    Amazing video! The wing landing light extension never gets old on these birds. Also, this 717 has the newer, longer strobes upgraded by Delta!

      I love this aircraft! I fly on them at least once a year because I fly into Melbourne,Florida every June out of ATL. It seems like this is a shuttle aircraft between Melbourne,FL and ATL. They are very reliable and comfortable!

      Albany Aviation Thanks! Really glad you enjoyed the vid. The sound of the 717 on the takeoff roll is pretty awesome. One of the few unique passenger airliners out there imo.

      Yeah last summer I flew an MD-88 out of Atlanta and the engine noise was so much better in person!

      Albany Aviation That’s awesome! Yeah the camera mic doesn’t do the sound justice. In person it resonates throughout the cabin and surrounds you.

      Albany Aviation Tis but a number 🙂 I like to be personable with those who take the time to watch my vids and strike up conversation. Rather than tell someone to go to Google to find their answer, I assume they just want to have a fun conversation so I’ll answer their question for the sake of fun conversation about airplanes.

    I didn’t know that Delta still used 717’s, Allegiant is replacing all of their MD-80’s and 757’s with A320’s, and Policia Federal in Mexico still operates 4 727’s, I don’t know how or why, but they’re just still operating old 727’s

    • @cheeseman1772
      @cheeseman1772 Před 5 lety

      717 are fairly new. Even though the name suggests they were made in the 60's they were actually made in the early 2000's

    • @LoveJT8D
      @LoveJT8D  Před 5 lety

      DylBeen the Plotagonist and randomee 240 The 717 also has newer Rolls Royce BR700 series engines which are much more efficient than older JT8Ds. Glad to see 727s still flying today. There are a handful of them still flying as VIP aircraft as well.

      @dylbeentheplotagonistandra2811 Před 5 lety

      LoveJT8D the 727s that the Federal Police in Mexico operate are 727-200, and they also operate 2(1 on order) CASA CN-235-400 turboprops

    • @m.hstudioproductions6642
      @m.hstudioproductions6642 Před 5 lety

      @@cheeseman1772 The 717 actually started as a McDonnell Douglas design formerly known as the MD-95, a fuel efficient 100 seat replacement for older generation aircraft like the DC-9. A low cost startup company called ValuJet were to take delivery for 50 of the new airliners in October 1995, but the carrier had a poor safety record when one of their DC-9s had an engine explosion when departing from Atlanta and the 2nd one in the fleet crashed into the Everglades killing all 110 passengers and crew on board. When McDonnell Douglas was bought out by Boeing in August 1997, they changed the designation to 717 and made it's maiden flight on September 2, 1998. It entered service with AirTran Airways in October 1999. 156 of the aircraft were built, production ceased on May 2006.
