Awesome video. I had this happen when flying the LOC BC Rwy 19 at Rockford (with a G1000 on a Cirrus SR20 G6), which has a final course of 188. If you load the approach, it will load it with the reciprocal course of 008*. If you try to use NAV mode to capture the localizer, it will attempt to reverse to do a 180 on you, so best to just fly it manually via HDG mode (and no GS capture of course) and not arm APR mode, which will screw things up.
Another alternative switching from ILS 23R to ILS 23L: Go to HDG mode, CDI to GPS, PROC to ILS 23L, CDI back to LOC1, intercept localizer still in HDG mode and NAV to LOC, You will have no nav frequency problem and no ROL mode indication. Thanks for all the perfect instruction videos!
the way to fly a back course with an HSI is to set the front course, Unlike a basic VOR CDI instrument, the needle sensing will be correct. I suspect that if the GNS1000 had been left as it set itself up it would have worked correctly. will try it on X-plane just for grins
In my opinion this is not a bug. It would happen to you even in a conventional environment. What happens if you press the BC button instead of the NAV button?

“Never fully trust it to do the right thing.” - this alone would save lives every single year. Truer words have never been spoken.

These videos are great. Keep them coming.

Another excellent video. Well done!

Awesome video, I learned a couple things for sure!

Why didn’t you just go to loc 2 on the CDI?
which version of Garmin simulator they are using?
Why not just fly the gps overlay or do you have to fly green needles for this?
Ground based navigation requires green needles, ILS, VOR. LOC, SDF,
Why not just go into heading mode. Cancel the approach and load the new one.

Too complicated. Better to handfly from cruise to the runway. And always have an iPad out for backup.
This g1000 is full of traps. I dont like it.
