Wow..Wales has such beautiful hidden gems ! We did take our girls down the mines near Porthmadog,it was AMAZING. I couldn't hack underground now so fair play Tim ty 🎉 Homage to the miners, what a crazy brave job they did ❤⛏️👏💪💯
Im living in north wales
@@kellyowen3879 I love North Wales💯,go every year. I have been lucky enough to have seen the 🦈🦈 in the beautiful Cardigan Bay 💕
@@kellyowen3879 beautiful place
Favourite Tim UK video. Great variety, visuals and claustrophobia inducing. Terrifying but fun.
Even though it looks like a difficult and dangerous journey to the hotel, it’s probably still easier than navigating the way to the toilets in a Wetherspoon pub 😂
🤣 Too right!
Lol😂
And cleaner
@@SirBelvedere definitely 🤣
... there are toilets in Weatherspoon, wow, I never knew that 😮😮😮😮
From all of us at Go Below, thanks for coming and trying it out Tim. Was lovely to meet you 😃
Thanks miles
Ive said before, but this shows why this channel is so good, you just never know whats coming, clown motel, Butlins Hotel now we go full mines of moria, great work Tim. 👏
Moria, yes!
Living in the South, I also appreciated his early videos during those Depressing Cov Days, he covered Norfolk, Cromer Scarborough, Grt Y'mth and East Coast etc. But I agree I love his channel and variation.
@@davedree I agree, watching Tim's adventures has made me feel better on bad days, takes my mind off things
thank you
Imagine being the cleaner and being told on your first day that you need to hike down a mine everyday 😊
Or the Amazon delivery man
There is probably an easy way to get in staff and supplies. They make the guests go the long way to make them feel like it's a big adventure.
🤣
@@qwadpj5093yeah and yet in reality there's literally an entrance to the rooms that leads straight out to a service car park that's only a few feet away in the opposite direction from the way that the guests came 😂
@@jacobmassey3897 there has to be lol mean how would they even have got all the guts down there (mountain 🐐)
I can`t begin to imagine the logistics of creating that hotel down there; imagine someone just thought "Oh there`s an old, disused somewhat dodgy mine down there; I know, let`s build a hotel!" Massive respect to everyone who was adventurous (or crazy) enough to stay there though, wow Tim, amazing!! Once again congrats on the 250,000 subs!!
Totally.. the story is on there Website
Blows your mind to think how the furniture ended up down here! 😵💫
Great video as always mate!
Probably came down in the express lift they didn't tell you about! 🙂 (The same way they get the rubbish out!)
Wow! The accommodation looked super cosy but my, I couldn’t believe that descent! I thought the initial tunnel was bad enough but then you were virtually caving. You’re a brave man, Tim. I couldn’t cope with that. Very claustrophobic.
Nope, not for me 😂😂 . I'd be scared of the roof caving in!
Back in the 80s, I stayed down an underground limestone mine (more properly called a "Quarry") with some friends. We used to explore the mines every weekend with a group of friends. These are situated near the villages of Box and Corsham, in Wiltshire. We actually slept in bivvy bags and small tents. On this one occasion, we stayed overnight. Strange noises were the worst thing .... mostly from the sound of water dripping from the roof down onto various rocks puddles, but the imagination running wild made sleep difficult. Unlike Tim's experience, we had to put up with extremely high humidity, approaching 90%. Occasionally, we could hear the unsettling sound of trains passing through the famous Box Tunnel which was only a few hundred feet from our location.
The view on the way to the mine is breathtaking. The panorama is pure magic.
I don’t travel much, thank you for sharing your experiences.
In the dead of winter, I can dream about enchanting landscapes, pittoresque villages and sunny beaches.
Hells bells Tim, what a brave man you are. You couldn't get me down there for anything, that has to be the most unusual place that you have stayed. Did Miles stay there for days on end? 🤔Those slate miners deserve more recognition for what they had to do, amazing, thank you 😊
He is amazing tho.
agree
I couldn’t stop thinking about panicking to get out, then realising that it would take hours….😰
My claustrophobia won't let me go here. But I'm glad I could explore it via this video.
I just keep thinking about how difficult it would be to get all the furniture and equipment down the cave especially for things that don't bend or fold like the matresses
There is a industrial mine lift!
Mattress would be rolled up in a tube and the furniture is probably flat pack.
@@yummychoc6657 There is not.
The mattresses were very difficult, the double one especially. It took four big blokes a whole day for that one mattress alone, and they had to wade semi-naked through deep water to carry it.
@@TheAmazingAdventuresOfMiles Thank you for the clarification. I mean if there was lift, why wouldn't People take it? 😉
I love holidaying in Wales but that looks terrifying 😮 a cosy cottage is much more appealing. Fantastic video as always 👏
That was quite a journey to get to the actual hotel part and quite laborious and dangerous! The hotel part, definitely more basic facilities with everything in a bag, literally! Guessing you won't be making this an annual visit. Very brave of you Tim!
What an adventure. My mind boggles thinking of how they got all that stuff down there to do this! Also quite sad to think of how those miners from yesteryear had to work in such conditions so far underground. You never cease to amaze me with your imaginative places to stay Tim. Would have loved for Gaby to have done it too...I can only imagine her comments on that descent into the mine!!😃
Imagine the public liability insurance on that place. Jeez.
Aaw, hale to the nah! You're brave, Tim! Mad respect to the miners who worked there!
This is incredible! What's even more mindblowing is the fact that someone's had to get all that furniture down there, that must've been painstakingly difficult
Several questions came to mind: 1) evacuation plan for the hotel, is there one? 2) If someone got hurt, do the paramedics come down there to haul them out? 3) are there earthquakes in the area, and if so, would one get trapped in the rubble deep down? 4) how often do they change the sheets, because hauling out all that laundry and human waste in bags and the trash is a mind-boggling feat 5) what happens if there was a power failure, are there generators that will kick on for electricity? 6) is there cellular service down there in the event of an emergency?
Wow, that was quite the adventure 😮, definitely not one for me though! Makes you realise just what difficult and dangerous conditions miners had to face every day. Wales countryside is just stunning though. 👍
Gosh, the journey down there doesn't look like fun but once you're down there... That looks absolutely stunning!
Wow 250k subscribers - I subscribed when you were at 20k. You deserve it - the best travel videos of anyone. Well done Tim!
thanks Linda
The anxiety that I'm experiencing just watching you do this is just....OMG. It's absolutely fascinating!
wow Tim you are a super hero i would never want to go down there ,, well done excellent vlog
That was great - never knew such a place existed. What a fascinating journey that was, though I'm not sure how well I'd sleep!
Amazing trip , so jealous, think people worked down there for many years without modern lighting and equipment
Wow!!!! Terrifying yet beautiful while walking towards the mine!
Wow Tim, that was different. My knees are creaking with the thought of the 2hrs climbing out.
I live in the town nearby and i am so proud of my roots and my heritage!
Tim I absolutely LOVED this video it made me cry of emotion, as I use to live in Tanygrisau growing up as a child and it brought back so many memories. I've walked up that hill hundreds of times, and sat around that very lake for hours on end. Most of my childhood memories are of this area. When I was there the house you got kit up in was derelict, and I have a photo of myself as a child in there with sheep! Our house was right by the entranceway near the car park. Seeing it after all these years, hardly anything having changed, was so surreal. I showed the video to my parents last night and we watched it twice through, they loved it too. Thank you so much for doing this video 🙏
wow thanks for sharing that Carlie
Absolutely amazing Tim, something I'd love to do in the future!! The tour guide was awesome as well, very knowledgeable 😊❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm always amazed that people used to work in these places. I know they didn't have much choice but imagine waking up every morning knowing this was your work day for pretty much all of your life
What an interesting adventure, when you said it would be quicker to get out than it was going in i was somewhat expecting a fire exit door off to the side which literally just opened out of the side of the mine or a lift or something 😂😂😂😂
Reminded me of my 2013 trip down the Edinburgh Vaults on a tour. So creepy I was amazed when the tour guide said it wasn’t haunted. Such a unique experience to be underground in sleeping accommodation.
What a usual place to stay. But what amazes me is how did they get all the stuff(beds/furniture) down there. But I still prefer to stay above ground 🥰
What did you get yourself into, Tim!? Oh my, you had to spend 3 hrs walking through the long, dark and dangerous passage before arriving at the hotel, what an experience! Thank you for showing us such unique hotel.
Brilliant job, Tim! Well done. This was one of my most favorite vlogs you've done. It was spectacular. My ancestors came from Cymru (Wales), and many of them worked in the mines. Thank you so much for letting me peek into their world for a wee moment ❤️
you are very welcome, thanks for watching
This channel is steadily going up in the CZcams Algorithm! So glad for you Tim! Great video! ❤❤❤
I hope so!
Wow, that looks like the place of nightmares 😲 Wee during the night, if only there was a sink in your room 🤣
I’ve never been so hyped to watch a CZcams video before, this looks so cool
I dunno I think that's a bit dodgy mate
😂
16:15 Did you say Haylis and Barding, instead of Baylis & Harding? That’s a spoonerism!
But well done, you’re so brave to do this. And thanks for filming it to show us. ☺
Glad you did it Tim, because I never would!! Loved seeing it though.
I just saw beautiful North Wales, knew I'd love this vid. Wonderful place. What an experience Tim. Thanks for sharing.
Respect, Tim, should have taken Gaby. I would only guess what her comments would have been. Great adventure ! 🤗
My warm bed covers and mocha with a jaffa cake have never felt so good.
Wow! That looked amazing, above and below ground.
I love Wales, so picturesque. I’ve been down an old mine, but sleeping down one is certainly different.
I'd be claustrophobic going in cave but room looks lovely 😍
There's no way I would do that. . You are brave
Love your underground hotel video Tim,you wouldn't get me there for all the tea in china, you were so brave.Thankyou for the video.
Tim, I think you just passed SAS selection....enjoy your winged dagger beret 🫡👍
Lol
At £500 a pop, I don't think I'll be going anywhere near the grotto.
@ 3:38
Tim was not looking forward to going in the mine first. 😂
Tim said: “Do you want me to go in first?”
In the most nervous way possible. Lol I thought that was funny. Another funny part was when Tim had to drop 50 feet down and his GoPro messed up. I honestly think the nervousness was getting to Tim. However, Great video as always Tim keep it up!
Tim it was very interesting, I'm disabled so no good for me. But I think my husband would love it. Didn't even know they did things like this. Thanks Tim.Xx
Gorgeous room but the descent down to it looks like my WORST nightmare! 😂
Good you didn’t take Gabby and Casper on this trip. Never new this existed. Thanks. Cheers.
Great video Tim. You always surprise me. Well done for doing that one.
That was really cool to watch, thank you:)
Our pleasure!
Awesome adventure, not a trip. You did it the brave adventurer. Nice to adventure with you, thanks for showing Go Below
I'd say that's good value for a once in a lifetime experience
Great job to you, sir, and all the other members, including the guide. This definitely deserves two thumbs up👍🏻❤👍🏻
Brave Tim. Never in a month of Sundays!!!!
Loving your channel Tim .. I feel like I’m actually on the journeys with you! Thanks so much for taking us to these bizarre places! Best wishes from Melbourne Australia 🎉
That's a very interesting video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Tim your a braver man than me!! The scenery outside is stunning.
Thanks 👍
What an amazing place & a brilliant experience I'm sure 👍thanks Tim
I couldnt help myself with laughing when you said haylis & barding at the first sink
yes the next time I said it right lol
I live in British Columbia Canada and our province's interior has a provincial park called Cody Caves. We went through them with our kids. Only gear we had was helmets with headlamps. Only one section had a walkway with a handrail and steps. Everywhere else was climbing up rocks and sliding down. I was wearing black jeans and when we came out they were white! Lots of sliding down limestone! At one point, deep inside the cave, the guide told everyone to turn off their lamps. It was so pitch black.
I say it again you are amazing what you do and were you go tim 😊
Wow that was amazing. Very brave of you to go down there. I’ve been in caves before but not like that and I don’t think I’d abseil/climb through like you so well done. The room looked lovely 😊
Hi Tim. . I bet it was an amazing experience sleeping in the grotto. I found it so just watching it. Although I couldn't do it my self as I am scared of heights and some of the journey you did on the way down I could never do. Thank you for making this extra special video Tim, much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed it
Fair play to you for doing this one, Tim - I don't think I would! Very interesting.
Didn’t even know such a hotel existed! Guide wasn’t half bad either! Kudos Tim!!
Incredible to think how they got all that down there, great video tim very interesting 👍
Wow! This was a spectacular video Tim! So unique. I would have been terrified. However, I am thinking maybe that is why I should try something like this for that very reason. I am rather addicted to your channel! I thought when I moved to the UK a few years ago, i would be going on so many adventures. But the pandemic and other reasons, I became more risk adverse. I am trying to get out of my comfort zone and you are giving me the confidence to actually do it. This is a youtube channel I could get behind.
Wow thanks Jamie
OMG - you're actually walking up the road to my house!
Very cool Tim 😎
Probably the best place you've ever stayed in. IMO
Very brave. I couldn't stay overnight down there. Looks great though.
Thank you for venturing to new depths to get this incredible footage!
Wow, thank you Tim for the variety you give to us in your videos, it makes the mines on the Orme seem a little tame. I was surprised that living in North Wales I didn’t know that experience existed, I will check my maps, it isn’t something I could take on at my age, so your detailed account gives me an excellent account of the experience.
Hiya Tim, great vlog and amazing, I would love to stay down there in that cosy lodge and lovely fire .but I don't think I could climb down there and it's looks very scary, thanks for sharing 👍
Hi Tim and Gaby I follow both or you and may I say thank you for your fantastic posts, I live in Australia and I feel as though I'm with you on your trips, please give Holly and baby Casper a hug for me, keep up the great work you two, much love from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺 Australia 🇦🇺
Well Tim that was different ,respect! You would NEVER get me down there but was fascinating to see . The walk around the top was great more of that please .
Heck Tim, wouldn’t fancy paying £550 for such punishment! I think you were very brave as it looked very scary and I was claustrophobic just watching it! Thank you again great to watch.
Absolutely brilliant vlog Tim that looked well scary going down the mine shaft
thanks Charles
This is incredible, thank you for the video!
Country side is beautiful I love nature
Hi Tim, It's an incredible place. I enjoyed watching your video . Thanks for sharing 👍
Its not something i could do, but wow looks absolutely amazing 👌
Amazing experience and well shot! It felt like we were with you! And when you came out I took a big breath and then you said ahh fresh air! 😂
Thank you Timmy!
Now you have to make your way to the very top - aka space! 😊
That was fascinating! Another cracking video Tim.
Tim said he kept think about decent on the way down 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 that movie was wild
Fantastic Vlog Tim. When it comes to variation and interest this channel is up there (or in this case, down there) with the best. I really enjoyed this one thanks for sharing your experience.
Wow thank you for showing us this place Tim. I recently explored a deep mine in the summer but never thought you would be able to spend the night in one 👍 brilliant video.
thanks
Wow that was amazing and a little bit scary well done xx
16:42 that's an understatement, I wouldn't be able to handle a cruise ship inside cabin so as pretty as this cave room is it'd be a huge nope for me 😂
Not the hotel for me because I am really out of shape, but the video was very interesting. Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it
