinion on the topic 😊
@@AbbieReethe movie mask with cher is great I cry every time I watch that plus I think sam Eliot was really hot when he was younger. You don't see to many man's man like that in movies now.
This will be the first dislike I will leave on your videos. Why? you may ask.
You reminded me about that Cinderella movie and that is unforgivable.
im sorry :( James Corden jump scare still haunts me
Damn the quality of films have tanked since the rise of the woke feminazi cult. It's a shame.
Dunkerque was brilliant. (although the exaggerated Spitfire glide was a bit much) .
Im really late to this one. its just been so hot here and i been kinda busy. But im so happy to see another video and see your channel growing. I hope you dont forget me when you become a huge CZcams star. I hope you are staying cool. Best wishes always. One of your biggest fans - Luciana 🤍
Aw bless you! It’s definitely been really hot recently, stay cool too!
Thank you so much Luciana for the overwhelming support it really means a lot, I’m so glad you’re enjoying the content as I’m having so much fun making it ☺️
@@AbbieRee mask is the only movie I ever seen with cher but it was a great movie all around. I also just watched who's that girl with Madonna it was not the best thing I ever seen.
@@AbbieRee you're most welcome. You can always count on my support.
