- The West Indies had some great fast bowlers that put fear into many batsmen they came up against in the 70s, 80s and 90s, but on one day in 1985, Sri Lanka would fight fire with fire...
I loved the Lankan line up then. Making their test debut in 1982,they beat us in 1985,in a one day match. Respect 🙏🙏
It was on this day that Cive Lloyd's West Indies got to smell the 'parfum' ball, and got to hear the sound of 'chin music' close up , which they dished out so often to opponents. What would have been galling to them that it came from the raw, talented, totally unpredictable new comers.......
Rumesh was a first square arm bowler for SL
I heard in a commentary of another match that two players had retired hurt hit by Rumesh and searched for it. Amazing pace to trouble the then West Indian legends !
Pure gold !!
once tony greig said that never ever under estimate these srilankans
still i can remember lots of issues came about rumesh "s bowling Action

Brilliant video ! Bro .
Thanks James!
WI could never handle the dose of their own medicine.
tHEY WON BY 8 WICKETS.
@@nickhanlon9331 thats right and two good batsmen were out for 2 games after that
@@Heath-Gallagher Richie Richardson wasn't out. He played the next match. Gomes was out
@@beefy1986 oh ok richie was a strong as 2 acres of garlic.
@@Heath-Gallagher dude Richie was equal to the modern foursome of Kohli, Smith, Root and Williamson. Captaincy I felt ruined his batting and his mental psyche. As a pure batsmen in the 80s he was fucking deadly.
@ 0:51s Michael Holding looking pretty subdued here; casually rolling the arm over.
SL gave the WI a taste of their own medicine
🏏🇱🇰👍👌
I think when a team is overly dominant, decline sets in. Probably the only two really great fast bowlers the Windies faced 85 onwards till Wasim in 87 were Imran and Hadlee. Without home umpiring, slowing of over rates, they might well have lost to England in the late 80s as well as Pakistan in 87..
Perfume balls for the perfume makers
Eh....he...he...he.....
Very nyc video
Great to have your company Manik!
He is pelting as plain as day
These so called West Indian greats never excelled well against their quickies in Red Stripe Cup tournament including Vivian Richards.
I thought it was aussues seeing colour of jersys,,, I supposed wrong clippings!!??? Lankans always fighters, being new team they avenged mightys in the same way as they were troubled!!!!😏😝😅😅😝but Indians never did like this to any team, even now....
Rumesh Ratnaeka's action looks very suspect.
get your eyes checked
Nothing suspect at all. Really strong wrists which alongwith the Jeff Thomson like action, imparted a lot of place to the ball
Probably an Aussie 😂😂😂
Clive probably thought the same thing, but asked for a helmet instead!😂😂
He’s a chucker that’s for sure.
