      Don't suppose you know which of the screws they replaced? When I called Lifetime today they said the hardware has never changed for this product and they are not familiar with the screw replacement / rust issue.

    I do want a combo unit, so this is interesting. It’s good that they updated the screws.. well I hope so, the other commenter said the company didn’t know about it.
    Anything from the company about not being able to get the gas hotter? Seemed pretty low from what you said.
    Can you do these two things? Remove the top rack (EASILY) in order to put something larger in it? Add a grill (secondary market) to do like breakfast on it?
    Thanks

    Hi Steve, two questions can your sear a steak on this grill? and How are the grill marks?

    I have a Green Mountain smoker which will reach 500 degrees to grill but I don't use that option. I don't like grilling with gas so I use a Weber charcoal with a rotisserie for Prime Rib Roasts. I gave my gas grill away to save space on the patio. I've had gas grills in the past that the burners don't give off the heat that it should which is the main reason I went back to charcoal, It just tastes better... Just a note... I don't use charcoal fluid.

    • @SteveDOES
      @SteveDOES  Před rokem

      Yea i agree, charcoal gives off a much better flavor. Since i only grill small portions for myself (wife is now vegetarian), i get lazy putting in all that effort for a single chicken breast.

      Ive had 3 weber charcoal grills and ive gave all of them away over the years. I started off using lighter fluid and quickly found i didnt like the taste on my food. Using a coal starter wasnt hard but its time consuming. I could never keep consistent temps and hated the inconsistency of my food grilled. Ive tried fires on one side, spread out coals, coal trays, etc. I even tried coal rings for attempted smoking. My last setup was webers premo model so its just the nature of using charcoal. I do like the taste of charcoal but my next grill (which im very undecided) is going to be either gas or gas/pellet combo.

    How do you smoke and then sear meet on this grill? Is it as easy as just turning on the propane and Turing off the smoker or ?

      He also says in video it can be kind of dangerous to use the grill after smoking without cleaning it. The drippings from smoking can catch on fire. I guess just be careful if you do that.

    Sounds like they fixed the rusting issue but I have a grill from Walmart that was under 200 bucks and have had zero rusting. Kinda lame that lifetime would even consider using cheap screws.

    Ok, I got my grill assembled! My family doesn’t love smokey flavor. How do I use the Lifetime smoker to slow cook without making the meat too smokey?

    • @SteveDOES
      @SteveDOES  Před rokem +2

      The higher the temp you use the less the smoke. I cook at about 250° and I barely taste smoke. But that’s probably because it’s overpowered by the dry rubs I use.

    • @07slowbalt
      @07slowbalt Před dnem +1

      From everything ive read (currently not a user) for smokey flavor you should stay below 250⁰. Alder wood gives off very little smoke flavor. Try mesquite or hickory for heavier smoke and vice versa. Im a year late, let me know what you found so i don't struggle when i finally pull the trigger. Happy fathers day!

    • @leisurelane1
      @leisurelane1 Před dnem +1

      @@07slowbalt yes, after months of doing this, I found a higher the heat, the less the smoke. I haven’t dabble too much in different woods, but I’ve been really happy with my experience overall. Thanks

    Nice but seems like a lot of work to clean after use. Wow, rust after being covered and not even a year. A prime example where manufactures try to cut costs on the little things.

      As a 'test' (not laziness), i waited 6 months before cleaning. It wasn't too bad. But i was bummed to see that rust.
