Victorians being ‘gouged’ amid the state's ‘unbelievable’ financial woes

  • Herald Sun Senior Writer Patrick Carlyon has expressed concern over Victoria’s “unbelievable” debt.
    This comes amid concerns the federal budget will take a hit from Victoria’s financial woes.
    “This part of the country that just drags back the rest of the nation,” Mr Carlyon told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
    “The big problem now are the major projects that nobody really understands why we’re getting.
    “Victorians are being gouged to pay for these things that we really don’t want."

    My council rates have doubled over the last decade but they've dropped garbage collection to fortnightly..

      We pay for rubbish collection as an additional charge to the rates, plus the yellow bin and the green bin all charged separately.

      You do realise that a few million Victorians did not vote Labor and despise the party, particularly the Andrews legacy. We should not be paying for this anymore than anyone else in the country. It is almost exclusively a handful of far left Melbourne seats that causes Labor to get in time and time again. It's not even all of Melbourne who are to blame.

      @@timrohds750 we are pretty screwed down here, idiots voted for dan Andrews for the 3rd or fourth time now, ( ive never voted for the clown) then he resigns, so we are stuck with something worse for 4 years.....i'm lucky coz i saw what was coming, paid off all debt, work for myself getting mainly cash, but now i fight gov policy every damn day, and have a certain ability to just not pay what i think is unfair/unlawful, like $925 covid tax, put ontop of $375 land tax, last year there was no land tax to pay on 300,000, but the cheeky fkers have dropped the threashold to 50k, gonna be a long 4 years of pain ;)
