This man made a disproportionately massive impact on my quite sad young life. He injected energy, force, creativity, difference, idiosyncrasy and love into the grey mind of a quite depressed 20 something. He made me realise that being different is good, fun and interesting, and that basics are best, with love, passion and originality mattering so much more than endless pedals, effects, posturing and posing. His lyrics made me cry and his music made me smile - I saw him live in 2016 and I will never forget it as long as I live. A fighter, a lover and a true original - dare I say it, but truly, a legend. I really, really loved him. I will always love him - and thank you will never be quite enough. Rest in peace Wilko Johnson.

That's such a heartfelt post. I'm glad Wilko helped you get through whatever difficulties you were going through at that time.
I'm a guitarist, and whilst what he did isn't all of what I do, his musical style inspired me to a great extent - I never got the hang of playing with a pick anyway, and that stripped back, choppy style felt natural to me, and still does. I met Wilko in the 1990's, and found him engaging, entertaining and thoughtful. He was definitely a person 'of depth'.
Wreckless Eric knew him for many years - if you can find it, it's worth reading his tribute to Wilko that he posted on his Facebook page. It's well-written, and like your post, from the heart.

It's tough, and it's hard to deal with family/friends having it. Right now one of my good friend's mother is dealing with PC and slowly, but surely, it's breakin him, as much as he doesn't want to admit it. @Timothy Lee you could be right maybe it is a UK thing, particularly Essex? Wilco has a very unique style, in the same way as nile Rogers, perhaps not technically brilliant but you know it's him the second you hear him. In the mid 70s before punk rock took off there was what is now referred to as pub rock. There were several bands around Essex at that time, most notably the stranglers, the kursel flyers (who I think became the motors?) Ian dury and the blockheads and wilcos old band Dr feelgood. Some things don't travel across the pond I guess but these guys have influenced a lot of musicians who came after.

Always loved the Telecaster sound. So many great players including Wilko have got a distinctive style from the guitar people like Steve Cropper and Syd Barrett. So simple but you try doing it!!
