The meaning I take from this song is dont waste your time holding grudges while life goes on around you. It's too short to be bitter.
i cant listen to this song without crying... i dont know what it is about it hahaha
I love your interpretation. It is individually heard, as is much Pink Floyd. You and your listening of this song are beautiful. Thank you
just a brilliant album from start to finish ...and very underesitmated by many people
I dunno how you can say that, it is literally their 6th best after DSotM, WYWH, Animals, The Wall and finally Meddle...and it's my personal top-3 after WYWH and Animals...i don't understand the hype behind DSotM and especially The Wall...they are good albums, great even...but way way overhyped! I always preferred Wish You Were Here and Animals both...Devision Bell is right after these two!
@@Summon256 wow your a expert
This song is so depressing but beautiful at the same time
The meaning to me is ''how you will skip the rest of your life by wanting revenge (or wanting to win) against someone.'' As he sings: ''Stuck in a world of isolation, while the ivy grows over the door''. The world is beautiful out there, as reflected by the instrumentals of the song, but by focusing on your enemy ''reality fades
Like shadows into the night'' and '' you just can't win'' other way then by letting go. The solo at the end is the moment he realises it and finally gets relieved.
thank you so much for doing this. it's my favourite album. i love every song on it
That was a quick week lol
Very very good album dont care what anyone says its excellent
This was the second song that followed Great day for freedom on the rehearsal version, Pulse
Great album
The song reminds me of a bunch of children playing out on the school yard on a sunny day
Thank you Randi for reviewing the album in one week-long hit - a great idea. I've had the CD since the week it was released, but it was great to hear your perspective. A great album but a little overlooked amongst the greatness that went before.
linda canção. show
I love your vision of people coming together just to celebrate joys of life.
I had an outlook from this song that pointed to recognising bad behavior one my part in time gone by. And seeking reconciliation with enemies I made along the way. As the song indicates, despite best efforts, "some days you just can't win".
And yet the music fills me with anticipation of a brighter outcome.
I guess a lot of Floyd's song hold that kind of irony.
Been a fabulous week of reactions.
Another page turned of memoirs on a journey of discovery in music.
TTFN.
OH, A reply to you email is in place.x
I've enjoyed all your reactions to " The Division Bell " this week Randi, underated album, glad you've enjoyed doing them ... the album name was the idea of Douglas Adams (writer mainly know for 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' amongst others) ... the album cover artwork was / is an actual photo, with no cropping, editing or photoshop, it was created in real life in a field in Cambridgeshire, England, the sculptures were/are approx 15ft high.
Got this album when it was released, i think it's right up there with dark side of the moon as best album of all time. And i think this song has some meaning about how David Gilmour feels/felt about the split with Roger Waters, I don't have any proof, just have the feeling.
Great review, thanks for your time and effort 👍. Try Pink Floyd (pulse) next, try Sorrow to start 😉
Welcome to machine.🐻🐻🐻
Closed themselves off. Locked themselves in.
Listen to the animals album sheep pigs and dogs animals week )))
The only interpretation of Pink Floyd's music and lyrics that matters is that of the listener.
Nice reaction ❤️
You have to dive into the music of Marillion soon!! Start with Neverland (live '09)❤️
First part is about Syd and 2nd part (enemies) is about Roger.
You just have to listen to David sing Shakespeare Sonnet 18 it's absolutely beautiful and bring a tear. Who sings it from Astoria his floating Studio where he most of his Pink Floyd stuff
seriously, great suggestion. That is probably my absolute favorite Gilmour moment. I get teary eyed watching/listening to it
Its about focusing on the right One and try to bring the best out of the time you spend with him/her instead of worrying for people bad-mouthing you.
Please, please, please do a reaction to Pink Floyd (David Gilmour) "High Hopes" live in Gdansk. I've included the link below. This is by far the best version of this song that has the most amazing ending that absolutely wraps up and completes the journey perfectly. It's different from the original. Thank you!

Trying to make amends with ex member Roger Waters, but receiving the middle finger from him.
And that's a true event
Less specifically its about trying to be Happy with your loved One instead of caring about your enemies
It was probably about David Gilmour's adversarial relationship with narcissistic Roger Waters.
