    I took delivery of my little badger wmr last week as well as a Ruger 10/22 takedown with the Magpul X-22 Backpacker stock and couldn't wait to take it to the range to fire a few rounds through it. I bought the Little Badger as a novelty gun (interesting, simple, cheap). First up was the Ruger. The Ruger performed just as Ruger 10/22s always do. Accurate, solid, and fun to shoot. Next was the Badger. Like you, I thought it was going to get boring, quick being single shot, short, and simplistic. Boy, was I wrong! I had a ton of fun shooting it. I can't explain why, but it was a blast. It is pretty dang accurate once zeroed using it straight out of the box using the factory sights and zero upgrades. Unfortunately, I did find a couple of things I didn't like. The sights are nylon; both front and rear. My rifle has a very light firing pin strike, and I had one misfire out of 26 rounds. My trigger has no take-up, which is nice, but barely putting my finger on the trigger would fire the weapon. Personally, that alone needs to be addressed to make it a bit safer. The picatinny foregrip and the area behind the trigger guard is a meat grinder, making it uncomfortable after several rounds. All in all this is a great little rifle for what it is at this price point.... With the exception of the hair-breath trigger, and maybe the light firing pin strikes. Once these issues have been fixed, I expect many years of fun plinking.

      I did some upgrades to mine, which made a lot of those issues go away. Video on that is up. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      I called Chiappa to request repair early in January and was told I should receive my firearm back in 4-8 weeks. I'm a couple of days short of 12 weeks and still haven't gotten it back.

      @untacticaltexan Amazingly enough, I got it back today, and I was already planning to go to the range with my Rossi RB17 17hmr and my 10/22 takedown so I packed the Badger up as well. I had put my CVLife red dot sight on it and was excited to throw some rounds down range. Chiappa said they replaced some springs for the light firing pin strikes and adjusted the trigger to 5 pounds pull....Firing pin still seems to strike a bit light, but was enough that I didn't have any mis fires. The actual trigger pull is 2 pounds... To some, it would be ideal, but to me, it was still too light but better. The picatinny rail must be way off because I gave the sight as much left windage as it would give and was still an inch right at 25 yards. Iron sights were better, but now I think I made a mistake in buying this novelty rifle.

      @@Ringele5574 Damn, sorry to hear that! I have experienced that with a few guns that other people had no problems with. It's always frustrating to have bought something that doesn't work as it should.

    Good little review. It should make a nice little project rifle. Not a road I’d want to walk down but fun watching someone else travel it. I keep seeing articles that the heat dome was going to move I’m a solid 6-7 hours south of you and I haven’t seen a noticeable change in the temp. Course it’s August in Texas so to expect anything other than hot may be unrealistic. For what it’s with I got a little overheated at the range Sunday morning, so be careful.

    this quickly approaches the price of many proper 22lr with a little upgrade. Its cool as hell but after thinking it through ignoring the cool factor, I decided not to buy, as I have no intended use case, I was planning to get the takedown xtreme tube badger.
    I think this is not a good trainer for new shooter, as its not dryfire safe. unlike platform such as 10/22 and cz45x that are designed to handle dryfire.

    • @untacticaltexan
      @untacticaltexan  Před rokem

      The xtreme is what i would buy if I was going to get new for sure. Snap caps are a cheap, dry fire fix. But yes, I agree.

    • @Ringele5574
      @Ringele5574 Před 8 měsíci +2

      I have never heard of a rimfire being "dryfire safe". The 10/22 definitely isn't. Rimfires have the firing pin strike the edge of the cartridge, and dry firing would cause the firing pin to strike the cartridge seat/barrel. As far as a beginner training rifle, it doesn't get much safer than a single shot, breach loading, hammer cocking rifle. The Cricket single shot would be another rifle I think would be a good first shooter for young marksmen. Are there better guns on the market? Sure, there is, but this platform is super simple with very little to break or go wrong at a price point that doesn't get any better.

    • @humorss
      @humorss Před 8 měsíci

      @@Ringele5574 if you look at the mechanism, the firing pin stop is quite robust. firing pin never strikes the barrel. I understand generally people don't like to dry fire .22s but these are well designed.

      @Ringele5574 Před 6 měsíci

      @10shot9miss after doing a bit more research, I've found that dry firing a 10/22 might be safe to do, but I doubt the Little Badger is.

      @@Ringele5574 10/22 manual literally tells you to dryfire to get used to the trigger. I think this is from the 10/22 competition model that come with factory light trigger.
