What is the rat?
The reason the Germans weren't pushing is because you had your troops on the front but not pushing. The AI will wait for you to push if you share a front, that's why when you pulled your troops off to deal with turkey they started pushing.

It can actually be useful in certain situations, like when the allied ai is endlessly attacking and losing every battle, if you send 1 division and create a frontline but you don't attack, the ai will stop attacking and losing massive amounts of equipment and manpower.
@@official_commanderhale965 They already do. Their units are so bad that they always get like 10 mil casualties and casualties gives you warscore.
You didn't mention it but New Zealand gets cores on Taiwan if they unite Polynesia, which gives a much nicer core pop if you can get it

9:45 Poland has a "Become Soviet Puppet" side in the communist path as well and the point of that one is that you temporarily give up the eastern half, beat up Germany with the Soviets, they give you Germany's eastern territories, and then you ask for your own eastern territories back (which the Soviets will usually accept) so in exchange for a bit of weirdness you can get some pretty nice expansion from the safety of being the Soviet bulwark. Although I've never done the Polish fascism side, I suspect that the "Become German Puppet" thing may work the same way (give Germany the Polish corridor -> help Germany destroy the Soviets -> Germany gives you the Polish corridor back).
Unfortunately you won't recieve your western territories back, but you MAY get soviet western territories and baltics as cores
love how Poland ends up as a dot in the center of Europe (plus Rostov), but Germany, the MAIN BAD GUY, gets bigger after the war, keeping Austria
Jokes aside, I played this path out of my own free will and I think it is actually very cool. The point of it is to create a UK aligned fascist Italy.
Dino Grandi IRL attempted to stop Italy from entering WW2 and opposed anti-semitic policies. He was still a violent fascist, ofc.
Following the invasion of Sicily, he led the proposal to remove Mussolini from power.
His path is meant to be played alongside the "guarantee austria" foreign policy (oppose Germany), and is actually pretty historically truthful. Part of why the British+French response to Ethiopia was so weak was because they hoped Italy would be their ally against Germany.
It involved a lesser known element of fascism (corporatism) and let's you get good relations with nearly everyone.
Overall - Good path do play :)
Fun fact to add, pretty much the same applies to Italo Balbo. He was a staunch opponent to the alliance with Germany, and became even more outspoken when Germany attacked Poland; constantly reasoning for joining in with Great Britain instead. This is just one of multiple reasons why his accidental death - being caused by friendly fire from an AA battery - is seen as extremely convenient for the Axis, with many historians still suggesting that it was not an accident at all.

Yeah I found out the Polish-German alliance path needs you to stay a puppet the hard way too, except I was doing the Cossack King who shares the same branch

The point of the Beck-Ribbentrop path is for the bonuses against Germany you can get from some of the focuses.
I actually recommend u to play portugal and do the fifth empire, and really do a world conquest ( defeat the majors )
Didn't he already do that in his achievement video for Portugal essentially. I don't remember if it was the 5th empire or not, but I know he had to fight basically the entire world.
Honestly this was super fun to watch for some reason xD. I can't explain it but you trying to claw your way to victory was a very fun viewing experience. Different from self imposed challenges. This was literally just a semi believable alternate history fight for your LIFE.

Btw there was a new feature added to No Step Back when it came out I think. If you put troops on the whole front and don't attack the AI won't attack either. That's why Germany wasn't attacking.
I found this out when I decided to be ultra smart as Planes Hungary to prevent micro by putting all my planes on a single general commanding crappy divisions on the entire Soviet Front... took me years to figure out why the German's refused to push.

My first ever Italy game with the DLC was with Dino Grandi, he was the guy who proposed to oust Mussolini at the grand council of fascism in 1943. He also was a sort of non fascist fascist since he disliked the populist rethoric of other fascist hierarchs and clashed with Mussolini many times, he was kinda of a "moderate" bureucratic-diplomatic-institutional guy and in his path he can purge Starace which he hated for his populism and overall idiotness (btw he really was an idiot, he was mocked by the public and even Mussolini thought that he was: "an idiot but a loyal one"). Also he and Galeazzo Ciano were the two fascists who had contacts in other countries and diplomatic roles, he also survived the war and he worked for the FIAT for a period. He's the best guy rp wise to revive the Stresa front and join the allies which I did. I really liked that paradox gave him and Balbo a place and a fairly accurate one.

I know who is Dino Grandi, and he is my first choice when playing as fascist Italy 🇮🇹 after that DLC.
I'm italian and I regularly watched the TV 📺 documentaries on the third channel that they air during lunch right after school 🏫
The biggest feat of Dino Grandi, during ww2 was:
- secretly contacting the politicians unsatisfied with Mussolini.
- contact the King 🤴 in secret to ask for his support to sway the undecided and legitimise a post Mussolini government.
- organised the arrest of Mussolini and forced resignation by calling him out of the bunker with a trick.
- knowing that the italian army was getting deported by Germany and the italian generals were still loyal to Mussolini, he organised the first partisans movements.
(Pre-war it was jn the party even before Mussolini, he never liked him but survived the purges, because he was an important person, and he was the italian foreign minister and a great fan of USA)
Im not italian but i looked a little his biography. What i assumed is that he was rare to be fascist in the game and rather i would put him on Non aligned or democratic. Anyways, paradox had its reasons.

I mean you can really play sides in the monarchy path I got all of the colonies italy wanted took over the balkans and literally let the AI fight till I could see who was losing and I joined them it was a really good play through and having the IEA is so nice as it means I don’t have to micro resistance problems and I never call them to war so it’s just a nice trade partner

History fun fact, Dino Grande was the person who pushed the king to depose Mussolini after sicily fell and have italy swap sides. more info on the armchair historians channel, but he did live out his days in quiet exile before returning to be peacefully buried after his death.

Grandi tried to negotiate with Britain and do everything he could to keep Italy out of WW2. He's the one who called for the vote, or at least voted, to restore the King leading to the arrest of a certain bald man.
His Wikipedia is funny. Says he was Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was preceded by Benito Mussolini and succeeded by Benito Mussolini.
Wow, he lived until 1988.

Don't know if you've gotten the spain achievements yet but i find that for the Spanish civil war, turning off historical is the best route for the republicans/communists/anarchists because if Germany goes ahistorical they wont send volunteers to the nationalists and they makes things very easy when you don't have to deal with German tanks. Also good for anarchists because the soviet civil war will pull their mountaineers away from the republicans when it fires as well.
last bit if Britain decolonizes they can just give you Gibraltar which is a free achievement right there.

Dino Grandi was the Fascist leader that, on the night of July 24th 1943, proposed the “Grandi’s order of business” to the great council of Fascism that called for the deposition of Mussolini as the Prime minister of Italy. He literally put his life on the line of a democratic vote between Fascist Italy’s leaders… and actually managed to win (Even Mussolini’s own son-in-law and Secretary of State/foreign minister voted with Grandi). Mussolini was actually forced to surrender power to the king and consequently imprisoned, while the leadership of the country was given to General Pietro Badoglio, who decided to keep fighting the war despite popular unrest.
But at the end all of this was useless since, after the September 8th armistice, German military took over the country, The king fled from Rome, H. freed Mussolini from his cell and appointed him leader of the Italian Social Republic, a German puppet state, of which he stayed until the 25th of April 1945, when he was executed.
Grandi, however, managed to escape Mussolini’s revenge by being in Spain when a Republican-Fascist tribunal sentenced him to death in 1944. After the war he lived in Portugal, South America and the US, where he worked as an entrepreneur. At the end he managed to go back to Italy where he eventually died of old age.

That Polish game sure was painful considering how Poland usually stomps anything when you go monarchist. Nice to see something very different for once. I don't think I've ever seen Falangist Poland exist in Ahistorical after 2400 hours of playing. And I tend to play a decent amount of Ahistorical for the wackiness.
