First thing on a bike never look down, you must look ahead, you can look either looking ahead, as soon as you look down you are in trouble.

Thanks for your tips, hoping to get out there in the next year and this video was very informative. Of course Summer would be the ideal season to ride it in, but do you think it’s a must?
Also, you two are very cute together!

I did it in November, no cold days, but weather is fickle liver in Central for almost three years hardly saw rain, but when I went back in one day saw more rain in one day.

We did the ride over 4 days, 8 people in the group, oldest was my father at 80 yrs, starting at Alexander, organised with She Bikes, no E bikes, we had put some miles in on the bike before the trip to prepare, yes you must use padded cycling pants, you still get a sore butt tho, we found the 40 odd kms per day was about right and managed a few beer stops, hardest day was the finish into Middlemarch, gravel was quite rough and seemed uphill, ( wasn’t supposed to be lol), all in all a good trip with good accomodation, had a good night at the Wedderburn tavern, would do it again, agree with the use of E-bikes, as I now own one, helps keep everyone even

Middlemarch is higher than Clyde, I did Middlemarch to Clyde, that was back in the 90s, three days stayed at Hyde, Ranfurly and Lauder, cost $400, for train from Dunedin to Middlemarch, bike hire accommodation bags carried between stops and bus back to Dunedin, no guides required, would need an ebike now, but I did it solo.

Best to take a hip flask with a little something warming for a tipple😊

You are never going to have a pub every hour in Central, I love my beer, but only the Middlemarch to Hyde was that problem elsewhere the pubs weren't too far apart you need to know, when to just leave the trail to go a few hundred metres off the trail, most of Central's small settlements had one.
