I’m sure you’ve heard this by now, but when you torque that nut down with out using a flat head screw driver to hold the stem in place, you are tightening the stem with the nut. Correct way it to get open end torque box wrenches while holding the stem in place with a flat head screw driver.
yea, it's a fight to get them set properly when the screw moves with the locknut. I didn't have any crows foot sockets, otherwise i would have used them!
I'm following your procedure in this video. I've got the #1 cylinder @ TDC and have done those steps. How do I know for sure when #6 is at TDC? Is it a specific degree away from #1 TDC or is there some other concrete way to tell it's exactly there?
I see your Top Radiator hose goes to the Passenger side. Which makes me think this was a Pre 91.5 truck Nonintercooled. Would I be correct? I'm curious to see how the HE351 swap works out for you, and more specifically how your spring gate waste gate works for you. Im running a compound setup with an HE351 as my Secondary. It's pretty awesome. BTW, that Barring tool is around 30 bucks and makes life easier when setting the Overhead on your 5.9. Great Vid Buddy!!
Yes, that's a downflow radiator (brand new from rockauto for $350!) and an (originally) non intercooled truck. It has a 2nd gen intercooler swapped into it. Tomorrow hopefully i'll be finishing the swap, video should be out soon!
Nope, they're a squishy silicone, designed in such a way i assume due to the solid lifters that require adjustment every so often. I've had my valve covers off once or twice and they still seal just fine.
Thank you for the tip on how to find tdc when you are alone and cranking from below the vehicle. !!
you could make a living just doing these complex, but clearly narrated informative videos. [but even tho, don't quit your day job haha]
Never mind I read some of the comments great video thank you sir
the tip about cleaning is most important...thanks

Another easy way is to use a remote starter switch to bump over the engine

Is it better to do it when its warm or cold
What intake manifold is that? Do the intake manifolds from 2 and 3 gens work?
Stock. I think they're all the same.
Do you adjust the valves at operating temperature? What I mean is when it is warmed up?
I do it cold.
The valve cover gaskets are not reusable, there supposed to be replaced every time
