Yet again, and as it would come as a surprise to many, if there was any competition to Kishore Kumar at yodeling, it was from Mohd Rafi. Mohd Rafi exhibited his yodeling skill in a playful song “unse rippy tippy ho gayee” with Geeta Dutt in “Agra Road” (1957). He then yodeled in a style of his own in few films including “hello sweety seventeen” (1959) with Asha Bhosle in the film Doctro Z.If yodeling was an art, Rafi had a perfect hold on it.

Though introduced by Amit Kumar as his mother, It’s a shame that thereafter Kishore Kumar’s first wife was totally ignored by the host, by Amit Kumar, by Leena and even by Asha Bhonsle. What’s worse is that Asha Bhonsle crassly refers to Kishore Kumar ‘s broken first marriage even as the lady is seated beside her. In fact Ruma Guha Thakurta was and is an immensely talented actress and singer with a velveteen voice. She set up the Calcutta Youth Choir.
Pity we didn’t hear her experience with Kishore Kumar in his early days. I guess the biggest culprit is the ignorant dolt of an interviewer who had not done his homework!

No, it's a fact. Every singer I mentioned was phased eventually phased out of the industry, at least the Hindi film industry. Kishore wasn't. He kept singing till the day before he died and had songs he recorded coming out for several years after. Where was Manna Dey all these years? Where's Suresh Wadkar been? Where was Talat after the 60s? Where's Shabbir Kumar or Mohd. Aziz today? Where was Mahendra Kapoor in the 90s? All phased out.

Responding to a post about how it's a shame his first wife is never mentioned:- But she is mentioned in the title, introduced in the first few minutes, she is in the room on a chair to the right from viwers point of view, between Amit's wife and Sumit on another sofa. Normally she is of course acknowledged in any biography of the star albeit briefly, she has a life after her divorce too! Hence the briefly. Also she has high connections of her own including Satyajit Ray. And a full career in Bengali films. Amit is her first son, she has children of her second marriage too. She is respected persona on her own.
