  • The AE1500 is the G-Shock killer for the budget minded Casio enthusiast. The AE1500 has the four basic functions...and with the perks of 5 programmable alarms with a snooze option, timer with a recurring timer option, dual LED light, and the most legible display I've ever seen on any Casio let alone under $25!! This is THE BEST Casio under $25 bar none.

    This is my favorite Casio, including my GShocks. I actually have a second one coming tomorrow in a different color. If they maintained dimensions, turned it into a GShock and integrated tough solar and multiband, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. But for $21, my feelings won’t be too hurt if they just leave it as is. Honestly, this watch just makes most of my other watches look stupid. 😂

      I think you and a few others were the patient-with-Tim viewers as I reluctantly bought this one...and many thanks to you! I love this watch and I 100% agree...tough solar and atomic...no need to pay 2-3 times more for a G-Shock that doesn't get adequately abused for the G-Shock label/stats.

    To be in the 40 dollar range, it should have mineral crystal and display current time in timer and chronograph modes. But otherwise it's a great watch with great pushers that have a double joint inside (like 200 m WR watches). With a diameter 5mm smaller, it could d be a perfect watch.

I recently bought a w736h , Big Sky, with a positive screen. I love the legibility and the vibration alarm. I have been wearing while I am sleeping, it fits great on my arm, to see if it will wake me up, and it does. The AE 1500 sounds great, particularly since it has the 5 alarms with a snooze alarm too. So I saw this review and I literally just got the AE 1500 today (5-25) ... love the display on this watch and it probably will be my go to work watch.... if the GD 350 had this kind of display, it would be the absolute perfect watch... like you, I can do without all the meters, bars, Or whatever you want to call the little extras, they put on most of their watches.... The display on the 1500 is just what it should be... the date on the top, a second counter on the bottom, and the main time displayed right where it should be ,in the middle... Even if they made the display smaller to accommodate other watches, it's still the best format of any display

    Have this one and LOVE it. So much value here. Great idea about a battery meter in place of the 10 second countdown, it'd probably use a little less juice too, might get 11 years out of the battery. 🤣. I also have the same model GD-350 you showed and love that watch as well. Such a great display screen and fits my 7.25" wrist like a glove & so comfortable in spite of it's larger stature. Maybe my favorite G-Shock and I (for better or worse) have more than a few.
    I agree with another commenter somewhere who said that the GD-350 should be the "King of Gs", not the GXW-56!

      Agree wholeheartedly that the GD350 is the quintessential G-Shock. It has a look to it that is simply rigged without the extra over engineered garbage on many of the large G-Shocks. The functions are very user friendly.

    That’s a great watch. It’s so legible! I’d consider it if it came in about a 90% size. It’s just too big for my 6 1/4” wrist. I can do a 43mm in a few cases, but my normal cutoff is 40mm, or about a 48mm lug-to-lug.

    • @Realidealgear
      @Realidealgear  Před 3 měsíci

      Excellent point. Shave a few mm off the case diameter and they hit a larger audience.
      I think the high legibility largely dependent on the numbers for the time being in the very center of the display...which means a smaller diameter watch may not be as adversely affected by a downsized dial as would an off-centered time display.

    Hahaha. Knew you were resisting it because of size, though the display would be right up your alley. I have the green one with the extra long strap that has a double tang buckle, making it even more “G-Shocky” though it’s not. Closest Casios to G-Shock is the DW-291 as it has mineral glass, 200m WR and a steel reinforced plastic case.
    As to AE-1500, yeah super comfortable and legible and affordable, especially there in the US. Here we are not so lucky, I paid almost 50USD for mine. This is a killer utility watch 100%. And about the problem with the strap adjustment, another CZcamsr channel "All Things Random" showed how he solve it using some 3m Doble side tape and foam in the caseback of its casio, and to be honest I found it a very simple yet elegant solution, maybe it won't work on those hybrid/fitness watches like the gshock square HR or the GBD-H2000 with their heart rate sensor but outside of those few? I think it's really a good solution. As for this AE1500, I saw many collective them for the colors, I think the white one in negative display is very awesome.

      100% agree. It was like a bolt of lightning. I literally stopped doing what I was doing pulled out all the Casios I have to verify. Sure enough, all the watches that rated high on legibility…made better use of the middle. It makes me think Casios could be easily designed with better legibility by simply making the time more centrally located and this especially on the smaller watches…leverage a smaller round case toward more efficient use of the middle. Thanks commenting and watching! Take care.

    In other news: The Casio G-Shock killer watch gets killed by shock. You can't be a G-Shock killer when you are not shock proof.

      How is a G-Shock shock proof? No where in any Casio material to they claim "shock proof." My understanding is that it can withstand shocks up to a given level and that level far exceeds any typical shock...not ALL shock hence the moniker of shock resistant.
      With that in mind, the AE1500 has a very good level of shock resistance. For the average consumer/user, it checks the box. Check out my shock test of a Casio F200. Not a G-Shock...and non of the situations I put the F200 through would be typical shock issues. They are abnormal issues include ricocheted debris from a bullet. It's a G-Shock killer for 95% of consumer/users.

    Love it. Bought multiple colorways. It's a sickness.

      That's what I'm gathering from the feedback. May have to look a bit further into options. Have a great weekend.

    I don't think fitment means what you think it means.

    I'm keeping this one for good, and using my Full Metal GMB2100 for a beater, just because the GMB2100 is so hard to read, it's useless -- totally impractical -- complete waste of money.

      @Realidealgear  Před 3 měsíci

      The AE1500 is a complete surprise to me on legibility and all I mentioned in the video. The GMB2100 is a great looking design…it struggles to make even reasonable, functional use of its very small digital display.
      I appreciate your comments. Take care.

    This is NOT a G-Shock .... Only a normal cheap Casio..... NOT SHOCK RESISTANT ! The best buy is to buy the cheapest G- Shock model maybe the DW5600 or the DW 6900 .

      Agreed…let me add some qualifiers. T
      he average consumer never pushes the normal Casio to its limits. In a video I’ve published, I bounced, dropped and even shot a bully at a normal Casio and…it’s worked fine. G-Shocks are overrated for the avg consumer.
      As a former LEO who wore a normal Casio, g-shocks were repetitively redundant in protection. In my experience and observing many other LEOs with normal Casios, they will outperform most experiences except the repetitive exposure to extreme circumstances…and G-Shock watches are amazing in that regard.
      I encourage you to check out my F200 abuse test specifically about increasing levels of shock. All tests were performed on the same watch.

      First, thank you for watching and commenting.
      I'd love to read about why it's not a G-Shock killer, curious.

      @@Realidealgear for practice used it's ok but in the end a g shock last longer in terms of the design. It's look much cooler 😁
