Let’s remember Hughes represented Bergeron, who could have made more in Boston but no one dared to ask for more than Patrice while he was there. Bergeron’s lower $ contract allowed the Bruins to get more talent.
Still need a larger sample size before signing him to a hefty contract
I do think Slafkovsky will sign below Suzuki. I do believe he would sign even for 7mil but by the end of the ELC will be worth more.
slaf is 8x7.7 periodical he's our jackpot and we are respecting the hierarchy no younger player is paid more on new contracts.
If progression continues as now he will sign equally to Suzuki and Caufield.
Id like to see guhle sign a samuelson type contract, 8x 4.5 around that.
Slaf might make sense to bridge him, maybe 2x3m
But id really like to lock him for 8 years under 8 M maybe 8.5m
Guhle is a prospective top pair defenceman. There is no chance he is signing for 8 years at that figure.
@@ColonelGreen well he hasnt shown that he is worth more than 4.5, so it doesn't really make sense to pay him handsomly. In fact, I dont think it makes sense to offer him a long term deal. With all the defensemen in our system, Guhle is not that safe as the number 1 prospect at left handed D. I don't know if he earned to be the first guy we think to extend. We'll have to see when guys like Hutson and Reinbacher come up where he fits in. I wouldn't necessarily pay 6-7m for a 4th dman. 4.5 is more in line with what he could bring to the team long term and what we need him for. If he thinks he can become better than that, then a short term deal could give him more years to set himself apart from Xhekaj Harris and Strubble, that are all fighting for the remaining spots and are all NHL level dmen.
@@ColonelGreen a man can dream, and i know that anyrhing below 6m is a steal
Guhle had the same number of even strength points as Sanderson (in fewer games) over his career the last time I checked. Jake scored over half his points on the PP last year. Guhle had 0, and almost no PP time. KG is bigger, more physical, and better defensively. He should earn MORE, not less.
I say 8x8. All of them. Caufield, suzuki, slaf, dach, guhle, mailloux, hutson. (If all become as good as the projections) We wont have a matthews or mcdavid but we'll have an entire group of team-minded good players
Edit : as for xhekaj, i think we can start him on a montembeault type deal, around 3x3 and see where he lands after that
You would be a terrible gm sir
@@Jerry-lw6uf very constructive and developed, really appreciate that type of feedback
I'd give Xhekaj more money than Hutson all day long. Hutson is too tiny to be effective in NHL.
@@user-qo1gk2kj3e i said if they hit their projections. You still go through the regular rookie contract into bridge deal if needed, and then you see. Im not saying that as a lock in final answer, its a "IF everything goes according to plan and they are ALL as good as they're said to be"
As for xhekaj, i didnt say he didnt deserve more after, just that he needs a few more years before we can give him his big deal. Maybe 2 years instead of 3 on the bridge deal, i could go for that.
@@user-qo1gk2kj3eyou probably said that about bedard too
Guhle has the same even strength ppg over his career as Sanderson, and is better defensively. On a lower scoring team.
Guhle $5.5 mil, Slaf $7.5 mil
Slaf had 2 good months. He made a huge improve but.... consistency is the question....and his linemates are not very friendly to him.
What do you mean by your last comments? He’s chemistry with Suzuki and Caufield so much in the exact 2 good months your first comment was referring too…😅
@@Entavious They play together longer as 2 months.... They dont trust him.
Matheson rather will chip the puk to the corner then pass to Slaf wide open.
there isn't a NHL team that can sign several long lengh contracts. forget it this is a team game and the manner in which contracts are siigned need to change if the NHL is to survive this none sence long term contracts. it is unsustainable with the salary cap reality? unless the cap rises a lot?
Hugues could not aquire talent, leave all the pressure on the 1st line next season , making it harder for Slafkovsky and wait till the end of the 2024-25 season to resign him? Leave the team as is until the end of next season and play the rebuilt card
Arpon should sleep better!
Wifi 5 yrs@ $ 1.8 m.
Slaf, once gets 8 yrs guaranteed, will get lazy.
Slaf playing for $$$$
