I like the idea of getting into archery but it seems overwhelming with options. What is the M&P Sport 3 rifle of the compound bound bow world or the Glock 19 of the archery world?

excellent question... so my opinion, first step, find a local bowsmith... they can help you understand a lot and just like having a good gunsmith, important to have that contact anyway. so if you are talking about the basic option in compound bow, my recommendation would be PSE. but another reason to seek out a smith is the potential of picking up a used bow. my PSE here was new in 2011 if i recall and went for like $800 just for the bow. i picked it up used off craigslist in early 2012 for $125, with all kinds of extras, arrows, case, etc. since i used it for competition, it of course added all sorts of high end extras and custom work but still saved a ton of money by buying used. most modern compound bows have quite a bit of adjustment so they cn be set up for just about anyone. if you wanna start out old school and really work those fundamentals before jumping into a compound, you can pick up an OMP, Black Hunter, Samick or PSE recurve pretty cheap. they are a lot of fun and really help you dial in the form and mechanics that can really make a difference down the road with more advanced stuff.

Archery isn't my thing, but I am changing my mind about it. Might be useful to have at least a basic kit for just-in-case. Good post Brother CT

Very nice! Wonder if they sell strap downs separately, that would be nice to be able to add more. I agree, the arrow case is a nice touch.

i am not sure they would be needed, the two are about as secure as one can ask for. MTM are pretty solid people, so bet if someone reached out, they would likely send an extra pair. but you could also just grab some screw, washers and velcro and make your own too... probably.

I love PSE bows, but sadly because of my shoulders I can’t draw a bow anymore

i have issues with my shoulders too, thankfully though, achery is more a workout or therapy. the more often i get the bows out the less trouble with my shoulders i seem to have.
