    The way that man drives just staying in it as it goes in a squiggly line, and readjusts during shifts is actually just insane. It must be hard finding a seat and racing suit with enough room for his giant cajones.

    I remember seeing videos of this guy going high 8s and low 9s a long time ago. Most people don’t race the same car for 10-15+ years. It’s amazing what devin does. Shoutout to his wife for letting him keep his dream alive

    I've been following the red demon on dsmtuners since day 1, and this video brings me to tear up, you guy have no idea how hard they worked to make a 6 second pass happen! this car is my inspiration for my dsm build too.       God I miss those DSMs. They have become so rare nowadays. Even though I opted to build a boosted 240sx & Integra, I used to help my buddies build DSMs back in the earlier 2000's. They were the best bang for the buck and didn't take a boatload of cash to make fast, especially the lighter 2nd gens. This vid made me so nostalgic of that, the Red Demon and the Shep days. Awesome coverage.

    I'm just so glad we'll never have to hear the Honda guys say they did it first! They'd never let another DSM or Mitsubishi guy ever live that down after all these years of DSM's & Mitsubishi's clapping Hondas on the regular lmao. Thank god.

      @@cesar9572 Those are RWD converted and nowhere near stock chassis nor use an original H Pattern shifter. There's also Mitsubishi's that's been in the 6's for a while now too, even longer than Honda has. And we're still faster for the most part.
      Plus the only one in the 5's was an Ecotec car. And I think that was also still FWD.
      None of the SFWD cars Honda guys use has been in the 6's and what's funnier is despite being fewer of them, the B series is still showing itself to be faster than these K series cars are in the top 10 SFWD Hondas anyways since Speed factory set that 7.18 time recently right before Red Demon was the first 6.

      @@jordanprice9285 I agree. Also Hondas are a way more popular platform with people and aftermarket venders. For the 1 dsm or Mitsubishi out there trying to break records. There’s like 100 Hondas trying to beat the same record. Kiggly is one of the fastest fwd out there and barely gets any recognition in the import world. Literally the fastest fwd for yrs except for the ecotec which is a full tube car. Like you said Mitsubishi has been on top for decades in rwd/awd/fwd

    4g63 was and is still my favorite turbo 4-banger. Miss the hell out of my evo 8 and regret selling it to this today. Proud to see it taken to the highest echelons of drag racing and dominating.

      They are amazing motors. Mitsubishi really we’re miles ahead when they developed that engine. It’s not just drag racing it’s still spanking arse in, Evo’s are still spanking in actual track racing within Time Attack too. 13 years after the car was pulled from production. Nuts.

    As a Honda Purist tho I love all cars and love the progress of the awd Honda’s now getting close to 6s already, wanting bad for a Honda to catch the first 6s. I’m not mad at all, Red Demon deserves this for all of these years and effort put in.

    I love that no matter what platform Boostin Performance is developing new parts for & paying their bills with (doing it to the highest standard too), the Red Demon still is the Queen of their program & is cared for with the highest standard - even after all these years... ESPECIALLY after all these years.
    I love to see it & will never not be outward about my support & admiration for everyone at Boostin Performance, especially el jefe Devin.

    I remember when he first put the original car together MANY years ago and it got into either Hot Rod or Car Craft. At that time there most of the cars featured were big v8 muscle cars and the car being an AWD, 4 cylinder making 650 hp (750?) and running in the 8s (9s?)on a factory drivetrain was exceptional. It was the first time I really opened my mind to what real hot rodding is about.

    Last time I saw this car it was 2010, 2011 maybe. This is pre 7s and back when Boostin was in Hoffman Estates. I brought my fwd Plymouth Laser to Devin to go through it with a fine toothed comb. He ends up telling me that blue laser was his first dsm. Then I got the grand tour and red demon up close and personal. Glad to see red demon still going after all these years. Miss that blue laser too...

    Hell yea! I saw a 7.1 or 7.0? Something pass years ago at tx2k18? I think before that crash and rebuild. So awesome seeing Red Demon finally make that pass! Congrats to them 🔥🔥🔥
    Edit: nvm they showed the pass I saw in person, I missed it on my first watch. 7.047 at tx2k18 I remember everyone going nuts when it happened

    The impressive thing about this car is the AWD and its a stick shift cause the 4g63 power plant can do 6/7s but putting that down is hell of a job.
    Crazy to think that 1-2k HP is becoming more normal in the drag scene

Respect! edit: I also just love how is wife is like the #1 fan of the car! She's so happy for him because she knows how much they have put into that thing over many years.

    For perspective. Mullet has only ran 6s one time so far. With a twin turbo v8 and a pro mod transmission lol. Absolutely insane!!!!! Watched demon run at the shootout last year. So cool to see it in person.

I doubt there is a single bolt left of the original engine it is based on. Don't get me wrong... a 2000+hp 4 banger is insanely awsome. And the drivetrain it is powering is awsome too. Mad props to the Red Devil guys. But saying it is a 4g63 would imply you could buy a stock 4g63 and build it up to be this monster. While in actual fact, you would need to throw out the entire engine, replace everything and have everything custom made. So the "cheapest" way would be to have a billet block made, build it up with the right parts and throw it into a chassis. You could build this without ever being near to a original 4g63.... so is it still one? (Oh man, this comment grew way larger than I originally intented.... :D ) Still, Mad engine, Mad car, insanely skilled and talented people behind it!! awsome to see :)

      @@kenvanpassen9247 you crack me up my guy. The car was putting 1800hp on the iron block and ran 7.3. They switched to billet block after that. What do you think all the v8 guys use oem block? you think a 6 bolt ls block is stock oem cast or the 6 bolt head? lmao.

      It’s a billet block & he has spares. Not sure about the refresher between seasons but he’s very active all year long every year

      As I recall if you follow other interviews or his progress unless something breaks the motor will continue without being refreshed. It goes most of the year. The driveline is what normally breaks on it.

    Fuck yeah! Dude I became a DSM guy around 2001. That’s when I got my 1st gen TSI. In ‘04 I bought an Evo as my daily so I could have a DSM with A/C lol and the start gutting my 1st gen. And I’ve never looked back. I absolutely love them so much. I found these guys about 8 or 9 years ago and I’ve been watching that red 2nd gen crush every goal these guys have set for themselves.     I've watched this car from the beginning. I thought for sure that pass when it did 7.0 the first time was going to be a six. After I heard you crashed that I was devastated thinking that it was never going to happen.
    Watching you bring this car back and then not only bring it back, but get that six second pass after all, trapping 215 freaking mph. That is two thousand horsepower Honda FWD territory on trap speed. Warms my heart man.

    Been long time since I been on dsmtuners, back then Brent rau was only one running 6s but usually broke after any run. Seeing red demon and all the progress and achievements of there hard work.     Takes nerves of steel to have the car sliding all over the place and not lift...while simultaneously shifting gears. He's a hell of a driver for sure. I never thought i'd see the day an H-pattern stick shift would run 6's. You know a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into that.
