‘Don’t the Australians come first?’: Barnaby Joyce blasts PM’s immigration policies

  • Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce has questioned if Australians still come first under the Albanese government after immigration numbers have skyrocketed to record highs since their election.
“Where are the houses for these people, where are the schools, where are the new dams, where are the hospitals?” Mr Joyce asked Sky News Australia host Peta Credlin.
“People just think that people come in but you have actually got to provide not only the houses but the infrastructure to back it up.
“In the meantime, homelessness is making its way to Bundaberg and Tamworth - we are seeing people sleeping rough in areas we have never seen it before.
“People who literally are good people, decent people, got a job are living in their car.
“Don’t the Australians come first in all of this?”

The country of Australia is now 30% filled with citizens born overseas. It's kind of a little bit late. The progressive aim of making this a post war multicultural dream nation was a "feel good" style experiment. How did it go? - Everyone is 'box ticking' to get represented and we have more racial grievances than ever. The idea that we're all identical, and you just need some paperwork to be Australian, because were a "post racial" zone is kind of nonsense. We've been played like a cheap fiddle....

Immigration should be reduced to about 50k a year and it should only be genuinely skilled professionals and family reunifications. We don't need foreign university students at all, there are people with qualifications and experience who would already love to move here. International students take housing, pay little taxes and just put money in the greedy universities' pockets.

As an economist, you don't see the bigger picture, One of Australia's biggest exports is coal, and due to the tension between China and the west, the coal exports are cut off, and China is reluctant to import from Australia in recent times. Education is one of the top 5 exports for Australia, if it wasn't for the international students you would be doing your weekly shopping for $500 a week and still be complaining, the whole world is going through a recession, and only the rich middle eastern countries are somewhat stable.

International students are responsible for 4% of the rental market, just google it. Isn't the population growth planning that went wrong? Why are houses not being constructed at the same pace the population grows? What happens with empty houses/apartments? International students bring money, spend money and those who stay can become skilled migrants that Australia need.
