- Ingredients
Beetroot-5
Small Onion-10
Crushed chilli-1 1/2tsp
Curry Leaves-
Salt-
Coconut Oil-1 1/2tbsp
Grated Coconut-2-3tbsp
Method
Wash and peel beetroot and cut in to half and grate .. or
If u have chopper u can chop into fine pieces ..
Cook beetroot in a cooker along with water and salt …mostly 3 whistle is enough.
or if u r using microwave,
In a bowl add grated beetroot along with salt and water .
Close the bowl with a tight lid and cook for 15 minutes and then open and stir well ..
Cook for another 5 minutes with out closing ..
Open the cooker after 5 minutes.. .
In between crush small onion and dry chilli flakes together ..
Heat oil in a pan ,sauté onion -chilli mix along with curry leaves..
When the raw smell goes add grated coconut and sauté for 2 minutes ..
Then add cooked beetroot and sauté until the mix becomes dry ..
Check the salt ..

I cooked this Beetroot thoran for today but I cooked directly.Because I tried to avoid microwave food as much as possible.It really comes out very well.I used my own garden grown Betetroot so it was very sweety & tasty.Thank you for the recipe.

dear veena Chechi, to prevent this coloration from spices , after cooking just add baking soda and vinegar to the utensil and wash after sometime...... definitely u can remove that color of spices .. u can try it now too n see the difference !!! I do this all the time for my new utensils n there is no discoloration at all........

Thank you very much for this recipe. I used to pressure cook the whole beetroot and then cut into small pieces. It didn't cook evenly. Your tip is great! My husband liked beetroot thoran very much. We had beetroot thoran along with rice and morucurry for dinner. He took the leftover for lunch. Keep cooking :) Thanks again!

We celebrated our sons birthday on July 23 , i have followed your chicken biriyani , payasams and gobi manchoorian . I got good comments from all my friends and family. It's really belongs to you. I recommend your videos for my friends too. We living in Australia. I was ignorant about cooking, when we came here. Even doesn't basic curry recipes. Followed lots and lots of cooking videos but it was not perfect. Since I have followed your recipes my husband itself considered me as a good chef 😜. I have done most of your recipes and all of them was great success. Not only your recipes but I would like to practice your cooking tips and tricks also.
