Love the vlogs mate. You still posted a brilliant time. I've ran the Parkrun there and really enjoyed it. I'm also doing the GNR for the third time. It's absolutely incredible mate, you'll love it. Don't forget that you're an outstanding athlete and especially for your age. I'm 50 and would love to run as you do 👏👏

Hi Dean I really appreciate your very kind words, they really mean a lot to this old guy & yes I'm not too shabby for someone my age ,& hopefully I can keep going. I last ran Normanby Parkrun in March 2022 so it's been a while. Really looking forward to GNR. Thanks for watching 👍

Hi Kev, I haven't posted on your videos for quite a while but I always watch them and love what post and how you present them, so I just want to offer my two penneth, for what little it's worth, my brother be easy on yourself, the times you run are faster than many, many people half your age, besides, what is a time anyway, did you start running just to post quick times, do you only run with times in mind, completing a run of any length in any time is a massive achievement, my advice take a few days off, then go out for a run and leave your watch at home, just be in the moment, no times, no pressure, simply remind yourself of why you chose running and why you keep running

Hi Kev, I noticed you had quite a congested start, I had a similar experience last year I just couldn’t get into my stride and lost time dodging people! I beat myself up as I felt I had underperformed ….you were very supportive to me on Strava and I took what you said onboard …moved on and planned my next race. Take heart mate you me and all the other “old” guys running are setting the standards for our younger running buddies…”I hope I can run as well as you when I’m your age” is a comment I often hear! My philosophy is Stick at your training and results will come, enjoy every run/race/event, have a beer after! Hope to run with sometime.

Hi Ian, yes the start was on a narrow lane & we were all packed in like sardines so getting into your stride was a little difficult & of course I was filming 🎥 too. Looking at the bigger picture I'm grateful that I can still run recording decent times still at 66 & yes I have received many compliments from younger runners impressed that I'm still going strong. I think we are both good role models to our peers and especially you Ian doing a magnificent job coaching.

Pacers can be so heart breaking when they catch up with you!

Yes totally agree Mark, it broke me to see that Pacer go past & disappear into the distance

Thanks so much Raymond for your comments & advice. I'm still waiting on some Tests but I am taking a well earned recovery now with most of my weekly training done at a very easy pace & low heart rate. Cheers 👍

@@samsonslaphead1I’m 63 today and hopefully I can keep going as long as I can. I’m like you, I run half marathons, done a full marathon EMF, just did a cycle ride from Carlisle to Cramond on the other side of Edinburgh, this was a 100 miles overnight, it was called Ride To The Sun. I would go out and sometimes feel really sluggish and can’t be bothered, that’s probably my body telling me to have a rest. My head tells me you’re fine but my body tells me to behave myself. I’m thinking of upping my training again as I fancy doing the Loch Ness marathon next year, I’ve got the Glasgow Half Marathon in October. I generally go and do a Half Marathon distance each month. Again take care and keep up your videos WHEN YOU CAN. No one expects you to push yourself just to put a post up. All the best 👍🏻🏃‍♂️

Hi Raymond, it's great to hear from a fellow older runner who has competed in similar races to myself & share the same experiences. We are both really lucky that we can still run these longer distances at our age. We do however have to have lots more recovery time than these young lads. Well done on your cycling event that's awesome! Good luck for the Glasgow HM & Lock Ness is a marathon that I've always wanted to do. Glad you are enjoying the videos, thanks 👍
