I’ve seen ALOT of boats on CZcams. The Amel 50 and Garcia 52 feel like the gold standard for liveaboard blue water cruising.

It is obvious English is a second language. I have to say it's perfect and I'm always amazed with people who can speak more than one language fluently. I hope one day to own an Amel.

After watching Delos for years I don't know why anyone would want to blue water sail in any of the other brands completely aft helms. The protected cockpit in these is just perfect. And the current 50 and 60 are overall perfection,,,, masterpieces...

They are bloody expensive! Also there are not many options for an affordable centre cockpit, offset helm 40ish ft boat either

there is no such thing as a perfect boat.. so perfect for what? anchoring in the med? yes. i agree. but i colder climates? hmm.. and I would not want that open layout in rough seas for a longer period of time.

While they are certainly reputable boats, like much engineering and industrial design from France, they have odd angles and an awkward-looking design language from an aesthetic perspective. In other words, they are not exactly beautiful boats. There are many brands that are just as equally well-built with practical and useable features from a safety perspective as Amel, but are fare more beautiful to look at.

Amel is the only manufacturer who put the helm in protected/covered area. Other boats put the helm at the rearmost which is dangerous (chance of falling in sea in bad weather) and just so awful in bad weather.

i wish it had something breaking up the saloon, something you could hold on too, making it a little more practical underway with moving around etc. maybe something detachable? i dont know how you would use that space otherwise in rough seas, crawl?

@@sucapizda These big boats are build as homes. Most people wouldn’t want to live a longer period completely surrounded by dark cherry wood. Instead light and bright colors ease the mind and make space look bigger.
Anyhow, good we all have different taste. both of us could probably get the interior we want once we have the funds to order a new Amel. ;)
