- I run through the entire game on a New Game Dante Must Die! difficulty run with the Legendary Dark Knight, obtaining 100%. The 100% category is defined as collecting all permanent upgrades, which are all blue orbs, purple orbs, Devil Arms, firearms, and skills for the Devil Arms, as well as all S ranks for the King of Hell picture. The choice of using LDK is only for Mission 1, afterwards, it only becomes a cosmetic change.
There is one death during Secret Mission 5, but it is done during the intermission, so there is no time lost in the in game timer. - Hry

Except this is the HD Collection version, so it doesn't really count. It's based on the Japanese version, which is at least three times as easy as the original American release on PS2 :)

HD Collection version is based on Japanese version, which is twice as easy as the original NTSC (American) release. :)

I also wonder why they do this. Do they believe American players are more proficient, or is this some form of payback for Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Far-fetched as it may sound, Japanese can be politely racist.
@Reloaded Past Japanese version is the HD version. It's almost twice as easy due to more health spawns, less aggressive enemy AI, and reduced damage done to Dante on all difficulties. Increased damage done to enemies, and enemy DT does 3x more damage in all versions regardless.

Answer is: HD Collection, based on the Japanese PS2 release, 3 times easier than the NTSC (American) version. Someone even posted a difficulty chart with all the stat differences between versions.
BTW, Grenade launcher cancel-spamming is not a new tactic. It's scrubby asf.

@BlacK40k Basically, it was discovered via RAM testing that the North American release of DMC is programmed that Dante takes 20% more damage and deals 20% less damage, and this stacks with the difficulty health and damage changes.
Whereas with the Japanese Version, which the HD collection is made from, Dante has no such penalties independent of the difficulty you're on.

I hated fighting some of these bosses on normal (namely Griffon 2 and Mundus, Nelo Angelo 3 destroyed me but I didn't hate the fight) but you made them look like a joke. Wow.

Don't feel ashamed brother! I got into the series by the switch and oh man, I was confused on my first playthrough. Only a couple months later, I got all of the blue orbs, full DT and completed DMD. I hope you enjoy it and play it how you like!
Hate to break it to you, but this is the Japanese version. HD collection is based on it, it's 3 times easier than the American PS2 version. Not a joke, there's a difficulty chart posted online with the differences.

I like how Dante's shadow has little demon wings.
That's not Dante, that‘s actually Sparda. When you finished Hard Mode you can unlock the Sparda costume, it changes Dante's appearance and his shadow as well as some of Dante's weapons (the handguns become Luce & Ombra, Alastor becomes Yamato).
@@d4rksonic474Yamato functions the same as alastor. It doesn't replace it, as you can still get it from the stabbed statue.

Agreed, mate-i mean, it may not be as evolved as the others, but it's actually the DMC game i respect the most. Fair challenge, nice levels and enemies, the castle and all that make it a real classic.

@@evilshinobi7712 bro, there's so many glitches and unpatched parts of the game, it's insane. Currently on my DMD mode, my inventory screen is broken to where I pick my weapons on my gun screen and my guns on my weapon screen. I'll think I've picked grenade gun but in reality ive just picked ifrit and/or vise versa.

I am playing DCM on DMD english version. I'm on my last fight with Vergil at the moment. It seems that in japanese version bosses are making less atacks than in the english version , and they are easier to defeat. That's why every speedrunner is using the japanese version instead of english.
If you're on the HD version, you can switch to Japanese or any other language if you want to. When you have a certain knowledge of the game, it lets you control the bosses in a way that helps you, such as letting you kill them faster, instead of the bosses attacking, making it seem that there's a version difference.
You're right, the NTSC PS2 original version is significantly harder across the board than the Japanese version (HD collection). Language settings have nothing to do with it, the difficulty is hard-coded into the game.
The damage done to enemies and bosses here is ridiculous. This is easier than American Normal mode.
I think DMC6 should be a little more like this

I've read somewhere that DMC1's DMD mode is unlocked by beating the game twice, noy by beating Hard NG+ per se. So can you do two Normal new games and unlock it? What about two Easy playthroughs?
What if you beat a New Game on Hard mode instead of Hard ng+. Would that unlock DMD?
Easy mode will only let you continue onto another easy mode run. You don't unlock difficulty selection until you beat Hard NG+. You can't even do Hard NG withohut beating Hard NG+ first.

After 1:00:00, how did you get the two lances? I always get them from the blue shield room. How did the blue orb fragment appear before you get the lances?
Edit: Superb gameplay by the way. I learned lots of tricks.
The twin lances appear in the first room that shows up, and the Nightmare Beta shows up in the second room. Since I avoided the blue room, I got the twin lances to appear. The blue orb fragment appears if you hit a trigger point under the platform. So I purposely missed the platform to hit the point underneath it.

Fusey but this guy has gotten hit multiple times throughout this video and still got S. I think it mostly counts on mission time and red orbs
i have 1 ''trick'' for the blue fragments in this game in the mission 14 close to the waterfall is a blue fragment right?,you don't take it continue the mission.Later in the mission 15 or 16 when its NIGHT,you must return for the missing fragment and this one ''evolves'' to a blue orb. Seriously? I never knew that! So you get a extra full blue orb? I always thought when I 100% everything there's still some health missing.
Sounds like a glitch...
I tried it and it turns out you get an extra health upgrade earlier in the game, you still miss a orb piece if you collected everything, thus nothing changes. Only thing is that you will always see that you are still missing 1 orb piece out of 4 but in fact you already have everything.
How do you do that long distance jump? I know in some parts your able to do it but you seem to know certain buttons that’ll get you that jump
In some places, you can just press jump and you'll do the long jump. To do it on command, stinger off an edge, and Dante will do the long jump.
dude how are you doing it. dmc1 dmd is the hardest in the series. I tried this once and the regular enemies killed me with two hits.

31:10 I don't get it. When he does this move he does nearly 4 times more damage copmared when I do the same with DT. What is that about?
You need to do two things. Air hike will boost the power of the attack. The main thing though, which is the hard part, is the positioning. If you don't hit the right spot, you will not do full damage. If you look at the third hit to Phantom, it does not do the full damage because I did not get into the right position.

fun fact here comparing the hp of the enemies in hard mode and dmd mode is in dmd mode the hp of the enemies is i think 125% while in hard mode is 150% but the differentials is that if enemies trigger a dt mode in dmd is too busted when dante is damaged so when killing enemies comparing hard mode and dmd mode? dmd mode enemies is more squishy than hard mode
If you are playing the PS2 USA or PAL versions, Normal and Hard have 125% of the HP of the DMD enemies, which is the same as saying the DMD enemies have 80% of the HP of Normal and Hard. If you're playing PS2 JPN or any of the HD versions, enemies in any difficulty have the same HP, which is the DMD health.

@@dazitmane8905 The USA version is way harder. Dante does less damage, enemies do more damage, a crapton of different stats ultimately resulting in a game twice/thrice as hard.
HD versions are all based on the Japanese version, the easiest one.
I'm playing the NTSC original on Hard mode, NG right now. S ranking it is VERY fun.

Not just the maps, the whole game was supposed to be RE4, but as it kept getting crazier and crazier in its deviation from what Resident Evil was at the time, they decided to make it it's own IP

That secret mission automatically fails if you damage one of the Kyklops. You need to get them to shoot rocks at each other until one dies.

Are you playing the PS2 American version by chance? Because it's 2-3 times as hard as this version (HD version). HD Collection is the Japanese version, easiest one.

After I finish the game how the hell do I start a new games on DMD mode and keep my upgrades? It’s really confusing.
U need to finish the game in normal mode, then in hard, then you will able to play DMD and will unlock the dark knight
If u beat the game in DMD u will unlock the "super dante" mode

Did you try holding the melee button? If you want to charge Meteor, you need to hold the button. For Sparda's meteors, you just press the firearm button.

Why you doing so much damage to Phantom at the first fight!?!? I only make 1/3 of your demage for each strike, and like I'm almost full health, have all Alastor upgrades and almost all of Ifrit
You need to get the positioning just correct. If you don't get the right position, you don't do as much damage.
If you're playing the original PS2 American release, the game is 2-3 times as hard as this version (HD Collection is actually the Japanese version).

@@nox_cadit Yes, seriously. Even the damage Dante deals is lower on NTSC version, but it has to be the PS2 original. You die in 2-3 hits at most at maxed out HP.
I'd give you the link to the difficulty comparison chart, but CZcams doesn't accept links. Hard mode is crazy, this is cakewalk compared to that. I'm currently doing Hard NG, S-ranking every mission. REALLY intense.

@@jamarr27 it both does not make sense sparda come back just like does not make sense this VA to dub him... if sparda come back nost of his legend will die, since vergil and dante already surpassed him in brute power but he still lived a lot of time and made a legend where the more you know the more he is epic
(And also hooking things that are stated dead on a series makes them like dragon ball nowadays where everyone dies and revives a lot of times)
@@eduardodias2073 1 his legend is already set. What you are really saying is his legend IS already dead because the both passed him. So it wouldn't matter if he came back. And sparda can always get boost in power DMCV is a prime example of that, so them being stronger than him at them moment doesn't mean much
@@jamarr27 if you're REALLY close of DMC like knowing the novels you must know that the "boost" for both dante and vergil were already being planned from DMC2 so its not that simple to "boost" someone just because you think its time... and as said before dante, vergil and nero surpassed him in brute power, however they would not stand a chance against him even together so allow me explain.
In DMC4 if my mind dont trick me, dante himself said that Nero surpassed him in power BUT he still bullied him every time they fought because Dante still surpass him in experience (if you think about it it is even reflected in gameplay if you see that both Dante and Vergil have mutilple devil arms,styles and their tricks during battle while Nero is isolated only in four things wich is his sword, gun, devil bringer and his Devil Trigger) so following that line of thinking Sparda lives much more than 2000 years... and like this is not much, we can assume that he had a huge arsenal of skills and abilities like the magic he used on the seven sins making them to lose their name. About his legend it is really huge since it was him and two disciples Baul and Modeus against the ENTIRE hell, he made the tower from DMC3 to separate the human world from the demon one, he created both Yamato, Rebellion and Sparda (sword) and now they are fucking strong in the hands of his sons, he defeated both Argosax and Bolverk TOGETHER and even sealed one of them. What he did is much far of Dante, Vergil or even Nero's range right now, someaday they get compared with Sparda himself they have a lot to do and learn before.
Is there a way to change your outfit after you’ve already started the game? I loaded an old DMD file, and I’m 5 missions in and I don’t wanna start over just to switch an outfit
Looks like you have to start a new game on DMD mode, it can't be a new game plus run.

@@qaycab3722 By the time you get to Nightmare a third time on Dante Must Die, you likely have turned the core red. When it turns red, the core takes 1/2 damage. Once it is red, you can't turn it back. To prevent the core from turning red on DMD requires knowledge of core management, which is something you have to learn. It would take a while for you to learn everything by yourself.
How can you select difficulty in new game?
By beating the game on a difficulty through NG+ I believe
14:55 why did your DT max out?
You get a DT refill from killing the Death Scissor. It can take a while after you kill it for the refill to happen though.

If I unlock the Dante must die difficulty that I won’t last very long. and it’s a disadvantage for me but it wasn’t hard trying unlocking unlimited devil trigger for dmc 5/ dmc the 2013 reboot easy just all I had to do is not die that’s the one rule.
