      She killed her brother to become queen. Also she snuck to Caesar naked to attrackt him. This have not much in common with the real history. The reality was way more brutal but also better than this video (which only is about romance and revenge on the brother). There are other chanels which animate history stories better than MSA. MSA for me are fictional stories and it should be this way or they should learn how to teach history properly. Just saying.

    If anyone who's wondering as to how Julius went away was that the Rome's senate was in fear for Julius's rise to power as their Emperor and abolishment of the senate. When Julius returned to the Capital with Cleo he was immediately murdered by the senate themselves through stabbing him multiple times t'ill he succumb to the wounds. Cleo mamaged to fled from Rome before they would come after her and their Son.

    • @MariuigiKhed
      @MariuigiKhed Před 11 měsíci +15

      At least this is version A, cause other states that Julius was on the republic's/senate's side and Brutus killed him in favour of the opposite side of the senate's haters. (if I'm not mistaken, I think Dante was one that supported version B)
      And more comedic people states that he was stabbed for all the antlers he put on his enemies by banging their wives.

    • @Otomazeman
      @Otomazeman Před 11 měsíci +9

      @@MariuigiKhed Brutus was actually hesitant about murdering Julius because he was the one to save Brutus from ever being executed after the civil wars and even treated like a Son but only to have one of Brutus's fellow senators convinced him to do it, but he wasn't there to kill but only to be one of the attacks. Just standing there on Julius's dying body in this version. But also there's also another likely reason as to why that the Senate wanted to kill Julius was that because Julius is already close to making Rome into an anarchy than the republic. Because their ancestors fought the previous Emperor's tyrannical ruling before the Republic was made idk if I've done my research about Julius Caesar quite well

    0:07 She was born in 69 bc im egypt, although her family was macedonian in origin
    0:30 source?
    0:45 cleopatra wasn't sole heir
    3:01 ptolemy xii wanted cleopatra and ptolemy xiii to be co rulers
    3:25 / 3:26 They were co riulers but cleopatra was ousted by a rival faction to the south
    Who is Naya? And ptolemy was 10 at the time and was married to cleopatra
    5:29 caesar went to egypt in pursuit of pompey magnus
    5:43 cleopatra went up the nile and snuck into the palace at night in a laundry bag not dress up as a soldier
    7:10 Caesar wanted them to be co rulers again + caesar was besieged in the Royal quarter and most likely had already released ptolemy in hopes of peace talks
    7:41 they never married, they were just lovers
    7:49 rome was stilled allied to egypt until caesars death and quite some time after it
    9:00 Cleopatra and mark antony met in tarsus on a golden barge with purple sails with cleopatra being dressed as Aphrodite
    9:10 cleopatra basically only ever went to rome in 46bce and 44bce to visit caesar (before octavian had any significant power)
    10:11 cleopatras brother(ptolemy xiii) died in 47 bce at the battle of the nile aged 14 before caesar died and octavian gained power in rome
    10:50 rome was in acivil war and antony and cleopatra were busy in the east and didnt set foot in italy and the wanting to arrest octavian thing is like putin trying to arrest zellensky in Ukraine
    11:13 opposite happened, octavian and his best general, agrippa, beat antony at actium and conquered egypt, antony stabbed himself and cleopatra also commited suicide or died of illness

    Cleopatra is indeed a very interesting woman, and she was a very capable ruler of Egypt. In her 22 years in power there wasn’t a single revolt against her rule. Rome was a very patriarchal society, the idea of a woman in power was unthinkable to them, so I’m not surprised at her cold reception.

    I'm Egyptian, A COPTIC CHRISTIAN EGYPTIAN, I shout that out loud because we are the most pure blooded Egyptians out there and that's not only my opinion that's what Egyptologists, Historians and Scientists also agreed on , and I tell you that every word that Bassem Youssef said is right and I totally agree with him.
    Yes Egypt had lots of mixed cultures throughout its history like for example: Greeks, Romans and Arabs, but the Egyptian blood didn't mix and change that much and that's because for centuries we Egyptians had a golden tradition rule to marry our cousins, and that tradition is still present until now especially in Upper Egypt(from Assiut to Aswan), Although that tradition seems silly and bad from a scientific biological point of view, but that doesn't matter, silly or not we kept that tradition of marrying our cousins for centuries and that helped us to preserve our pure Egyptian blood not mixed as long as we could, and the result is what you see now and that is Modern Egyptians looks typical to their Ancient Egyptian Ancestors, just look at my skin color and Bassem Youssef's skin color we are almost the same although he is a Muslim who was born and lived in Cairo and I am a Coptic Christian who was born and lived in Luxor and there is almost a 1000 km distance between us, doesn't that tell you a thing or two about who Ancient Egyptians were and what they looked like?
    With all due respect for all the Black people and all the other ethnicities out there, but we Egyptians are special very special, WE ARE NOT Black or White or Yellow, Not Europeans or Africans or Asians, Not Assyrians or Persians or Israelites or Nubians or Greeks or Romans or Arabs or French or Italians or Germans or British or Turkish or Ukrainians, Not Middle Easterners or Caucasians or Mediterraneans or Levants or Amazigh or Berbers or even North Africans.
    WE ARE
    EGYPTIANS,
    WE ARE
    VERY UNIQUE!

    Most if not all of this is not historically accurate
    For exemple : Egyptian was treated badly in their own land ruled by her as a total stranger like she wants their good...(she didn't care less or more )
    She was strong and smart indeed but you know they would write good about their Queen(her minions)
    She was an absolute w h o r e. She didn't marry Julius she slept with him so he can help her take the throne from her brother and then married him to garntee position then after his fall she did the same thing with another king(forget his name)and then her brother came at her and she tried to take his good side by doing the same thing to him(marrying a sibling that time wasn't a bad thing because it was done in royal families to keep the royal blood pure)but he killed her
    Her history was a discraise. She was Soo helpless not only as a lone woman but as a ruler of the greatest legacies

    • @moondivine2288
      @moondivine2288 Před 11 měsíci +1

      No offense some of the things you’re saying isn’t historically accurate neither. Not only that it is filled with double standards and some of it might come from historical bias.
      First off why are you calling cleopatra a whore when men in power have done the same as her and no one calls them out on it? Julius Cesar for example slept around. And Cleopatra was already married to her brother because it was their custom. It had nothing to do with her trying to get into his good side. Julius Cesar was already angry at her brother because he killed Pompey. Marc Anthony wasn’t a king. He formed a Second Triumvirate with Marcus Aemilius Lepidus and Octavian. Keep in mind Marc Anthony was married to Octavian’ s sister and he mad that Marc Anthony ditched his sister for cleopatra.
      As a saying goes history is written by the victors and most of the terrible stuff written of cleopatra was said by Octavian. Cleopatra was a great Queen. She was the only person in her family to speak Egyptian. But she was also human and she was complicated. A lot of historical figures are. Not everything is black and white.

      @@moondivine2288 i agree with you but as a person who heard Egyptians ppl ...they always tell us that she wasn't the best figure to be proud of as a Queen...her ppl in that time was oppressed...she wasn't that good either ...and yes she did took advantage of her (thing)to get around punishment bc as a lonely woman she was afraid and powerless...with no one on her side she did pay her dignity for her life ...which isn't honorable...

    • @moondivine2288

      @@onceinadream4999 keep in mind Cleopatra’s family wasn’t exactly good neither. Most of them didn’t rule Egypt well. And I don’t think it would be fair to just blame cleopatra because she was the only famous one.
      Also keep in mind the punishments Ancient Rome would hand out. octavian was planning to humiliate cleopatra and she refused to give him that pleasure. I don’t think there are exactly good rules in those time. It is with mixed or terrible

      @@onceinadream4999 Cleopatra’s family did have an impact on Cleopatra’s reign. Their bad decisions didn’t just go away. Like I said Cleopatra did care about Egypt as she was the only one to know the Egyptian language. But I don’t think she’s an amazing “girl boss” person that this video and the recent Cleopatra “documentary” try to make her out to be. She’s a human who’s also done mistakes and some terrible actions. In her case I don’t think the good outweighs the bad though I know its something that depends on the person.

    Fun fact (besides the one about Cleopatra not being Egyptian..everyone knows that): Multiple people who met Cleo and wrote about it say she was not very pretty. In fact, she looked a bit masculine (go look at some coins with her face, hooked nose and all). Historians think she probably tried to make herself look even more masculine as a way to get people to respect her and not question her authority. The thing people were attracted to was her charm, not her beauty. Sounds like she was the life of the party!
