Day 48 - Big adventure on the GAP Trail to Belle Vernon, PA

Started the day at a primitive campsite on the Montour trail near Glassport, PA. I made my way through Pittsburgh and onto the GAP trail. The GAP trail has a crushed limestone surface and turned into a mucky mess shortly after the rain began. There was muck all over everything: the trike, trailer, and even in my hair. I pulled into the town of Smithdon to find a room and there was nothing available. The guys drinking around the bar at the local American Legion were a hoot. They got their phones out and called everyone they knew to find me a place but struck out. I ended up riding 4 miles from the trail to the town of Belle Vernon to a hotel near the highway. This was a very big adventure day.
