Honestly, I absolutely despise it when parents force something on to you, blame you if it isn’t going well, and especially when you tell them that you don’t even want to do it and they tell you “ I’m doing what’s best for you, you’ll thank me when you’re older.”
Edit: Some of you guys are missing the point. Obviously if someone is doing bad at something like math or English then you should help them. BUT what I’m talking about is if someone is already good at those thing and you still force them to do extra work or make someone do something as unnecessary as playing the violin, ( if it’s not what they’re into )

As well as the message of never torturing yourself just to please others, the other message is to be grateful for what you have and never compare your life to another. Being rich isn't important; you should be grateful you have family, a roof over your head etc, and you should never pressure those you love just to please others as comparing to others is never healthy; the most important is supporting your peers or children to follow what they want in life! I love this video and I love Katherine Norland! This was a great video and it sort of reminds me of the love and support I always get from my family no matter what!

Many Asian parents and children can relate to this story. The pressure by parents on kids to excel can sometimes be overwhelming. At least the mother chose the daughter’s happiness over wealth and prestige.

There’s nothing wrong with going to community college. If you’re not sure what field you want to go into, you can take classes there to help you out, and it’s a great way to save money so you don’t end up with a bunch of debt. Also, night classes, online classes and financial aid are your best friends as well!

I was one of those all the time I spend too much time comparing myself to others seeing how happy there are, what they got, and i feel like that i have to do what others are doing and i have to have what others have I try to copy there lives and then i realize that i have to focus on my own path, my own journey and my own skills that I'm good at. Just never compare yourself to others.

This made me feel better tbh, I’ve always felt like I’m the dummest in class and being good at art will bring you nowhere especially since my class are always passing with flying colours while my grades are a pain to look at.
