A meteoroid as seen from the Space Station… make a wish!

- A series of night-time photos were taken by ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli on 5 November around 22:33 GMT, here shown in a time-lapse with a 1-second interval, while the Space Station was flying from the southern Atlantic Ocean over to Kazakhstan.
Paolo was lucky enough to capture a fast fireball falling to Earth over the Atlantic Ocean, off the South Africa west coast -- look closely between 00:07 and 00:08 seconds at upper right in this video.
A fireball is basically a very bright meteoroid -- a small bit of natural “space rock” -- entering Earth’s atmosphere and burning brighter than the background stars. This particular meteoroid was moving much faster than typical, with an estimated speed of around 40 km/s, according to experts working on near-Earth objects (NEOs) in ESA's Space Situational Awareness Programme.
"This speed is actually quite fast for meteoroids, which typically enter the atmosphere at around 20 km/s," says Rüdiger Jehn, SSA NEO segment co-manager.

This made me spit my drink into my friends’ face across the table.
For that I thank you, but my friend hates you. Haha

0:07 Meteorid
@@Jaystarzgaming That at the 21 second mark looks more like a reflection. The 00:07 one is WAY better!! You can actually watch it enter the atmosphere and see the insane speed is loving at. It's in the top right corner.

I guess I missed the meteorite... 😕
Those lightning storms are beautiful! They remind me of the Toto song. :)
The meteor falls near the visible edge of the Earth a bit to the left of the solar panels around 0:07. It is a small, fast light moving downward to the right.
oh i thiught we were the meteorite😭😭
0:07 top right
I just love watching this stuff!!! Hated science in school, now, can't get enough of it! Captivating subject!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!
Our pleasure, David! Thanks a lot for watching!
I second all of that
If you look near the very bottom of the screen at twenty seconds into the video about one quarter of the distance from the left side of the image...there is what appears to be another meteor coming up from the bottom of the screen traveling the same direction as the ISS and possibly another one immediately after that. They are both very quick to disappear but the first of these two things is traveling in a very straight line so to me it definitely appears to be a meteor. The second one I'm not certain if it is or not.
I found that if you select the option to play this media content at 1/4 speed. The asteroid is visible for a short moment.
One at 0:07...one at 1:14...both top right.
Not a flatearther but this looks so unreal, like a graphics animation of some sort and it's so silent...
If you move in that speed but closer to the surface(ground), will travel time be the same with travelling with that distance to the ground from point1 to point1 forming a circumference of the earth.
0.02 a light is seen on the clouds in the bottom left corner, going from bottom to top. 0.07 flash of light zooms to earth from the horizon, almost coming from the back towards the front. 0.22 lower left corner you see another streak of light going over the clouds again, like 0.02. a bright flash again appears at 1.13 from right to left, over the right side of the horizon of earth again.
Would that be an UFO seen at 1:06 middle - top in the space?
Good eye!
As it occurs not long before sunrise, a flash like may be sunlight glinting off of a satellite. The Iridium satellites famously make brief flares of brightness that can even be visible from the ground on occasion.
0:25 I guess this is how Google maps are taken
У Бога дискотека :)
Some is from satellites, but google also uses aeroplanes to get pictures where countries have lots of cloud cover
Wow! They can go around the world in such a jiffy!
The meteoroid is visible only on 4 frames of the video so watch it carefully! :-)
