I think that, so far, this is the most positive review of the shoe I heard. Everyone is a little confused but I think you found perhaps the hidden meaning of the Kinvara Pro.
Correct I’ve not looked at the shoe as a super trainer more a stable ride for those who need some guidance but looking for some of the technology from the faster shoes
I know BITR weren’t so keen, but the Road Trail Run team all seem to love it in their review.
Yea they said it was better than both the sc trainer and superblast
This is the best review of this shoe that I have seen. Good deep dive, great segway about the stability. This is what a review should be, Helping people find shoes that could suit them. Well done.
I appreciate that!
This is such a great review, Saucony should be paying you for explaining this shoe better than they ever could ❤
Picked up NB Propel V4 on super sale. Love the cush, stability, and slight pop. Thinking about pairing these with the Propel V4s as I train up for half to full marathon. The Propel V4 stability feels great. These seem like a logical pairing for long days. I think any neutral race day shoe would let me down late into a half or full marathon.
Most of the reviews of shoes are being done by near-elite runners, weighing 3,5 grams.
For most of us runners with real jobs and limited time, weighing a little bit more, those reviews are next to useless.
This review on the other hand, is something that needs to be done more often.
An empathic review
Love it.
Thank you
Thanks as always Fordy lad! Can't wait for the vs vid against the Superblast...based on the pricing I am almost sure thats the competitor they were going after...almost sure it does not beat it.
Drops tomorrow
Ha! Amazing. I feel like you were speaking to me at the end of this video! This is definitely something for me to consider for the next marathon. Ill have to see how the width is. Thanks for the great review.
Welcome
Thanks Fordy. I love Kinvaraaaa. Thanks for this information about the new Kinvara pro. Here is my like. 🌞🏃🌞
Thank you
Let’s GO! August 1st is going TO be epic. Loving the THREADS here - keep the conversations going. 👀🤫📲
😍
This is really interesting, I wear normal shoes but I do pronate a bit, I’ve stayed away from carbon shoes for this reason but this looks like a decent option great review thank you 🙏
Worth a go
It would be interesting to see how the Kinvara Pro stacks up against the Asics Superblast, New Balance SC Trainer V2, Hoka Mach X and maybe the Endorphin Pro 3 - as fast training / race shoes for people needing a bit of stability.
Today we have vs superblast
I’m running the Boston Marathon in April and I plan to run in this shoe on race day! I was going to wait until the Endorphin 4 comes out but It’s release is a little too close to the marathon
A quite different scope of the other reviews, well done!
The only issue is that I was about to pick the Boston 12 , then the Superblast and now I am in doubt again 🤣... def like stable shoes but also lighter shoes...
If I was buying one shoe now I’d lean towards the Boston 12
Boston 12 is amazing
So roatation for me :) Ride 16, triumph 20/21, kinvara pro and endorphin pro 3 :D
great review like always!
Yep love it
Hi Fordy, I`m mainly a trail runner but this year decided to do Manchester marathon, thought I`d see what time I could knock out on the roads (turned out to be 3:17). Anyway, I ended up doing my speed workouts and long runs in carbon plated shoes which I think lead to an ankle overuse injury, apparently training in carbon plated shoes too much can result in injury as it weakens muscles, tendons etc that you would normally strengthen in an un-plated shoe. so I suppose my question is, do you think having carbon plated daily trainers are a good idea as it will mean most, if not all daily miles will be in a carbon shoe and thus, potentially increasing risk of weakness/overuse related injury??
Good review 👍 this looks interesting for me as I'm looking for a faster everyday trainer. I've gor the Speed 3 which was my favourite for a while but noticed after 380kms that it feels dead/lifeless already (I'm not heavy 77kg) Do you think the foam would last longer in the Kinvara pro?
this has a the three elements too it so I would hope so
try the noosa 15... :)
@thomasmueller77911 good call...I have the Novablast 3 and love it. Probably can't help but run fast in the Noosa with those colours 😂
Hi Fordy. Thanks for your great content. Im a stability shoe wearer and I have added the Endorphin Pro2 on my Xmas list. I have a few question pls - would you advise wearing a off-the-shelf orthodontic sole or is it stable enough for mild pronation? Would you still recommend this or Endorphin Pro3 or Kinvara Pro? Thanks so much 👍🏾
I think the kinvara pro is a better shoe for anyone with mild stability needs
Great review! For someone who can just about get away with wearing the speed 3, which would you pick for the marathon distance given the higher stack and carbon plate in this vs the lighter and bouncier but lower stack speed 3?
I’d go these
All I can say is nice shirt Fordy 👍 Dunno about the shoe…. If I were shelling out that much I’d prob go for the Superblast 🤔
Fair enough!
So now the challenge. I'm looking for a more stable Speed 3 for tempo, long runs, and the occasional race. How do these stack up against the Bostons? I was originally thinking of pulling the trigger on the Bostons but now I'm intrigued by these.
I’d go these as the Boston is really a daily shoe
Maybe just maybe my Budapest marathon shoe is here! Was thinking using Superblast but KP maybe the one. Just this morning in my Saucony Endorphin Pro I slipped off the heal on a corner. Think I'll invest in these and maybe rock Budapest.... Cheers Chris
Good luck
I’m scared of the day my Speed 2s give up. So many similar Saucony shoes - Speed 3, Kinvara, Triumph. Thanks for the video Chris - hope you enjoyed GNR as much as I did.
I thought they were amazing
Do you have an idea also on the next release of the asics metaspeed sky v3?
I do not I’m afraid but I can find out
Thanks for the early doors review…lost me at 300g+, they’re smoking pebax at 200 lids too
Fair enough
For an everyday runner, would having this and the Pro 3 make sense? I don’t race a whole lot, so wondering if both is too much overlap.
I’d have one or the other
The Kinvara 12 and 13 has become my favourite training shoe, for about everything. Its behaves very stabile. With very disappointing experience with carbon plated shoes this could be the racing shoe for me. Better start saving up money. 😂
its alot of money!!!
I’ll be really interested this time next year when it’s about £100 😅
which it will be
Kinvara pro or speed 4? Which one of the 2 would you recommend?
If you pronate the kinvara
Sounds like a heavier version of the Superblast. I know it doesn’t have a plate but it is already pretty stiff. Wide base, high stack, high price but you are getting more of the race foam which is the main reason for the weight difference…
Yep and the plate
How does it compare to the sc trainer v1 in speed?
Not a fan of V1
seeing a lot of shoetubers confused some saying you can run fast some saying you can't so what is the deal Fordy? can you pick up the pace better than the sc trianer v2?
I’m looking at it differently …. this is a shoe for anyone who wants a plated stable ride
How does it compare to super blast and sc trainer 2 ?
Perfect for someone after stability
@@FordyRuns so what would you pick out of theses shoes personally?
Would you choose Kinvara pro or Deviate nitro 2 as a long run shoe?
we are talking a slow pace here like 6 to 6 30 per kilometer
Kinvara
But what's wrong with the Tempus for races? I'm not sure it will be faster than the Tempus, considering that the Tempus also has pwrun pb and 2 ounces lighter! For that price it's a high gamble.
If you want higher stack and a plate
Is this a tempo shoe for bigger runners
Yep
I think with no rubber on the bottom, the life of the shoe will be minimal? How many miles are we expecting out of these?
Saucony think quite a few
In the US, they’ve discounted this shoe 30% off.
Edit: the sale is gone now. It was on sale for a few hours.
Thanks, Fordy! I have the Endorphin Speed 2, and I can get away with it for a 5k, but anything longer I find I want something with better stability in the heel. I'll have to give this a try!
You’ll like these
I’ve debating this & the NB SC Trainer 2 as a plated trainer. Which one you lean too? I love my Speed 3 so if it’s not much “better” than that shoe, no reason to purchase then, in my opinion.
The SC is soft be warned
2:36 Is the price correct?
£200
mach x vs kinvara pro ?
Kinvara that Mach x is very dull
This one is looking a bit like endo shift - which i love.. but with higher price and more "tech" in it.. dont see that make me want it lol
It’s defo the shoe the shift should be
Would you say it's a steal at $120 ?
If you get it there sure
Mach X or Kinvara pro?
Kinvara pro
@@FordyRuns Thanks Fordy
They should have called the Triuimph Pro.
Good point
In reviews directly comparing the Triumph 21 against the Kinvara Pro the Triumph comes out top in every dept. So not sure naming it the Triumph Pro would have been a good move.
Still unclear of it's purpose in a running rotation. Why would they double the heel drop from 4mm to 8mm, then make it heavier than the 14? I don't get it. I'll stick with my Speed 3. Cheers, Chris.
they have confused everyone with the name but if it was called Shift for example I think it may be viewed differently
@@FordyRuns Thanks for clarifying the stability bit.
They made mistake with naming, will realise and swith back in couple of years like adidas with boston lol
I found the fit of the TEMPUS terrible. Narrow toebox. No problem with Triumph 20 fit or Speed 3.. Is this narrow in the toebox like Tempus 😢 or Triumph ❤ 20?
Truimph
Imo all those 3 have great upper, and defenetly same toe box room - at least for me, wider feet too
@@tkwasik I am beginning to think I bought a prototype Tempus. My shoes have super narrow toebox... The ONLY shoe I have this problem in 🙄
No real outsole. Very highly priced. The shoe is in no man’s land. I feel this is a Frankenstein shoe that they still need to fine tune. I’d rather wait for the Tempus 2, which will come in at a lower price. Only upside is the carbon plate, which many stability shoe wearers couldn’t care less about. Good looking, though.
Tempus 2 supposedly an upper update … let’s see
Unfortunately got stung by the Tempus, which I'd so badly wanted to enjoy!! will give Saucony a miss for now.
Fair enough try the superblast
Unfortunately, this is shoe is very expensive. I would wait on the arrival of Endorphine Speed 4!
Feb
@@FordyRuns FEB 2024 for Endorphin Speed 4 to be released?
Same weight as the Triumph 20...
Yep weight is an issue but I’d take it because of the ride you get which is stable and pretty uptempo
Weird shoe despite the nice review. Probably the most interesting thing about this Kinvara is your Guns 'n Roses t-shirt.
great t
(1) More comfortable than the Speed 3?! Good heavens. (2) A Kinvara that isn’t light? Weird. Maybe not the right name then.
i prefer SHIFT 4
too expensive, but nice look
Fair enough!
The messaging and positioning of this shoe is confusing. Training/race day shoe for those that need more support than the Speed 3. Ok. Why call it the Kinvara Pro when kinvara is associated with speed/minimalist type shoe? No rubber at all on the outsole. Pricing is crazy. The Tempus is a great shoe. Couldn’t Saucony cram a plate in that if people really want a plated stability trainer?
I love Saucony. Endorphin pro, speed, triumph, Tempus are great shoes. But I think they panicked a bit here and have missed the mark with this one. I really hope I’m wrong but let’s see
They did should have just called this the shift 4
Not sure how much $$$ Saucony paid you to speak so highly of this 11oz brick in my US 11.5. I tried this on last week and it's basically their version of the Zoom Fly 5 boat anchor. 💩
1. I wasn’t paid I think I made that clear
2. I was gifted the shoe for the purpose of review
3. You ‘tried’ them
4. When this video was filmed I had c30 miles in the shoe
5. That’s now more like 60 including a 16 mile mixed goal effort and the shoe was excellent
6. Next time be nice or give constructive criticism
7. I agree re Nike
8. Have a great day
9. 🤣
Sounds heavy and expensive 🤔
It’s expensive
From what I see and feel in Tempus and what I hear about Mach X and other shoes combining super foam and EVA, this is not working well. As long as they have EVA anywhere near the midsole, I'm not spending my money on that again. EVA is unnecessarily adding firmness to the shoe for no reason or is soft and dull. In one word - useless garbage you don't need when you can pick so much better now. Why don't they finally send EVA to the museum where it belongs? EVA is like a bad habit the companies refuse to get rid of.
From my next training shoe I expect to be better than Superblast, not worse. Superblast is very stable too.
Don't need a stability shoe besides Superblast, certainly not Tempus that is gathering dust in my closet.
Waiting to see what's the Prime X Strung v2 all about. The v1 was fantastic, but not stable enough for everyday use. I might be saving my money for that one, if it works better than v1.
im not really a fan of the mach x so far
@@FordyRuns me neither. thanks to your review went to try the Mach in a store. Couldn’t get a good lockdown at all and it just felt too built up. I did walk in wearing my end. Speed 3s though so probably skewed it from the go.
Why do they call it Kinvara? It makes no sense whatsoever. Kinvara is a fun lightweight 4 mm drop shoe
Should have been called shift 4
Yeah but works anyone "break" shift with plate
Rubbish shoe. Saucony ruined the Kinvara line with the 14 and then they made it even worse with the 14 pro. Unbelievable.
have you tried it?
@@FordyRuns tried the 14 but exchanged it for another pair of 13’s. also tried the Asics Hyper Speed 3 - another shoe ruined by too much midsole foam. I wish New Balance would bring back the 1400V6 - that shoe couldn’t be more perfect
@michealgerhardt2876 Try the Topo Cyclone 2. Same type of shoe as the Kinvara 13 but way better in everyway. Same stack height and even lighter than the Kinvara. It also has a full Pebax midsole with a better upper than the Kinvara. It runs long, so you need to go a half size down. Topo offers a 30 day risk free trial period return policy if not satisfied after worn.
@@jefreywith1f924 hell yeah i’ve been wanting to try that shoe really bad!
Saucony triumph 20 now 80 quid on sports shoes. Be insane not to!!
yep
